As a handyman service that performs only minor improvements valued at less than $ 500, All Systems Home Service is exempt from the licensing requirements of – and is not licensed by – the California Contractors State License Board.

History

Established in 2010.

I started doing handyman services in 2010 as a way to supplement my income after a layoff in the tech sector. This part-​time activity evolved into a fulfilling, full-​time career.

Meet the Business Owner

Chuck Z.

Business Owner

Chuck Zissman, the business owner and primary technician, has been performing improvements and repairs on bay area homes for decades and is skilled in may trades including carpentry, electrical, masonry /​concrete, plumbing and landscaping.

Chuck has always been a hands-​on man who spent most of his adult life working in the technology sector, but found the work unfulfilling. In 2009, he founded All Systems Home Service to combine his love of home improvement with his recently developed career in residential real estate re-​sales (flipping houses”), and is licensed by the California Department of Real Estate as a Real Estate Salesperson.

A California native, Chuck is a decorated US Army veteran who served as Combat Support Military Police in Iraq during 2003 & 2004. He served honorably with the Army Reserves MP Corps for 13 years.

When I first met with Chuck, I was very happy to discover what an easy person he was to talk to and discuss options for my two big projects. One was re-​hanging a very heavy door and one was creating and installing a mantle for my living room. He worked very hard to create exactly what I was looking for. Chuck is easy to communicate with, polite, straightforward, knowledgeable, and honest. I also had a few smaller things that needed taking care of and Chuck took care of these very professionally. Every part of Chuck’s work is very well done.
If you want an honest, experienced, and really down to earth nice man to work with, contact Chuck. The best way to get him is by text. I would absolutely recommend Chuck without hesitation.

Temco Logistics damaged the external door frame when they delivered a refrigerator 12÷2÷2015. My garage door frame was also damaged from a separate incident; he fixed both perfectly and took the time to do a meticulously good job (several trips) to make sure both areas were even better than when I bought my townhouse. I also had a light that had gone out in the kitchen and for some reason, could not put a new light back in. He fixed that problem no charge and took the time to explain what had gone wrong. I recommend Chuck highly for his attention to detail and extensive knowledge, and kindness. I will definitely contact him again for future repairs. Thank you!

I purchased a new glass cooktop to replace an old coiled one. Called Chuck to cut the countertop/​tile for the new dimensions of the cooktop and to install the new one. He was very informative and knowledgeable. I would definitely work with him again.

I hired Chuck to fix several things around the house. For the more complex jobs, he offered several creative solutions at varying price levels. All work was quickly and professionally accomplished.
I plan to hire him again, and will recommend him to several friends who are in need of someone to do home repairs.

Best way to get him is by text. He will send you his rates and availability.
He was very accommodating with working after 5pm which was really helpful.
I had a dishwasher draining issue. Chuck showed me how to drain it manually. Checked the water flow and instead of billing for hours to pull it apart suggested that I call the manufacturer and see if this problem has already been reported.
That way I could purchase the needed part and get him back again.
This saved me money and I appreciated the help (because I was lost and Utube were sending me down a dark path with do it yourself suggestions).
Get a professional in to do the job right — CHUCK is your man.
Will definitely have him back in my home.

I had a simple issue (changing light switch) where I started the job, realized that I wasn’t sure how to finish, and decided to call someone to do it instead. I needed two new deadbolts installed on two different doors. Got a same day appointment too. Chuck arrived and was very professional and friendly. I had two issues that hit me recently. The ice-​maker for my fridge and my faucet stopped working. I gave Chuck a call and we were able to quickly setup an appointment to get him in and look at the issue. He was quick and professional, came in diagnosed my problem told me what needed to be done and went about fixing the issue.
A great experience overall and would definitely call on him again if I need help in the future.

I recently had a section of my fence fall apart, and after searching a week for someone to come (lots of left messages — no responses) — I contacted Chuck at All Systems Home Service. I texted Chuck on Monday, got a response on Tuesday, and he came by on Wednesday morning to look at the fence. On Wednesday afternoon, he sent me a quote for labor and materials (recommended using redwood) and then completed the job on Thursday. He was a little bit late on Thursday, but he communicated that to me, so that is fine. The fixed 6 foot portion of the fence looks great! Thank you!

We have an old house and unfortunately the outlets in our kitchen had pretty much fried out over the weekend. Luckily I called Chuck and he was able to swing by and help us out in our mini emergency. He was very diligent and thorough in his work. Also he explained the why’s of what had happened. Which I felt was helpful so we can do our best to avoid future emergencies. When we plan to do future electrical work and possibly other work, I plan to contact Chuck first. Thanks again Chuck!

Very disappointing. I contacted him two weeks ago, and he was supposed to come by to give me a quote. At least 5 or six texts and 3 phone calls were made, and he still has not showed up for a quote. If you do not want to do a job, just say so, do not lead people on for weeks. This is just unprofessional and extremely frustrating.

Called twice and left a message within a week, no call back from Chuck. Two weeks later, I decided to give him another chance and called, Chuck answered the phone and we discuss the project I needed him to do. He gave me a quote for installation of a dishwasher and I said ok let’s do it. I asked when can he come by, he told me he’ll call me back when he checks his schedule on his computer. NEVER heard back from him, that was two weeks ago. I already gave up on him the next day, got on Taskrabbit and had someone come by to do the job within the same day.

I recently purchased a new kitchen faucet and a new water dispenser for my filter. I try to be somewhat diy, but I’m not afraid to admit when I’m better off with a professional. You don’t want to risk it with plumbing. After checking out the reviews, I gave Chuck a call and he answered right away. We setup a day and time, and he came by this morning to do the work. He was very quick with a more challenging install, professional, and also very friendly. I was able to discuss some plans for future work, and also got some great advice on things I would be doing myself in the future.
A great overall experience. After some experience with flaky handymen in the past, I’ve definitely found my new go to guy for the future!

Smoothly arranged an appointment and was pleasantly surprised that Chuck could fix my front door so quickly and easily. (The previous handyman — Brother’s — had charged me as much and merely gouged out the latch hole a bit which didn’t solve the problem.) He did the work last month, but I waited until now to write the review because I wanted to be sure that he had fixed the real problem well. Sure enough, the door works like it is brand new.
Chuck diagnosed the problem and described in clearly to me. He then went an extra mile to make sure I got exactly the right replacement door part. I went from dreading the next house repair to looking forward to getting any repairs I need fixed by Chuck. He found the real problem, fixed it beautifully, and charged a surprisingly reasonably amount. I highly recommend his work.

Chuck is a GREAT handyman! After calling several contractors and handymen in the area, Chuck was the only one who knew how to do the job right, and do the job right away (it was a bit of an emergency). Long story short, some contractors accidentally cut the internet cord at my office. Chuck re-​wired my internet cord from downstairs to upstairs and even worked closely with AT&T to make sure it was working before he left. He was able to do the job quickly and very professionally. In addition, he’s a really nice guy :) I definitely plan to hire Chuck in the future!

I originally contacted Chuck in Sept to get quotes on changing out toilets and vanity cabinets, however due to unforseen circumstances, I had to put it on hold and renovate my kitchen instead.
I called Chuck to see if he was able to help with kitchen project, but he wasn’t able to. So we both agreed that once my kitchen was done, he’d be happy to help with other projects that would be $ 500 or less because he’s not allowed to charge above that by law.
I recently text him over the holidays and has not heard one reply. Am quite disappointed as Chuck is aa nice man n was prompt in his previous responses.

Unfortunately, never had a chance to experience Chuck’s ‘great service’ based on all the reviews. I simply couldn’t get hold of the man. I called and sent text, he texted me back two days later asking if we still need help. I responded to text saying that we still need help with our projects and called him few times specifically asking to call me back even if he’s too booked just to let me know. Never heard from him… very unprofessional and disappointing.
