We eat a lot of BBQ all over the country and have found this to rank at the top of our list for taste, sauces, sides and quality. Definitely coming back here again soon. The friendly service is tops!

Decided to give this place a try based on the positive reviews. Meh, it was ok. Shared the«small sampler» with my son. The pork and chicken were decent but the beef and ribs were school cafeteria quality. The sides were average at best. I usually try to support small family owned local spots but I will not be returning based on this experience.

We shared the Sampler plate and OMG, the chicken especially was SOGOOD!!! Probably the best chicken BBQ I’ve ever had. I tend to avoid BBQ in general because my impression of BBQ is meat slathered in BBQ sauce. That is not the case here at all. BBQ sauce is an optional condiment available in bottles on the table, not a disguise for the delicious flavor of the meat. In other words, this meat holds it’s own. The beef was very strong in flavor and the pork not so much. But it was the chicken that blew me away. As a matter of personal preference, I found the cornbread to be a bit dry, the beans tasty, and the potato salad just meh. I enjoyed the flavor of the horseradish infused coleslaw, though didn’t think it had quite the«kick» that we were warned about., The gal behind the counter was super friendly and made the experience all the more enjoyable. I’d definitely go back and encourage others to do the same!

The BBQ sundae was absolutely terrific. The owner took the time to answer my questions and very helpful. Even though they were about to close, I never felt rushed. I used to live in Texas so I have a certain expectation for Texas BBQ. This place did not disappoint.

* Borders * Note: The following is a fictional account of a recent border crossing. Any resemblance to real life is purely coincidental — other than the meat. U.S. Border Guard: «What is the reason for your visit?» Driver: «BBQ.» US Border Guard: «Pardon me?» Driver: «BBQ brisket.» US Border Guard: «Are you bringing meat into the United States?» Driver: «No. I’m driving to the United States to get meat.» US Border Guard: «Don’t they have BBQ in Vancouver?» Driver: «Don’t get me started. Have you seen my Unilocal profile complaining about this?» US Border Guard: «Hold on, let me check on the computer.» Driver: «OK.» US Border Guard: «Nice photo of the skyline.» Driver: «Thank you.» US Border Guard: «You talking about Reverie BBQ?» Driver: «Yes.» US Border Guard: «Oh, I see. Totally understandable. Go ahead. Enjoy your meal.» Phew. Made it through, one hour to good BBQ! Hooray! After crossing the border and wiping drool off of my chin for an hour on the way to Mt. Vernon, I finally arrived and ordered the lunch special for an incredibly reasonable $ 5.99. It was a BBQ brisket sandwich. I chose the soup and cornbread as my two sides. Here is the combo: The brisket was just as good as the pulled pork had been on my last visit. It had a nice smokiness, a good bark, deep rich flavours, and was perfectly tender. Delicious. Photo: The split pea soup was a thick, almost stew like, soup. It had good natural flavours, and nice chunks of carrots and celery. It was just a tad saltier than I would prefer — but still very very good. I’ll be back!

Delicious for lunch! They are Christian run, which I like to see. They also give food to the poor, so all together a great business to support. I love the BBQ sandwich.

Decent BBQ. Most of the meat is pulled except for the pork ribs. I prefer the spicy house BBQ sauce. Ordered the lunch special of the BBQ chicken sandwich with 2 sides. Decently priced.

A colleague and I stopped in Reverie today for lunch. First off, the owner helped us at the counter where we ordered our food. She treated us as if we were family. Customer service goes a long way in my book! We both ordered the BBQ Sundae. Mine with 3 kinds of meat, his with pork. The portion of food was more than adequate. The meat was simply fantastic. Very tasty with a hint of smoke flavor. I will definitely return!

Pulled Pork melts in your mouth and is super tasty even without sauce!

Had a chance to sample their food at the 2011 Western Open. Quite good. Talked with the owners and they are adherents to the low and slow BBQ philosophy. Shows in their cooking — also shows in their popularity. If you get a chance swing by their place in Mt Vernon.

Catering = 5 stars Cheryl and Matt cooked up an awesome assortment of BBQ meats and sides and trucked it all south to Seattle for my rehearsal dinner. They satisfied all our guests(over half imported from Texas) with their tasty food(pulled pork, pork ribs, sliced brisket and smoked chicken, «hot”/horsey slaw and greek style pasta salad). It’s been a week now and my fiancé and I are still happily eating last of leftovers.(I recommend adding some of the hot slaw to a pulled meat sandwich a la North Carolina style) Cheryl and Matt were great to work with. I ran into them during Tulip festival and they gave us some of their BBQ to try. My fiancé who absolutely hates mayo liked their slaw and potato salad, not to mention their brisket(they were sold out of everything else and my friend got the last sandwich). They helped customize the menu for the occasion(slider-sized buns, ribs, sliced brisket instead of pulled) and served everything up with a smile. Cheryl was very responsive by email, which I really appreciated. They are also reasonably priced for what they provide. Their standard catering starts at $ 16 pp including a variety of meats, 3 sides and non-alcoholic beverages(maybe dessert too, although we brought in custard instead).

Great little bbq place on the outskirts of Mount Vernon. My boyfriend and I shared the bbq sampler(for one) and a bowl of the shrimp gumbo. The sampler came with pulled pork, beef, chicken, ribs, «hot» cole slaw, potato salad, beans, and cornbread. We both loved the beef and chicken and the slaw. This place has a very friendly atmosphere and you can tell that they have a lof of loyal local customers.
