I finally got the chance to try Johnny’s and did so based on the reviews and pictures. The pizza is really good. Real deal, thin crust NY style pizza with quality ingredients. I don’t think it gets my wow factor but it was a really good pie. I had the fried ravioli for an appetizer and they were fantastic. The big disappointment for me, their red sauce. It taste just like any old can or jar sauce. No hint of that homemade flavor at all. The service was outstanding and my waitress was as friendly as could be. So were the pizza makers. However, for super thin crust pizza cooked in thin square metal pizza pans like many moms use to make, I highly recommend a little dive bar called Len and Joes in Port Jervis, NY. They remain the absolute best!!! Get a mixed pie(mozzarella and cheddar) light on the sauce and ask for it crispy. You will be in for a real treat.

Whenever I travel from California to Westchester County, I always manage to eat at Johnny’s at least twice! The pizza is so delicious and the family’s hospitality is second to none. You will feel like you are home. It is a treasure you shouldn’t miss.

Pizza is pretty good, only thing that sucks is the wait and placing an order over the phone. But I guess if you are getting a lot of business, you can’t waste time being pleasant.

Best pizza I’ve ever had. I like thin pizza, and this is thin and crispy. When you can pick up a slice and it stays flat, that’s the best. I just wish I lived closer!

my hands down, #1 all time, go-to pizza place. NOTE: this not the place for you if you are looking for quirky ambiance(it’s a classic looking joint, with walls adorned with seemingly endless Yankees Memorabilia). Also – no fancy craft beers or exotic wines. That being said, if you are looking for a crispy, piping hot pizza pie, rich in sauce(they put in on top of the cheese, as opposed to under) and tradition dating back to the 1940s, look no further. The servers are no-nonsense and have always been kind and attentive; I’ve been going here since infancy and have always been thanked for my business when walking out the door. Johnny’s is a true Westchester gem.

It is thin crust pizza heaven… just a bit upside down with the cheese first and sauce on top. So thin, I could probably eat a pie myself. Service is fast, staff is friendly, and on the flip side — parking is at a premium, and traffic is ever-present. If it were closer to home, we’d be regulars. Bottom line — If you are passing through, or live close by, and do not eat here you are missing out on some darn good pie.

Pizza is great! Chubby girl is rude & have no clue how to handle seating when very busy.

Don’t visit this restaurant for the service. Visit this Johnny’s for the best pizza and pasta fagioli you’ll ever have. I’ve tried all of the«top» pizza slices throughout NYC and Johnny’s is tied with Joe’s Pizza as the best. Unfortunately Johnny’s doesn’t offer slices but the pizza is so good you’ll be thankful you were forced to order a whole pie.

Amazing pizza! They are up there with the big boys(the pizza masters). The sauce on the pizza is really tasty! My favorite is the pepperoni pizza! Why? Because the flavor of the pepperoni kicks you in the mouth. It is sooo good! I would come back here again. Also amazing people who is working there. They display their family business photos and it is beautiful that they are continuing the business.

Great spot if you are in the area. Close to Yonkers Raceway/Empire City Casino. Very good old school thin crust pie. Great crust that’s cooked perfectly. Also try the house salad with the house dressing, it was very tasty. No slices, no credit cards and limited parking.

We ordered a large cheese pie and a soup to share… and it was very anticlimactic. What I liked: Their crust is perfectly crisp, flavorful, and very thin, so there’s potential to eat a lot more than usual. What I didn’t like: Maybe it was a bad night, but service was slow, inattentive, and just a little unhappy. I also didn’t care for the way they assemble their pizza — the cheese is added first then the sauce is added on top. I noticed the pizza cooled rather quickly, causing the layer of cheese to almost become one with the crust, so I found myself wondering where that stretchy, cheese bridge between my bite and my mouth was. My theory is, because the cheese is added first, it doesn’t insulate the pizza as well. That, and their sauce is on the thinner side, so it cools quickly and it just smothers the cheese. It’s just not a cheesy slice. Maybe their extra cheese pizza is, but many other great slices have amazingly cheesy goodness without having to get extra cheese. The bottom line: If you’re a person who enjoys a fresh, hot slice of pizza that comes together in hot, cheesy, saucy, savory, crispy little heavenly goodness, then you might not enjoy this pizza as much as so many others.

Can I add about 49 more stars??? The pizza is amazing… You have to come here if you live within 50 miles. Just had the pizza and I am in heaven. Perfect thin crusted pizza, just burnt enough… YUM!!!

I read all the reviews and figured why not? Most of the reviews seem to be from native North easterners, who are really set on their pie style. Keep in mind Im a Texan, and not a New Yorker or Chicago-an, so I dont usually have a hard core preference on pizza. I save that for a steak or bbq but i felt like a review from someone who is not«from the neighborhood«and didnt have any preconceived expectations except to see what this is about. 1. This has that authentic, old school joint feel that youd want from a pizza place if you are not from ny but want to experience it. 2. Its thin crust pizza with not so generous amount of toppings. Not horribly filling. I would say the price is high, but its not fair to compare ny prices to texas prices, so ymmv. Im used to a $ 15 pie feeding 4 – 5 people because its a triple meat, doughy crust stuffed with cheese. Again, apples to oranges, but if youre from out of town, dont think this is the supreme meatlovers XXL here. 3. The hot wedge sandwiches are better than the pizza imho. The sausage and peppers wedge is spot on classic italian fair. 4. The staff wasnt overly friendly or eager to make an impression on an «outsider». I say that because as soon as i ordered my drink, everyone in the place knew my southern drawl wasnt from nyc or philly lol. I felt lime i was the only person in there who didnt know everyone else. It seemed like the waitress gave a little more attention to the others, but i also understand if you know them and theyre regulars, youve got things to talk about where i am just a stranger. But it bled over into serving times for my drink, refills and food presentation. It does appear all family run. Kudos to them for that. I love spending my $$$ at a family run small biz even if it isnt perfect. 5. Cash only. I just happen to have cash in my pocket, but i had already sat down and ordered a drink before noticing the not so obvious posting about this. No biggie, just know that if youre not familiar with the neighborhood you dont want to go walking around and try and find an atm in this particular spot. 6. No slices. This seemed off to me, because i thought that was the ny way. Guess not. I prefer a place that does slices so i can mix and match when by myself traveling. Not the case this time since we all shared the spread, but if youre rolling solo, either come hungry enough for a whole pie or grab a wedge. 7. They actually have limited parking. Surprising considering many business around do not. I didnt feel like this was an extremely bad neighborhood, but it certainly was not a good one for the wife and kids to be on foot in imho.

NOWIFI NOCREDITCARDS NOSLICES Exactly what a New York pizzeria should be. Johnny’s embodies NY Old-School Pizza, the dough was light, the sauce is balanced and the cheese is fresh. Park in the private lot and have yourself a casual date. Can’t get this Pie of Perfection at the Hut or Papa J’s

Thin crust pizza is good with just the right amount of everything. Had the chicken scarpiello and that was good also. Both home runs in my opinion. As far as the place… it’s old and a bit rank but I guess it’s charming also? It could use a freshen up at least. Maybe someday.

Best damn pizza I’ve ever had. Perfect ratios of crust, cheese, and sauce. thin and crispy and the crust holds up very well. Not overwhelmingly heavy, greasy, or messy, just.perfect. Unlike some reviewers, I thought the service was friendly. Even the pizza guys said bye to us as we were leaving. Highly recommended.

If thin crust NY style pizza is what you want, this place is your jam. I have sampled both plain cheese pizza as well as pepperoni pizza. The toppings, sauce, and cheese are sparse, and the crust is incredibly thin. Almost too thin. I probably prefer my pizza just a tiny, tiny bit thicker and just a little bit chewier than the crust here at Johnny’s. This crust is crispy enough that you can’t really fold a slice without creating a seam or a crease in the pizza. Overall, the pizza here is delicious. No slices here, and cash only.

Ugh – LOVE the pizza here. Light crust, perfect amount of char, great sauce. Service could be friendlier, and they definitely charge as much as people are willing to pay for their pizza. But I’m willing!
