Coa Mexican Eatery

Tried to order food from la conner location but only mt Vernon menu online. Called la conner restaurant and they said menu was the same. We ordered carne asada which says it comes with shrimp and I verified that with employee. What we got was no shrimp but some skirt steak in such large slabs & nearly 3/​8″ thick we had to try to cut it into manageable pieces. Except all the steak had a layer of tendon/​gristle running through the entire center, couldn’t cut it or chew it. I had to spit it out in the garbage. so we ate the veggies and threw the remainder of the meat away. At $ 16 per plate I expected better.

So yummy! Not like your regular Mexican food, this place is so much better! The décor isn’t anything special, but the food and salsa makes up for it. I appreciate the service and the nice neighborhood location.

Really great Mexican food, margaritas and very friendly staff. Conveniently located. They have great deals like ½ off food Monday if you pay with cash. I highly recommend the fish tacos and el conquistador. It’s a small place and they get busy when they have their deals!!!

By far the best authentic Mexican food in Mt Vernon.. I had tres enchiladas with pork and the green sauce was to die for, not to mention the best beans and rice I have had. our waitress Adriana was a delight, not to mention they give a 20% discount to hospital employees, I like that … it’s off the beaten path but I’m sure you have GPS … will be back on Monday because if you pay with cash, your meal is half off

Taco Tuesday .
With the abundant of taco joints in the area I have tried most of them, I wasn’t impressed with COAs tacos, the fact that it has only one tortilla makes it a messy task to eat!
I would eat at a taco truck any day over COA taco Tuesday.
There other food is great!
Drinks are good also.

This is one of my go to restaurants for Mexican food. When I eat there I don’t feel like I’m eating just cheese. It’s so fresh and authentic. I don’t think I’ve ever tried Mexican food like this anywhere else. I have never had a bad meal there and their margaritas are pretty darn good.

I will keep this review short and sweet. Best Mexican food north of Mexico-​do yourself a favor and go now… you won’t be sorry!

Bathroom review:
In an otherwise nice restaurant, set in what is probably an old building and feels surprisingly modern, the bathroom is down a long, sketchy hallway past the kitchen and the dish pit.
It’s a single, unisex one-​size-​fits-​all bathroom, with a toilet and a sink.
The first thing that jumps out is a neat decorative basket holding sticks that stands tall, prominently next to the toilet. Good decoration.
There’s a baby-​changing station on the opposite wall, and a shelf above the toilet holding toilet paper.
The toilet itself is mundane, and has no seat-​covers present.
The floor is a wood-​laminate, which has a nice effect. There’s a black rug on the floor which adds padding and comfort.
The sink area is nice, with something like you’d see in a home bathroom. A modest, cabinet with sink-​on-​top, which worked fine. The wall behind the sink has a decorative glasswork, which is cool. There’s a store-​bought soap dispenser on the counter, and a commercial press-​style one on the wall. There’s a stack of paper-​towels on a decorative holder on the counter.
There’s also a big, nice mirror above the sink.
Overall, it’s a pretty nice bathroom. Although a little junky on the walk back, and no seat-​covers.

Good taste; will go here again. Fajita and their burrito’s with chicken are good

Wow– we were looking for a place to meet our daughter for a hand-​off of our Grandaughter. Half-​way for both of us was Mount Vernon. Tired of the regular spots I looked on Unilocal and found COA. It will not be our last trip to this hidden gem! Their poblano cream sauce is so good I don’t think I’d care what it is served with, but I had it with the COA bacon-​wrapped camerones and two others at the table had it on their enchiladas. Heaven! This is not your normal, average, regular old Mexican food. Fresh, unique preparations. Loved it!

This was a Unilocal find that is worth talking about. I grew up in the Southwest and honestly am quite snobby about what Mexican food makes it’s way into my GI system. I travel every week to different cities and different areas of the country and don’t expect much with the offerings of my current surroundings. I Unilocaled and found this little gem and it was a great end to our long day of being at the hospital. Super easy to find, street parking and we were the first in the door. Little tip, the front door opens on it’s own with the wind so get there early and don’t sit next to the door. First off chips and salsa are the precursor to a successful Mexican sit down for me. If your chips are cold and your salsa is full of chili powder, count me out and your review is gonna suck. Again, I grew up on this stuff, so don’t disappoint me here! Chips were on point, crispy and WARM!!! Bonus!!! Fireworks actually were set off on my taste buds when the salsa hit my tongue, YUM! Again, I grew ingesting gallons of the good stuff so don’t disappoint me peeps. Our server was pleasant, we placed our orders and our food was quick to the table. I ordered carne asada, my favorite meat du jour of the Mexican type. My flank steak was perfectly seasoned, not overcooked and tender. What could possibly make this any better, guacamole of course. When I’m traveling I really try not to bulk up on carbs so this is my go to choice, meat and veggies. The guac was smooth, with diced pico throughout and a slight touch of jalapeño. My partner had fajitas, sizzling and smelled delicious. The corn tortillas that accompanied my plate enveloped my olfactory senses and then the hit my palate with a luxurious punch of masa and salt… perfect. All in all, this was well worth venturing out in the cold, reasonably priced and pleasant atmosphere. Definitely worth a stop peeps, check it, just do it!

Great fresh Mexican food! Sometimes you feel «dirty» after you eat Mexican, not here. The food was flavorful, fresh, and delicious. The service was friendly and personable.

My boyfriend and I were running some errands in Burlington, as soon as we got into the car I looked on Unilocal.By the photos we decided here.
After driving from the mall, down a few miles and away from most of the food around and into a residential area we were a little worried. Que bright lights and a sign that read «$ 3 lime margarita «YES! Smiles ensued.
We were seated promptly. Brought water and chips, of course I knew what I wanted to drink, *hint* *hint* lime Marg! Service was great, really friendly. He had the beef burrito. It was huge! Thinking he would conquer it, but finished half. I had the enchiladas, two chicken and a beef. The green crema sauce was tasty. & made for good leftovers tonight!
Oh and the salt rim on the Marg, so yum!
& we had two baskets of chips, great thickness to them and the salsa was just right.
Will for sure be back! Great place.

Update: I just found out today that they have changed names (and ownership?) again. It is now called COA, and is a sister restaurant to the COA in Seattle… and apparently is being run by the son of the former La Casita owners here.
I haven’t been by yet, but I hope they kept those wonderful flour tortilla chips (and mole sauce)!

This is creative fusion in Mount Vernon. Simple decorations, but pura vida in taste. Yes, that is not a Mexican phrase, but since this is a fusion style, I chose to use it. From the appetizers, to the margaritas, to the bacon-​wrapped prawns, you will experience a consistent dedication to creative cuisine. Local and friendly!

Coa Mexican might be in an odd location for a restaurant, and possibly fool you to think you’ve arrived at a former house, but the first bite will alleviate those concerns. In Northwest Washington, there’s few better Mexican options. Heck, this place would stand out in Southern California or Central America. I’m from So Cal, the land of Mexican food, and have eaten Latin/​Mexican in nearly every Central American country multiple times. This place rivals those and brings wonderful service alongside affordable food that’s far better than average.
One of the best ways to gauge quality Mexican is the flavor of the meat. Do you need salsa and sauces for it to taste good or does it carry flavor from the way it was cooked? I ordered one of each of their tacos to find out: the vegetarian, chicken, beef and pork. All were incredible an packed flavor. I’m not a vegetarian, by any means, but enjoyed every bite.
I started with the Triple Dip Starter, simply to try their homemade salsas and guacamole and was impressed. Their homemade chips are thick and allow you to scoop a pile of salsa. The mango and wild cactus pico are both different that any of us our used to, but a nice change from the norm.
(And, Rebecca L — who gave this place a 1-​star, you’ve obviously never had real Mexican food. I’m guessing you think Taco Bell & Taco Del Mar is real Mexican. Please don’t blast establishments who do a wonderful job when you’re uneducated. It simply reduces any credibility in your reviews.)

So fresh and yummy. I’m a vegetarian and I was happy to see they didn’t fill my food with a can of refried beans.
