Over 20 years experience in hand-​binding books and making boxes and book structures. We specialize in limited edition artists books, and in book and paper repair and restoration.

We also make paper, marbled papers, and paste papers in house, both for sale and for use in our own bindings.

Finally, we conduct full-​day workshops at the bindery in making simple bindings, and in paper decoration techniques. Because of limited studio space, these workshops are limited to four participants, making for a fun and intimate learning experience.

History

Established in 1995.

I learned the craft of binding and book repair while in library school in the early 1990s, and fell in love with it. I started collecting the bench and hand tools associated with binding, and by 1995, was ready to have a workbench built, and opened up a hobbyist studio in my Vincennes, Indiana, home.

A decade later, after stints as an public library’s Assistant Director and Director, and after two years of work as an Information Specialist at a state DOT, I was ready to try my hand at a home-​based studio bindery, and in 2007 formally incorporated as Bound To Be Around Bindery in rural Mount Vernon, Indiana. The bindery now occupies an entire floor of my tri-​level home.
