There isn’t much that Ron can’t do. He just put together a beautiful kitchen for us. He is a skilled carpenter, with the ability to hang cabinets, soffit molding, trim, plumbing, electrical, tile and drywall. He is a pleasure to work with, and really tries to please the customer. The phone number on the front is incorrect though, it is 847−902−4284.

My husband is somewhat handy. Well at least in comparison to unhandy me who tried to put light bulbs in our new lamps for about an hour last night… and then gave up. While the hubby may be kinda handy, I have to nag him for weeks to hang things, fix things, etc. Some things are just worth paying for… and I think it’s worth paying someone to hang things, fix things, etc so I don’t have to be the nagging wife. I just let you into the secret of an almost 5 year marriage. I first found Ron from RCS Drywall & Construction pretty randomly. I had a fabulous handyman in the city(shout out to Mensch With a Wrench*) who wasn’t wiling to make the trek to the burbs no matter how much I pleaded. My friend passed on her mother-in-law’s handyman in the burbs and I called him desperate to have him put together my daughters crib on moving day since apparently it’s a liability for the movers to do so. A week before moving day the handyman called to let me know he was booked, but recommended I try Ron instead. Ron showed up at my door on moving day and saved the day by putting together my daughter’s crib, as well as helping us with some other necessary baby proofing. Since then he’s been to my house a bunch of times in just the few short months we’ve lived here. He’s always reliable, extremely pleasant and able to put anything together(and doesn’t require any nagging from my end). His hourly rate is $ 40, which is half of what I paid in the city… finally something somewhat affordable in the North Shore. I haven’t used him for anything too difficult(yet), but would’t hesitate to hire him for more involved construction work. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —
