I didn’t understand the concept of Family Practice and wanted to get a pediatrician for my children, until we started seeing Dr. Kragt at Metrodocs. He is personable, kind, caring, thorough, and takes his time to fully answer our questions whenever we go to see him. He also cares about our entire family and how we are doing holistically, and does not just focus on our physical health. He is readily available and it is not difficult to get an appointment with him. We are grateful to have such a caring, experienced and intelligent doctor for our entire family.

I have been coming to this office and dr. Joel Kragt for many years. I have figured out probably 30 years. I moved to Las Vegas and return home each summer. I continue to see dr. Kragt for my annual check up and call when necessary. He is warm, personable, and always takes as much as necessary to answer my questions and concerns. Perhaps I am a partial, but I cannot compliment the staff enough. His nurses are wonderful, efficient, and return calls within the same day. While errors do occur, I feel this office goes above and beyond to insure patients comfort and satisfaction. Having access to blood labs, X-​ray, and other diagnostic tools make for a much appreciated convenience. I cannot rave more about the dedication and honest care I have consistently received. Do not hesitate to use this office. While I agree the front reception needs to «thaw» out a bit, mentioning it to the office manager has made some inroads. Dealing with patients, phone calls, insurance companies, etc. would try my patience as well.a. Smile goes a long way…:)

Dr. John Sage has been my doctor since the day I was born … and even before. I have known this man my whole life and I trust him and his nurse Jodie with my life. HOWEVER the front office staff has been a complaint of mine for many many many many years. Ever since they let go the lady who ran the office way back when I was a kid and they had the little gumball machine near the waiting area.
the front office staff (Save Sue) have gotten worse and worse over the years. I never expect you remember everyone, but as someone that worked in a medical office, people want to be greeted with a friendly smile. and treated kindly … they do pay for you to work there!
The «portal» should be renamed to the JOKE. stop being lazy and pick up the phone and make a call. I do love my doctor … but the ladies in the front need to go!

I love my doctor but I hate this office. I have been seeing a doctor in this practice for many years. Currently I see Dr. Szabo or Dr. Lechner. When I see them they are both easy to talk to, caring, and proactive about helping me to maintain my health. That is– once I actually get to see them! Their office staff act as if they are protecting the president. The receptionists are consistently rude. When I have asked to leave a message to have my doctor call me, they transfer me to a nurse instead. I have to explain the issue again and the nurse says she will pass along the message. THEN– the nurse calls back later and says the doctor thinks you should come in. If I wanted to come in I would have scheduled an appointment! Why can I never talk to the doctor on the phone? This is exhausting. I am thinking of changing practices simply because if this. Unfortunate– since this doesn’t seem to be my doctor’s fault.

I struggled for years since I transitioned from my pediatrician at age 18 to find a «grownup» doctor, with a bunch of quacks. Finally I found Metrodocs!
I have seen Dr. Szabo, Dr. Cizek, Dr. Kragt, Dr. Sage, and Dr. Pirella for random issues over the years (coughs, aches, etc.) but Dr. Lechner is my primary and I love her! She is funny, personable, and keeps me at ease. She really takes the time to listen to what I have to say. I also like that it seems all the doctors keep the same nurse, so you get to know the nurses as well. All the doctors I’ve worked with have always been helpful, respectful, and have solved my problems to the best of their ability (I mean, sometimes a cold just needs to work its way out of your system, Doctors aren’t magic men!) Dr. Kragt also solved a crazy issue I was sure was going to land me on that Medical Mystery show, and I had been in the ER about it the day before and they couldn’t figure it out. I was so worked up over it, nervous and frustrated, but he had me laughing and relieved with his bedside manner before he even diagnosed me within my appointment time!
I’m sorry to the person who said that CVS doesn’t get the prescriptions when they are sent over, I use Walgreens and it works every time. I love it, they are usually ready by the time I check out and drive there!
I agree the front desk staff is chilly, not sure why. I’ve never seen anyone be rude to them, but we don’t know their entire job, perhaps they are on the phone with angry insurance claims the other half of their day.
The extended hours make it easy to get an appointment if you work, and the office now incorporated the imaging center next door, so if you need a CT, ultrasound, or X-​Ray, you just walk through the connector and you’re right there. Convenient!
So happy I found Metrodocs!

I am glad we are no longer using Metrodocs for my family care. After being sick (diagnosed with a virus, walking pneumonia, and several other things) for six months — within a few visits to an allergist and then a rheumatologist, they were able to determine I had an auto immune disease and not a virus. If I listened or kept going to Metrodocs, I would never have been properly diagnosed and treated. Take your business and family elsewhere.

We only switched to Metrodocs because we followed our son’s doctor from Advocate. It was a big mistake! Over the 8 years we stayed with Metrodocs, most of the doctors left for one reason or another. All I can say is, the turnover was very telling. We switched around from one doctor to the next in the practice as each one left, some in very strange ways, and then we ended up with Dr. Kragt.
Dr. Kragt is one good salesman, and it shows how this practice is focused on making money and not its patients. My family of four was pretty much sick for an entire year, with one thing after another. Each time we came in we were treating the symptoms and not the disease. My husband is a great case in point as to why you should avoid this practice and search for quality care elsewhere.
After numerous visits to Metrodocs and seeing Dr. Kragt, my husband who had been very ill for 6 months was pretty much diagnosed with what everyone else had been coming to the practice and being seen for… viruses, walking pneumonia, etc. During that time, he remained sick and worsening without any BLOOD TESTS ordered, or referrals. NOTHING!
Finally, I had enough of it and decided to talk to our son’s allergist. This was the best move, because they started checking for everything and running blood tests. From those, we were able to rule out any allergy issues and get a referral to a Rheumatologist where he was given more tests and later diagnosed with Mixed Connective Tissue Disease.
The best advice I can give anyone who wants to go to Metrodocs is STAY AWAY and go elsewhere. Doing nothing is not an option for our family, and I would think most people want to get to the root cause versus spending money for bandaids. With our great insurance, we choose better quality care and hope that you do too!
Buyer beware!

I have been taking my entire family (ranging from 4 to 34 years old) to Dr Szabo for about 5 years now, and we all love her. The other doctors are all great there too. It’s big enough to usually be able to get you in for same-​day semi-​emergencies, as well as get lab work on-​site, but small enough that the doctors and nurses remember most of the issues in your family without really looking at your chart. They actually KNOW you there. It’s nice not to feel like you’ve been run through and assembly line when it comes to your health.

I have been going to the practice for many years, even at their old location in Glenview. Dr. Kragt is a great doctor and we are now bringing our twin 15 month old boys since they were born to the clinic for checkups. A large practice but dont have to wait that long to see the doctor. I like the fact that they are open late everyday past 5 till I think 8PM and even Saturdays! I like that flexibility and the staff is very nice and pleasant. I recommend this family practice highly.

I haven’t had the same success as the last reviewer. Everyone is nice, but I have gone two times and waited ages both times. The nurse who saw my son put her hand in her mouth and then continued her assessment without washing her hands. I brought my son in for two conditions and only one was addressed. Like I mentioned the staff were wonderful, but is it worth the wait?

This office of doctors started small, and has grown quite a bit. Even though they are bigger now, the medical staff still pays the same high quality attention to your needs. My one concern is that sometimes the secretarial staff/​receptionists can be a little rigid and seem «clinical». But that usually changes once they get to know you. Once you’re past the outer office, though, you receive great care!
