Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort

Stayed at the waterpark/​hotel and loved that they offered free shuttle to the casino. We opted to drive over since it’s close. When you pull in you see the awesome eagle entrance, the casino was going through a bit of a remodel upfront so when we visit again I can see it completed but from other views they clearly care and take care of its appearance.
Honestly I didn’t realize it would be smoking (my fault, I’m allergic.) but asides from that I loved it. The store was small but well stocked in local goods.
We dined at the aurora Buffett and loved the food. I was hesitant for the price (being I’ve been to «cheap» buffets like ponderosa or old country where the food quality is not at all a goal) and this place was really realllly good. The waiter we had was amazing and kept our drinks coming and cleaned the plates off as soon as we stepped away for the next plate and the food was delicious. I love how they offer different «cuisines» (aka Mexican, Chinese, Italian). We didn’t game but the floor looked nice, a really large array and staff was EVERYWHERE (which lack there of can be an issue some places) so I think it’s worth the trip :)

My hubby and I just stayed for one night in the hotel and gambled a little. First we went to the water lily for lunch. I’ve eaten here a few times, and I always get the olive burger! It’s very yummy. I miss their old fries though!!! We checked into our room around 4. It was a beautiful room! The soaking tub and fire place were very nice. I was happy!
We gambled most of the night and had a good time! We like to play the craps table, and the staff made it fun.
Only reason I can’t give it 5 stars is we ordered room service, and the food was extremely over priced for what it is. Sadly. It’s all frozen, processed food. Step up your game soaring eagle!!! You could make fresh chicken tenders! Then I would gladly pay $ 12! But for some frozen processed crap?! Boo!!!
Overall we love coming to soaring eagle and will be back! I hope someone up top reads this review and makes their quality of food match their prices!

By far the worst casino in Michigan. They treat you like a red headed step child. Buddy had a bet he won at a table and went to the washroom before the bet paid… They forfeited his bet and took his money… a $ 100 payout.
This casino is most likely run by Al-​Qaeda. If you wanna give money away to this crap hole, Good luck. You won’t need it. Cause by the time you read this, they already robbed your home and kidnapped your children.
FYI, I’m up for the day so I’m not bitter. Really.

Four of us ladies went for a two night stay February 11 and 12^th (Thursday and Friday). You have to book this hotel early, as they are sold out nearly every weekend. Please remember to tip your bell hop generously! We had LOTS of bags with food, drinks and luggage. We tipped him $ 20 and I think we made his day! He was very nice and stayed with us a bit to make small talk. What this hotel ALWAYS does right is their customer service! Your first impression of the hotel is the bell hop and valet, it helps that they are so welcoming.
Rooms are neat and clean, Bath and Body Works products, shampoo, conditioner & body lotion. In room coffee. We ordered room service for breakfast it was prompt and hot. They really need to revise the card you use to order your food, it was bit confusing so they had to call us about 30 minutes the delivery time to clear up the issue. While they woke us up, I was glad they called to clarify as opposed to guessing.
The real reason for the review is the casino. I was looking online for a list of the slots and couldn’t find any. Something I always remember for this casino is it doesn’t pay out that well. So if you’re used to aggressive gambling on the slots, back off a bit here, you’re not going to win a lot. That being said, it’s still fun. Just gamble conservatively. The most you’re going to win off of any machine might be $ 200. If your playing and hit a bonus of $ 150, cash out! That is not to say that there weren’t any hand pays, I saw two in two days. But for the most part, no one was winning large amounts. No Wonka of any sort, no Wizard of Oz and no DiVinci Diamond. They do, however, have Better Off Ed, which for us ladies, we loved! I’ve played it in Detroit and all of us were cheering and yelling at the machine, causing a crowed to appear. We had a blast! So bet, have fun, but really limit your bankroll here, this is not a $ 400 dollar a day casino, you’ll lose it all, try $ 200 and bet slowly and conservatively. As an active MGM and Greektown player, I will say that lately I’ve been having more fun at Greektown. The payouts are smaller than MGM but you get more bonuses, making play longer and more fun. This casino should take note.
Back to their customer service, my mother-​in-​law, who had a stroke a few years ago and can still be forgetful, lost her ticket, and low and behold, SOMEONE TURNED IT IN! They tracked it to her players card and called her name over the speaker and handed over her ticket. Unreal! That would NEVER happen in Detroit. It was only $ 19.00, but wow! Drink of the day is only like $ 2.50, make sure you ask for it, good cheap drinks!
All of us ladies had spa treatments. Beautiful rooms. My only complaint is that the waiting area is mixed company so I’m sitting in a robe, with two men sitting across from me, kind of odd. Great massage! Locker room was nice, showers could have been better, it would have been nice to have a special shower in there, they looked almost institutionalized. Had there have been one of those multiple shower heads or over head, cascading shower, I would have loved to use that after my treatment.
Went to Bingo. Again everyone there was great! It had been about 3 years since I played Bingo there, and forgot how it all worked. The ladies took their time to explain to all of us the packages and games.
I love the pool there, and with the opening of the waterpark down the street, I was hoping that there would be no kids in our pool. No such luck. There were a handful of kids splashing, playing, and having inflatables in the water. And that was fine, we just waited till the adult hours to use the pool. I was really impressed when two teenagers approached the pool in the morning and were stopped by the spa employees who informed them that they still had 15 minutes before family time began. The teenagers were polite and waited outside till the 15 minutes were up. So adult pool time is in the early morning and late evening. This pool is beautiful, by the way! Not like your typical express motel pool. Bring your swim suit, it’s worth it.
This is my fourth stay here. I love going there in the middle of winter to pretend like winter doesn’t exist. It is a wonderful little getaway. Stay at least two nights, you cannot possibly unwind enough with just one night there.

They serve you the lowest quality food of any casino I’ve been to, Legends specifically! My husband and I even had a running joke with the waitress that we’d rather have the shitty bacon, than the flat, phallic shaped sausage. BYOF for late night cravings! We don’t plan on staying here ever again.

We visited the water park because we received a gift card. Check in was long. We gave the gift card at check in for payment on the first night and paid for the second night. We were unaware that the hotel was going to charge our bank card (for the first night) which put those funds on hold. Be aware of this practice that the hotel uses. We were told that the funds would be put back in our account in 24 hours. 3 days later the hotel tells us it can take up to a week. This is an unacceptable practice they the hotel has even though we used a gift card.
The pool facilities were ok until some ones child poops in the pool. This could happen anywhere. We used the other pool and our kids thought that was good enough. We ate at the hotel restaurant. Food was ok and service was slow. I would not recommend this restaurant if one is with very hungry children and need food fast. Our room was clean and on the first floor. We could hear every thing from doors constantly slamming and voices from all side of the walls. The hotel offered crafts and movie time for the kids to keep them busy, although there was a family that left their kids unattended in the hall. We interrupted their hockey game a few times during our stay. The hotel should monitor the halls for such activities.
House keeping was amazing and met our needs accordingly.
Would I go back. Probably not worth the trouble but fun for the kids. :)

We came for a concert but the constant smoking everywhere really was disgusting. I feel sorry for the people who work here and have to inhale that second hand smoke all day. At the break between acts there was literally a cloud of smoke right outside the concert doors. I long for the day when casinos are smoke free. The venue for the show was good, seats were comfortable but, as usual, security puts a damper on anyone rushing the stage which is why I hate seeing concerts at casinos. I’m guessing it’s a fire regulation but regular concert halls let you rush the stage so why is it allowed there and not here? Good show though and good sound. The bathrooms at the casino were nice and clean.

Stayed there for a concert. Long lines at check in, but they handled it well and had every possible person at the desk to move people through. I was pleasantly surprised by my first class level room… very nice, clean, and well decorated. Beds weren’t as comfortable as I’d hoped, but otherwise the room was nice.
Concert venue was pretty spread out and sometimes we had to watch the screen as the performers were invisible from where we were sitting, and I thought I had bought good seats. My advice is get as close to center stage as you can!
Amazed that so many people still smoke so much! Wow, while our room was non smoking, it seemed everywhere else was a smoking area, even the places marked non smoking… oh well.
I will tell you that overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of our room and the service of the staff.

Just saw a great concert at the hotel/​casino. Unfortunately, can barely breathe due to such a poor ventilation system in the casino. Never saw anything like it! Will not be back.

The smoke is horrendous, and you have to walk through smoking area to get anywhere even to the non-​smoking area!

This was the third time in 6 months we stayed at the casino hotel and got a bad room. First in March we booked a non-​smoking room and got to are room and it smelled like cigarette smoke. The second time we stay another non-​smoking room that smell like urine and the shower did not work room could used a good cleaning are most recent stay was August 15 the room had a bad smell the towels smelled like cigarette smoke the bathroom needs updating and the carpet had large dark spots all over there was water /​condensation running Down the airconditioner and there was long drak hair in the bed. We never win at the casino. .we like the food coupons given when we used players club card… check-​in was good and has improved.

This Casino was cool and fun when i was 18 and when they had no other options around. I primarily play poker when available at casinos and the poker room standards and quality of dealers are way behind firekeepers (maybe because they keep all their own tips at FK) the property itself is beautiful but overall this place is played out.

We stayed at the hotel here on a Saturday night in July. Check in was quick and efficient by a courteous receptionist. We reserved a deluxe Jacuzzi room and we were not disappointed! The room had a very comfortable mattress and pillows and everything was immaculate. We sat in the jacuzzi for an hour, it was just like a hot tub! Our room also had a private patio area! We ate at the buffet and gambled for about 4 hours. It was very enjoyable and all staff we encountered were very friendly. We would do this stay again!

I have been looking forward to my nights vacation here. Although I had the absolute worst experience. My service animal was constantly questioned and I, harassed concerning him. We also had to police called on Us Based on his slight barking. In the end. After at least $ 500 spent, we were told to have our SERVICE ANIMAL LEAVE, or we would have to leave ourselves. Obviously, we chose to leave before our show and enjoying our night. I’m am EXTREMELY upset with my treatment, as well as how my disability was treated.
At all times I felt unwelcome and as though I was breaking rules.
Needless to say, I WILL NEVER be back at soaring eagle.
Honestly. This place is awful.

I’ve been here three times and have had the same general experiences, so I feel that it’s good and on higher par than Detroit casinos. The casino, as other have mentioned, makes you feel packed in like sardines. If you’re with a larger group, you might as well just branch off. It can be hard to even meander through sometimes, especially in peak hours in the evening. In the wee hours of the morning, you’ll have no problem. No, they don’t give you free alcoholic drinks, but the bar drinks aren’t that expensive. It was $ 3.50 for a bottle and $ 5 – 6 for a mixed drink. I have never been carded for anything there, but I’m 31 years old and don’t care anyway. They have free fountain pop, which is a cool perk too. It is a smoking casino, but it’s honestly not that smoky. They have a non-​smoking section, and if someone is puffing away next to you, you can easily move to one of the other thousand slot machines. I personally enjoy walking around with a cigar and a bottle of beer. They have a store to the side where you can even buy some smokes if you want. It is a very clean and secure environment. Do not go to the Legends Diner, as I noted on that review. That place is an embarrassment to the casino.
The hotel is also very nice. The rooms are very clean and somewhat upscale, with the cheapest room costing you around $ 200 for the night. We stayed a few times in a suite, and it was amazing. The staff is always helpful and courteous. The pool area is a highlight of our stays there. The pool is big and never that crowded. My friend cut his toe on a missing tile on the bottom of the pool, but we just laughed at him. They have an «over 18» time frame too if you hate swimming with pissing kids. They have a hot tub inside and outside. While they don’t allow alcohol there, nobody is really there to enforce it. They also tell you that you can’t bring your own coolers into the hotel, so pack your booze in a bag. Living south of Detroit, going here is more of a vacation than an impromptu gambling whim. It’s like going up north on a vacation AND going to a casino.

Casino: Out of the not-​very-​many casinos I’ve been to, Soaring Eagle is my favorite, and not just because it’s in Mt. Pleasant. Because it’s in a college town, there are definitely still large groups of ol people here on any given day, but there are also a lot of young people around. This makes the atmosphere much nicer, because there are a lot less sad gambling addicts bringing the mood down. I don’t feel the sort of underlying sadnees that seems to linger in all of the Detroit casinos. Plus, I routinely come out ahead by like $ 20-​$ 40. So that’s awesome.
Hotel: FABULOUS hotel. The bed was super comfortable, the room was clean… no complaints whatsoever. The pool is like bathwater, and there is an indoor and an outdoor hot tub, which are both great. Since it was cold outside, the outdoor hot tub was especially fun. There is a bonfire outside near the pool when it gets dark out, too.
Restaurants: Pricey, but so are all casino restaurants everywhere. The buffet is wonderful. The diner is somewhat reasonably priced, and also 24 hours, which was really fun to come down from our hotel room in our pjs at 1 am for fries and shakes :)

We visited Soaring Eagle on Friday Sept 23 2014…I hadn’t been here in probably 6 years. I was sad to see how run down it had become! My review is for the casino only. Even upon entering it just felt different. Smoky, kind of worn out feeling. Carpets all throughout the casino floor were dirty and dated. Machines were lack luster, outdated… monotonous. No cocktail waitresses, just an occasional cart of soft drinks went by. for pay. No free coffee/​soft drink stations. I had an average amount of success on the slots but found no new ones to excite me. The crowd playing throughout the casino were varied but largely a pretty haggard bunch. The buffet is small but had some things I enjoyed but was pretty average for $ 21. One thing that annoyed me was they bill Friday as a seafood night and there is no crab legs… just a few typical seafood choices. Bathrooms were messy. Gift store was one of the worst I’ve seen. So … All in all I guess I’m being pretty negative… but it used to be much nicer! I give 3 stars in hopes that maybe they are doing well enough and can renovate and refresh to their former level. I also have to say that Firekeeper’s in Battle Creek does better on every one of the points I criticize here about Soaring Eagle… just just seem to be more on their game and are making a more quality experience for the guests.

Confusing atmosphere.. .
I wasn’t carded once for anything. Kind of relieving, but also shocking at the same time. I am a young adult, smaller than most (around 5’9) and I have a full beard. However when I go out I’m probably carded at half of the places I go.
The places that don’t card me at least look at me and size me up… This place was secured by kids! young adult (most younger than me) security guards.
There were a ton of children with their parents in the place. Not to mention the 18yr olds gambling away their college tuition, most of them were drunk. The fire alarm was pulled twice during my visit.
It was a circus… Not sure if I will be returning anytime soon!

Due to the government allowing Native American tribes to have gambling casinos, strange things sometimes happen, like having a huge casino/​hotel in the middle of nowhere… Such is the case with Soaring Eagle. You drive past small strip malls and empty fields, then BAM, a giant hotel casino, complete with giant video sign out front, just like you’d see in Vegas (though about half sized).
The casino itself is the best tribal casino I have ever seen. You would be hard-​pressed to find a better one in the mid-​west. It is large, the décor is nice, and it is maintained very well. It’s not quite the glitz and glamor of some of the Vegas casinos, but it’s definitely on the nice side.
SOARING EAGLE HAS ONE HUGE DRAWBACK: THEY STILL ALLOW SMOKING. This is why I will never give them a ⁵⁄₅ review. I am withholding that final star until they eliminate smoking in the casino (just as all the restaurants/​bars/​public places do in the state). They are given an exception to the state’s ban on public smoking, because they are tribal. I wonder if they realize how much business they lose because of this? I have numerous friends, co-​workers, and family who actively avoid Soaring Eagle because of the smoke. What a shame. We would attend the casino (and events at the casino) MUCH more often if they did not allow smoking!
The rooms are nice. Everything was clean, and looked practically new! Unfortunately, the bathroom had no window, and no exhaust vent. Where is the bad air supposed to go? Beyond that, the rooms are nice.
I’ve eaten in two of the restaurants on property. Both were nice.
CAUTION… The hotel/​casino has a VERY sprawling layout! If you are with someone who is not very mobile (and doesn’t have a scooter), it may be a problem. The distance from a room to the diner in the casino has to be several football fields long.
This hotel definitely skews towards older guests (like most Native casinos), however the pool and the kids zone/​arcade have lead to families visiting as well. Young singles… Sorry, this isn’t the place for you.
BOTTOM LINE: The best tribal casino I have ever seen. Great in almost every way, except that it is often as smokey as an ash tray.

This review is for the casino, as I’ve never actually stayed at the hotel despite coming here countless times.
My hometown is about a 1 hour drive from this casino, so as a young guy influenced by the massive boom in poker popularity about 10 years ago, I took my fair share of trips here as a college student. I hadn’t been in several years, but recently on a lark a friend and I decided to make the drive for a couple hours worth of gambling. I’m glad we did it, since for years it was my only real casino experience, and after seeing the whole casino spectrum over the last few years, I was able to put this place in perspective: For damn sure not Vegas, but you can do a hell of a lot worse (and I have)!
I really only play two games, poker and craps. Although the poker room is not as vibrant and bustling as it used to be, there is still plenty of action on a weekend night. As for the players, if you take them at their word they are all poker experts, which seems to be at odds with their current situation busting out at the 3 – 6 limit hold ‘em tables. Enough tables/​games to keep most people happy.
The craps tables are awesome – not sure if they had always had them as I am new to playing craps, but the table minimums top out at $ 10 and they even had a $ 5 table going for a while early on on a Saturday (!!!) night. I haven’t been to any of the Detroit casinos in years but I doubt they can even come close on that front.
Despite all the pros, there are some cons. I won’t mention the smoke: It’s a casino, for gods sake. If you want fresh air you’re in the wrong place. But why am I paying for drinks while I gamble? And the location brings an… interesting set of clientele. Every casino has its mandatory sad, chain smoking, senior citizens, but this place is something else. All in all, though, this is a damn fine place to throw away your money.
