History

Established in 1989.

Owner Chris Nicholas moved from Pittsburgh to Charleston shortly before Hurricane Hugo devastated the Lowcountry in 1989.

People were removing trees and leaving stumps, so Chris and his wife, Jayne, a native of Charleston, bought a stump grinder and began Charleston Stump Stompers.

Since then, they have grown their company from a stump removal service to a full-​service, expert tree company, serving residential and commercial customers in the tri-​county area for 20 years.

Chris Nicholas is the owner of Charleston Stump Stompers & Tree Service.

Our all-​local, expert crew specializes in all facets of tree service, including hazardous tree and limb removals, always using proper and safe procedures.

We utilize professional tree climbers, bucket trucks, stump grinders, chippers, dump trucks and trained groundsmen to get each job done competently and completely, and our final cleanup is legendary.
