Probably a good choice for routine maintenance but be wary of going there for major work (particularly on AWD vehicles). My impression is that they are honest but they mis-​diagnosed my car and it would have cost me 1000’s if I had gone with their recommendation. I wish they had just told me that they were unsure. I’m still giving them 3-​stars because they came across as honest and I was impressed with the thought-​process and communication of the mechanic that drove my car (even if his diagnosis was wrong). The place seemed well organized.
To be fair, I took my car in when they were overloaded and they squeezed me in because I was in from out of town. So, I feel guilty leaving a mixed review. But communication was so-​so to poor. I never received a callback with status and always had to call them — that might have been timing. They ended up diagnosing that I needed a new transmission and tried to find me a used one. That just didn’t seem right as it wouldn’t explain all of my symptoms so I ended up picking up the car and driving it back home (5 hours). I made it home and took it to a place that specializes in my make of car — the diagnosis was wrong — the transmission was fine and the problem was the differential (which is attached to the transmission so they were close). I would have given them a 5-​star review if their diagnosis had turned out to be correct. I also was annoyed that, when I went to pick up the car, the owner casually commented that I should probably tow the car home as the drive belts were ready to pop. If he had told me that before pickup, I would have asked them to replace them but I suspect they didn’t want to do alone since they were overloaded and I had implied that I was considering towing it. No big deal — I picked up them up at Autozone on my way home with a 10 dollar tool set and had them both replaced in 20 mins. And he gave me a name of a used car wholesaler who might buy my car so I didn’t have to risk driving it home with a problem. That struck me as bizarre — the car only has 75k miles on it.
Anyways, they didn’t charge me a dime for the wrong diagnosis so I probably should complain too much. I would send friends there for routine maintenance and straight forward issues.

Finding a good auto mechanic is like finding a good doctor when you move to a new area, as I did recently. When the door handle of my van seized up I found the other good reviews of C&M and called them. They were accommodating right from the start, and although the mechanics all appeared to be busy, they took the time to fix the problem once I got there. Their fee was extremely reasonable I thought. Not a week later the hatch handle broke and they were very gracious when I had to reschedule my appointment a couple of times. When I got the van into the shop they looked at it immediately, ordered the part and the following day installed it while I waited. Fast, efficient and NICE. Ben even brought my vehicle right up to the front door when I left because it was pouring down rain. Such great service at a decent price. Thank you Ben and crew.

This is a place you can trust. I went in thinking I would have to drop hundreds to fix my car. Nope. Just needed and oil change!!! I love this place!!! They are the real deal!

you seriously won’t find better than these guys in the entire charleston area. they are honest, incredibly nice, and amazing at what they do. I most recently went to them expecting to need a new tire and rim, which would cost approx $ 350. they were able to repair my old tire AND rim saving me hundreds. they truly care about their customers and stand out in a sea of shady auto shops as a perfect example of southern hospitality and charm! highly recommended for even the smallest of repairs.

So nice, honest, and competent. I am here from out of town and had a nail in my tire. It was fixed quickly and they did not try to sell me a new tire because I didn’t need it. Great place and I will always use them when I am in town.

This review is long overdue as I have had my VW worked on by the guys at C&M 3 times (most recently had the drains on my Passat cleared after I found water on my floorboard). They have become my go-​to shop whenever I need work done because they not only recognize the problem immediately, they fix it for far less than the dealership. Ben and the crew at C&M are great and I will continue to give them my business.
