I ate here on a Sunday afternoon. It’s a cute little café on a cute street. The food was tasty and price reasonable. I can’t say it’s the best Indian food I’ve ever had; but it’s great for the area and very flavorful. A photo of a casually dressed Bill Clinton picking up a take-out order hangs on the wall. So I if it’s good enough for him

I really like and appreciate this place. I have been a lot since it opened and I usually order a savory Lassi– which is delicious. I have also had several of the fresh juices– all tasty satisfying. I am eager to buy some fresh spices and to see what food items they add in the coming months. I am very happy to see small businesses open and succeed in MK. A couple of times I have ordered food from the Little Kebab Station but eaten it in the LSB– it is a calmer environment. I hope MK supports this place!

When I was traveling in India last month, a day would not pass when we would not drive by a small town or village and there would be a spice seller displaying his or her goods, a rainbow of brilliant yellows, reds and oranges shimmering in the mid day sun. I longed to have the chance to stop and explore such spicy offerings but inevitably we were in haste so my admirations were limited to a brief but heady moment passing by with my face pressed up against the car window, lol. I was not completely forlorn though as I knew that a new business had just opened right before I left my home in NY-Little Spice Bazaar. Being a big fan of its sister business, Little Kabab Station, I knew that whatever gifts for friends and spices for me that I would have wanted to buy in India would easily be found back in Mount Kisco. And find I did! All the basics I had to have and even something I had never seen before-whole tumeric! The Garam Masala mix was so intoxicating to one of my friends that she somehow sniffed it too closely and ended up with a bunch of it in her nose. She must be reliving her Studio 54 Days, Delhi style… ;))) I love that the spice bar is self-service making the acquisition an interactive experience. The presentation in little tin boxes with transparent covers is adorable. Stack a few in one of the coffee type paper bags for a great giftie. Worked for me! Besides spices, there is a magnificent lassi bar, Monsieur Singh’s(the Magique Almond one was divine), juices, light bites and prepackaged goods(rice, beans, teas, etc) direct from India. They even sell my favorite drink-LIMCA! Décor wise Bonnie and her team have another unique, warm and inviting space highlighted with Indian elements and touches. A place not to be missed! And don’t forget to visit LKS two doors down…

Have you ever had Lassi? Better yet, have you ever even heard of lassi? I hadn’t. But apparently, it’s a drink«endorsed by over 1 billion Indians.» Similar to a smoothie, but lassi uses an Indian yogurt and mixes in spices and herbs like basil, rosewater, mint and more to jazz it up. It’s basically a foodie’s smoothie. The result is kind of addictive. I had my first lassi this weekend. I got a honey lassi, which consisted of honey, basil, mint and yogurt. Serious stuff. Even my 18 month old enjoyed it and I can’t get that kid to eat anything. Win win!
