History
Established in 1908.
Mt. Angel Meat Co. was established in 1908. We are a family owned business with 3 generations of family meat processing. First, Joe Blain started cutting meat in World War 2 on his Navy ship, before eventually starting his own company. His step son, Eric Fietz (Current Owner) started cutting meat for Joe when he was only 12 years old. Now Eric’s kids are part of the profession and continuing on the family tradition.

Business Owner
Eric started cutting meat when he was only 12 years old. He learned from his step-father, Joe Blain, who started cutting meat back in World War 2 on his Navy ship. Joe later started processing meat out of his garage with only an air conditioner and his family (including Eric), until he eventually opened up a shop just outside of Salem. Joe had over 60 years of experience in the meat business that he passed down to Eric. Eric now has over 30 years experience in the meat business, and is passing on the tradition to his kids that work at the shop with him. He takes pride in his work, his family, and his customers.
