History

Established in 1943.

Moss Landing Harbor District was formed in 1943 for the purpose of developing a harbor. In 1945 the US Congress authorized construction by the US Army Corps of Engineers, and in 1947 it officially opened. The land grant was expanded in 1967 for improvement of the harbor and wharves, docks, piers, and slips.

More recently, the first part of the North Harbor Improvement Project was completed in 2007, including a 4-lane launch ramp, paved parking, storm drains and a boat wash, a 900-foot public access wharf at the water’s edge, and a 110-foot visitor service dock alongside the wharf.
