History
Established in 2006.
CheckMates Chess Academy was started by George & Lev Krasnopolskiy, two brothers who believed that every child deserved to benefit from chess.
By creating a specialized curriculum that explained chess in terms that ALL kids could understand and relate to, along with online support and prizes, CheckMates Chess Academy has been able to teach thousands of kids in Chicago and Milwaukee how to play chess and improve their lives.
Since its conception as an Elementary School After School Program, CheckMates Chess Academy has spread with the needs of the community; to hospitals, libraries, community centers, and any other locations that kids may want to learn chess.
Meet the Business Owner
George K.
Business Owner
George Krasnopolskiy is the Co-Founder of CheckMates Chess Academy. A competitive chess player in his youth, George caught himself using chess skills in his everyday life with great success, and wanted to share this with the world.
He created a curriculum that would teach kids chess, and answer the most important question: How can I use this in my everyday life?
He found that all kids (especially those with ADD & BD) could learn to apply the skills such as consequential thinking and patience to their lives. Sports, Games, and everyday life require the skills that children are able to practice in chess, and George’s philosophy revolves around learning these skills in the fun environment.
