AutoMatch USA

I am a former sales representative and employee of AutoMatchUSA in Morton Grove, IL (until September 2015). AutoMatchUSA is a used-​car dealership with 4 locations nationwide, which was profiled on the reality TV show, The Profit (CNBC). They have plans to open several more stores nationwide. I was the top 2 sales representative there, before they terminated my employment with no valid reason, when I asked the corporate office for their help to resolve the issue I had with their managers that was ongoing.
I had complained to their corporate office (Freedom Roads/​Camping World) in Lincolnshire, IL of their management’s unethical behavior towards me (verbal abuse and not being transparent with my pay). I asked them for my complete personnel records, for my pay was in question. Their corporate office stalled me for several months while they conducted an ‘internal investigation’, but to this day has not provided me the means to calculate my pay. Then they terminated me.
I was forced to get direct deposit to a debit card, even though I asked to be paid with a check and pay stub. I was not given any break down of my pay until the DOL stepped in. I still need information, deliberately left out.
They continuously ignored me and prevent me the relevant information that will allow me to calculate my pay (i.e. dealer cost per our agreement). I have an email from their Office Manager (whom I understand still works there), denying me the information I need to calculate my pay. Hence I filed a complaint with the Department of Labor (DOL), which is pending. Apparently, their corporate office and senior management are siding with their managers.
When the corporate office thought that my complaint was dismissed by the DOL, they terminated their Regional Manager, General Manager and Sales Manager. But they are still unwilling to pay me what they owe and/​or provide me the means to calculate my pay/​commissions by providing pertinent information. They have not been transparent with me as agreed, from day one. And I believe they have never even activated my insurance benefits as well.
Even though this is a multi-​million dollar company, they have no tracking software nor CRM (customer relationship management) software that will allow sales representative to track their customers and pay. Hence, we must ask for the information. But every time I did, I was denied.
By Illinois Law, they are supposed to allow me to review my personnel records under the Personnel Records Review Act. I have been persistently asking since September 2015 to review my personnel records (from different corporate senior managers), but they continue to ignore me and not permit me to review my files, citing irrelevant reasons/​excuses. I have asked them again as recently as yesterday (May 24, 2016), when I can review my paperwork to no avail. Apparently, this unethical behavior is accepted in their corporate environment.
My request is not unreasonable and can be remedied with a click of a mouse-​button. I am dumb founded as to why they insist on a course of action and deny me my rights as an employee, unless of course they have something to hide (9 months after the fact).
I believe they are determined not to provide me this information, for it will validate my claims of deliberate non-​payment of pay/​commissions, and their manipulations of the numbers. They have already tried to fabricate the commission sheet I have been asking for, since day one. Unbeknownst to them I have a hand-​written document from their manager that is evident of their tampering.
IF THEY COULD DO THIS TO ME (SOMEONE THEY KNOW, WORK WITH AND SEE EVERYDAY). WHAT DO YOU THINK THEY WILL DO TO SOMEONE THEY DO NOT KNOW (CUSTOMERS)? Think about that.
I will plan to update this post and provide you numerous email correspondence, of my attempts to get the information I need to calculate my pay. Then you can decide for yourself, if this is ethical behavior from a corporation, whom preaches trustworthiness and character.
I am planning to send press releases to the media to inform the public of this horrendous, unethical behavior and to promote independent investigations by reporters.
I am also planning on contacting customers that may have been sold damaged vehicles without disclosure.
My objective was to get paid what they owe me, so that I can support my 2 children and to correct their process, so that they are unable to do what they did to me to others.
I forewarned them that if they did not provide me with the information I needed, and have a right to, that I would expose them on the internet. Apparently, they do not care.
At present, they seem adamant not to provide me with what I need to calculate my pay/​commission. It boggles the mind, why they would willingly choose to violate Illinois Law, if in fact they are an ethical company. Although subpoenas and interrogatories may sway their minds.
Their show moto People, Product and Process, apparently needs some restructuring.

******Second update: 1÷13÷2016 I also bought a wheel and tire warranty from automatic USA and when it came time to utilize the warranty it was void because My vehicle is used for Über. The salesman and the mgmt knew 100% what I was purchasing this vehicle for and should never have sold me this consumer warranty. I asked for my money back and they denied me. Secondly, they wrote into my loan some gear and when I recently asked for the receipt because my car was broken into and needed the receipt they told me that they’d send me the receipt if I took down the review I wrote. I told them against my better judgement, I would if they refunded me the money for the worthless warranty they sold me and send me the receipt. They denied me and I hung up on them, Dave the Mgr there called me back and told me he was just kidding and supposedly is sending me the receipt and asked for no trouble. Real professional. Still out the cost of the warranty — if I cancel I’ll only get a prorated amount back from a bunk warranty. Advise caution… there ways have not changed one bit.
******First Update: 12÷1÷2014 So I was able to negotiate a sweet deal and ended up paying another 520 dollars to pad their margins for the system I wanted because they couldn’t get the system they promised. Even though I found the products and was quoted 2600 after all this I ended up paying their profits of 20% just to get this over with… Just to verify the shady deal, I asked my sales guy if he could check that service light that he said he would when I bought it. He asked me if I bought the warranty. I didnt. He said no. Bottom line, anything written is likely BS and anything verbally promised I’d absolute BS. So they sat on my 2609 for 7 Mos and I’m treated like I’m some second rate citizen and he knew he was wrong and went and hid somewhere during the process. ha. Worst. Experience. Ever. I feel like I was just pillaged by the village people.

Poor customer service. I called about a car I was interested in buying. The woman on the phone asked for my name and number and told me she would give my info to a sales rep. Guy by the name of Steve calls me back and tells me yes the car is available. We set up an appointment for the next day at noon and he said he would have the car ready. Took the day off of work because I really need a car.
Next day I get on the train to go. I call and let them know I’m on my way. The guy in the phone says hold on my manager is telling me something about the car right now. Can I give you a call back? Sure enough he calls me back only to tell me that the car was sold last night 15 mins prior to closing. Biggest lie I’ve heard, didn’t sound truthfull at all.
Went back the other way on the train and headed home. At the end of the day I lost a day’s work, 3 hours going to and from home, and still no car. Will never think of buying a car from them.

I was looking to sell my vehicle and visited AutoMatch, CarMex, McGrath Acura and Jidd Motors. I was not interested in buying a car-​only selling my car. I found the staff (Dave and Bill) to be the most professional and courteous of the dealers I visited. The appraisal process took a reasonable amount of time and I believe we made a deal fair to both parties. We agreed on a price at 1:30 and I arrived at 5:30 with my title and keys. There were absolutely no issues with the receiving the agreed upon amount-​no «surprise» changes. The facility is well maintained and I believe they acted ethically and professionally throughout the transaction. I found AutoMatch to be a positive experience and would recommend them to others looking to sell a vehicle.

don’t be fooled by the other reviews, in my personal opinion, «Automatch USA» is by far one of the worst places to buy a car from; i had a really bad experience dealing with them, what a nightmare. from the sale people to thier management .
to make the story short, i bought a car from them and paid a deposit, they sent me a receipt so insisted that I send them an immediate payment, so on the very next morning I sent a cashier check with the rest of the money and found out by a lucy chance I guess «called the dealer to verify address» that the car was SOLD and they don’t have it, i was lucky that i was able to cancel the shipment of my cashier check and when i called them they said «oops sorry». the sale person didn’t even call me back to apologize.
they try to attract you with their prices but the moment you start a financial transaction with them. ouch, you are in trouble, so in my personal opinion; I would avoid dealing with them as the market is full of other options.

These guys want you to buy a car without anybody other than them check for issues. I knew parts in the front end needed to be replaced and the said they would fix it if i bought the car and gave them $ 500 dollars to replace the shocks. I have never had a issue with bringing a used auto to get a third party opinion of the auto. I was planning on buying a car by when they didn’t trust me to take it in for an inspection they told me to bring my mechanic to them. I would not buy a car that I know has issues without having somebody look at.

So it took me a week to get the sales manager Jeff Kruger on the phone. He has promised to reimburse me for the small repair related to the EVAP monitor/​Check Engine light. Immediately after our phone call, I faxed him the requested receipt for reimbursement. More than four days later, I haven’t gotten any acknowledgement of my fax, despite a promised confirmation phone call from him and my own 3 phone conversations with various receptionists who tell me that Jerry conveniently isn’t in, or he’s «on the other line.»
Through all of this, I still haven’t even received the car’s title in the mail yet.
I guess the small reimbursement is minimally fair (if it ever actually comes!), but it’s ridiculous that I have to chase them this much. And it doesn’t address the $ 1600+ other work that suddenly needs to be done…
When you are trying to buy a car, of course they are extremely responsive. Once you’ve bought, they’re suddenly MIA.

HORRIBLE experience! Started off fine, then 2 weeks later of still dealing with their lies and zero follow through with any reason why they did what they did… I’ve NEVER spent so much money and been treated so badly. The WORST finance dept ever! They may have the cars, but it’s the worst experience ever to close a deal!!!

Camry? Nope. Buick? Nope. Mercury? Nope. Nothing. 2 stars for a nice place. If I was making $ 60k I would buy new. These guys have niiiiice cars but not what I was looking for.

I took my car into a different shop and they told me that I needed a new pipe, costing me $ 1000. I almost fell out of my chair when I heard that. I took it into Athans the next day and Larry along with another guy looked at my car. They said that all my car needed was a simple weld on the pipe and that it will be as good as new. They said that it would cost me $ 50-​$ 100! I was soooo relieved! I love this place and definitely recommend it to anyone and everyone!

Since moving to Illinois, I was determined to find a great service place to take my BMW X5. I definitely found that with Athans. All of the technicians are very friendly and knowledgeable. They are fast and hard workers. My car has always been done when they said it would be. For shorter visits, they have an awesome waiting room that I wish was my living room. I just can’t rave enough about Billy, the Service Manager. He is perhaps the most honest Service Manager you will ever meet! I recommend this place to everyone and I will never take my current car, or future cars, anywhere else.

I live in Seattle and every Mercedes and BMW dealer in the greater Seattle area must place a «Rain Markup» on European luxury cars. I am not sure how the formula works or if there is an additional left coast tax for cars from Germany but it forced me to search the country for a better price. I looked locally and nationally for several months to find a fully loaded 2008 Mercedes GL 550 (entertainment, keyless go, lighted door sills, iPod input, Bluetooth).
I found the perfect one at Athans Motors and worked with Erika throughout the deal. She was extremely responsive and everything went smoothly. It was the least amount of stress I have ever experienced purchasing a car. When the car arrived and it was as good as new for being 3 years old. Athans did a great job detailing the vehicle and my wife loves it. (Did I mention the same GL with 12,000 more miles and NO DVD player, Keyless Go, or Bluetooth was $ 13,000 more in Seattle!) I am a happy camper!
NOTE: I tried to organize having the vehicle shipped out on my own and it was an exercise in futility. I asked Erika to find a solution and she took care of it by the end of the day. If you are thinking of doing it on your own, save yourself the brain death and have Athans take care of it!
I encourage people looking for a luxury car at a fair price to do business with Athans.

If I could give Athans Motors more stars I would. Went here for the first time to have my HID bulbs replaced. I could have went to the Audi stealership to have this performed, but wanted to give Athans Motors a try. I had my A3 worked on by Billy and his associates at his previous shop. So I knew my A3 was in good hands.
I was there a hour early for my appointment and was genuinely greeted by the Athans staff. They were attentive to me and my kids while the A3 was serviced. I talked to Earl one of the sale consultants. It was like talking to a family member. The sales staff at the OTHER dealership would never approach me and just talk. Athans is family run business and it shows through it’s GREAT customer service and professional workmanship !
This will be one of many visits to get my A3 worked on. I would highly recommend Athans to my family and friends who need automotive work.

I had aftermarket suspension installed on my BMW 135i and an alignment done at Athans Motors. They did an excellent job (I am pretty picky when it comes to cars). The place is really clean and the people that works there are really friendly. Their price is also unbeatable. It was ¹⁄₃ as much as the dealership was going to charge me. On top of that they pulled the ‘Service Engine Soon’ code for me free of charge. Highly Recommended!
