Specialties

Seaton Hackney Stables is the 2013 recipient of the Daily Record and the Health and Life magazine Best of the Best awards for Summer Camp, Place to Volunteer and Horseback Riding! The Stables has for its mandate to introduce the wonderful world of equines and a wide array of horseback riding activities to the nearby communities. We do this with enthusiasm and professionalism, with the safety of our riders and the welfare of our horses as our primary concern.

We do this regardless of income and offer many opportunities for young people to defray their expenses through our Volunteering-For-$H$-Barn-Bucks Program.

Recently, we have added several classes for our special needs riders and created special opportunities for I-Did-It-A-Long-Time-Ago-But-Forgot-How-To Adult riders, such as the inexpensive Rusty Riders club.

We also offer the Equishare program, matching riders with the right horse as a sensible alternative to horse ownership.

We also have great Trail Riding.

History

Established in 2006.

Seaton Hackney has been in existence since the early 1800’s as a breeding facility for the American Hackney pony breed. At the turn of the 19th century it was used a a training and racing facility. Ultimately it was deeded to the County of Morris who ran it as an Equestrian facility until the late 90’s when a fire damaged the main barn.

It took five years to rebuild and rehabilitate the facility which was then put out for bid. Equishare USA, LLC was the successful bidder in 2006 and undertook the daunting task of giving it back the essence of what it had been in the past.

In 2013 Seaton Hackney was the proud recipient of both the Essex and Morris Health and Living best choice award for Horseback Riding, as well as the Daily Record award for best riding camp and volunteering facility.

Meet the Business Owner

Marc S.

Business Owner

Four aspects of my life have shaped my approach towards the Equestrian world: First, the fact that I have been involved with horses since a very young age, then 4 years in the military where I have learned the value or perseverance, team work and discipline essential to running this type of business, followed by a degree in education –which helped me formulate a systematic and didactic approach to the students’ learning process and, finally, an MBA which gave me tools to integrate sound and fair financial management to the entire process. Integrating the experience gathered throughout these various stages of my life has allowed me to maintain an environment beneficial to our horses and staff as well as offer our students an exciting exposure to a variety of equestrian activities while taking into consideration their wants and needs and within a supportive and character building atmosphere
