New ownership worked wonders. Tasty items all over the menu. Check it out before it gets too popular!

This is the 3rd and last time We’re trying this place. They have improved the service considerably which was a big help. Now the issue is with the inferior maple syrup. Tasteless. We asked for real maple syrup– not available. Brand is «foxes». Really gross — ruined perfectly good pancakes. Additional criticisms would be that we ordered soft scrambled and they were too hard and the French toast was wet(not cooked through). Such a bummer because this place could be a gold mine.

Great food and service! House made potato chips with white truffle oil & Parmesan cheese were fantastic, the El Jefe Burger With chorizo, green chiles & secret seasoning was delicious, and the BBQ platter(smoked ribs, pulled pork &2 sides) was off the hook! And the desserts… save room for delights like banana cream pie with chocolate ganache, coconut cream pie & house made fruit pies. It’s BYOB and they have a cozy fireplace in the back. Try it, you won’t be sorry! One warning – they close early so check their hours!

The outside looks like a red barn– super cute. The inside is nice– very country like. Something I’m so not used to in New Jersey. Staff was friendly and food was delicious! I got a Greek salad with grilled chicken and the portion was huge! My BF got a Caribbean jerk chicken sandwhich and really enjoyed it as well.

Just came from the Minuteman. We had one of the best lunches I have had in a while here. The servers were casual, friendly, and extremely attentive. The menu is excellent, with some terrific choices from both comfort food and more creative choices. The interior is a bit rustic, but I would be lying if I said there was no charm to it at all. We’ve brought a pie home, and we will likely be back next time we are in the area.

The new version of Minuteman is fantastic — great owners, locally sourced grass-fed beef, creative specials, and terrific BBQ off the smoker out back. Very kid-friendly. And can’t forget the ice cream and homemade pies.

A standard NJ spot since 1962 redolent with memories growing up, friends who worked here through the years and menu items which have been the same forever as well as locally sourced ingredients featured in specials such as the Argentinian burger with house made chimichurri and the fried green tomato burger which were both consumed with delight at our happy table. Shakes and pies as well are worth a visit. Décor has not changed a whit but the chef has an in-house smoker and a clever palate which is making folks like me want to come back again– real soon. Thank you!

Fun place for Bernardsville locals to grab breakfast or brunch. No frills family diner with a comfortable place to sit and relax.

I brought my family here for lunch while I was waiting for my car to be repaired at New Vernon Coachworks, next door. This is a great restaurant. A casual diner-like place, with an all-american vibe. The décor is nostalgic, and the food is very good. My finicky children(ages 11,10,6) decided they did not like their selection, and the waiter was happy to exchange for something else. I’ll bet the breakfast is great, we’ll return to try it out.

I’ve come here many times over the past 10 years and was never particularly wowed enough to write a review but after my visit today I had to. When I came in today with another guest we met a gentleman(owner I think?) that was our server. We received exceptional service and he took the time to chat with us and talk about their new BBQ options. I ordered the cuban panini and it was delicious! My guest ordered the pulled pork sandwich with the hot BBQ sauce and it was equally great. What made our visit great was how the server talked about how he personally smokes the meat and develops the different sauce options. It made our visit very personal and I think I will be returning more often.

I had hoped that the change in ownership here would mean bigger and better things for the Minuteman. Alas, no. During our first visit under the new management, our order of chili and a avocado BLT wrap took over and hour(yes, that’s ONEHOUR) to arrive. We were assured that the chili was made from scratch, which was nice(and it was good), but my wrap somehow translated into a regular BLT on whole wheat bread. It was served without any condiments(can you say dry?) and there was scant bacon on it. We were offered free pie in compensation, which we refused. After speaking to the owner, my sandwich was taken off the bill. Here’s to hoping they get things together, because so far, they’re not even up to par with a bad diner.

I was excited to try this place… my excitement turned to despair. I ordered French toast and it came raw… falling apart, wet raw. I returned it(2nd time in my life returning food) and it came back with the same small pieces I had cut up. I’m sorry but that is gross! The manager/owner never came to the table. Also my bfs pancakes were tuff and Taylor ham burnt. Don’t go here. Btw this is my 2nd bad review ever…

Absolutely love this place! You can not go wrong with the burger. My husband had the pulled pork sandwich and said it was the best he’s ever tasted. The owner and staff are warm and very friendly. This is a true family restaurant that serves great comfort food. Prices are reasonable and portions are perfect. Now, on to the important stuff… the pies are perfection. My favorite is coconut custard and chocolate cream. We also love their shakes! Throw your diet out the window and enjoy everything this little gem of a Restaurant has to offer.

Very good option for lunch. They’re turkey is very good, and i recommend the Morristown club. Prices were very fair, 9 – 12 $ for a big sandwich with chips. Casual & good for families

Back in the day, I used to visit The Minuteman with my folks for a quick bite. So so Hamburger and a piece of pie with ice cream. Nothing complicated and certainly, nothing memorable. Fast forward to 2015. The Minuteman has caring new owners who have revamped the menu and made the place a destination. The place was packed the other day when we stopped in for lunch. My son ordered the half rack of ribs. I ordered a rare bacon burger with sautéed onions. The ribs were epic according to my son. My burger was rare and very tasty. And greatly appreciated. I was coming off a losing streak where the recent burgers consumed elsewhere were either medium or dead. Fries were great. The owner brought over the bill-a nice touch. He asked about our meals. Explained he had his own smoker out back. We wished him continued great success, which, judging from what I observed, and ate, he is enjoying right now. Please stop in and give The Minuteman a try.

We stumbled upon this little gem while we were road tripping through the Jersey countryside on our way to Valley Forge. This is a true family restaurant that is getting it right. The Minuteman was recently bought by an energetic couple who are investing in the menu and in the atmosphere of a country kitchen/diner and it shows. I expect Guy Fieri to walk in the door at any moment… Why I give it 5 stars: SImply, the food is excellent and at a reasonable price! The service is terrific! Evidently they have hired a lot of staff as they were practically bumping into each other. Never had to wait. The BBQ. To die for: I had the pulled pork sandwich on brioche roll. yum. Ribs… Killer. Scott, the owner, smokes the meats himself in the back. More importantly, the rub and the sauces are his own concoctions. Something about maple sugar as the key ingredient… The burgers are delish and made with fresh, grass fed, locally sourced beef. No frozen hockey pucks from industrial farms. You can feel good about eating delicious, natural foods from local farms. The pies are amazing! Warmed apple pie a-la-mode… I couldn’t fit it, but I managed to somehow put it down. Food coma… In summary, support the Minuteman for the food. Then support it for what it stands for: Family owned, family run diner that buys and hires local. This is what America is about. If you want to patronize a chain restaurant that looks at employees as cost centers and you as a profit center… well, try to enjoy the soul-less atmosphere of TGI Fridays, they are EXACTLY the same in mediocrity. Otherwise have a great meal at the Minuteman

New ownership? Obviously not one with experience. I had been told to steer clear of this place, but with new ownership, I thought I’d give it a shot. This tired, run down place is not the kind of place I’ll revisit. Currently, we are 1 of 3 customers, service was below average(had to ask for syrup for pancakes and refill on coffee) and food was not that impressive … How do you get pancakes wrong? Sad to be saying this because there are not many close places for breakfast. Just keep driving… I will.

We used to come here on occasion under the previous ownership; but, the new crew is really notching up the menu offerings nicely! The food has been really good and the redecorating is giving a nice, brighter look. It’s a really nice place to go with friends and family! Ask what the new bakery items are when you go!

The new owners bring new life and energy, while still keeping that traditional comfortable American diner feel. We went with the ribs and pulled pork smoked in the owners’ meadow creek smoker and loved it. We’ll be regulars.
