History

Established in 1979.

As of January 2016, the Morrison Inn will begin its 38th year of business. We began in 1979 serving only 25 meals our first day. We now pour 15,000 gallons of our famous margaritas and serve 50,000 pounds of complementary chips and salsa every year.

Food was terrible. Service was great though. Standard tourist trap destination. The salsa they brought first was actually good, but our entrees were lacking in technique and execution to say the least. Probably won’t be back unless we just want drinks.

Waitress was nice and accommodating. She brought out the «salsa» and apologized that I was a little watery. Seriously– I was slightly spicy water. We asked for some tomatoes to throw in I and she laughed. We were only half way joking. The queso was lackluster and the entrees were nothing to write home about — certainly not worth $ 14 a plate. I’ve been here several times and I don’t remember the food being so bad before. Was making this a tradition to meet out of town friends here but it looks like we’ll be picking another venue for margaritas and salsa.

This used to be a pretty good place years ago. Don’t waste your money here unless you are OK with almost mediocre Mexican food and expensive drinks. It would seem they have decided to rest on their laurels and milk the red rock concert goers and tourists. So much potential being wasted.

Food is way over priced, and kids menu prices are ridiculous. Most places include a drink with kids menu especially when it’s 4.95. The drink is an extra 2.45 making that pretty high for a kids menu. My daughter got a cheese quesadilla and a tiny little drink for over $ 7.00. CRAZY! Service was ok! Our waitress never checked back on us and we waited 45 minutes for our food. We will not be going back!

Save yourself the pain. Food is gross. The salsa is unidentifiable. Chips are Tostitos. Margarita’s are weak. Ruined a nice family get together. Will not be back. Giving it one star is too much.

The skinny margarita was good. The food was among the worst I have ever eaten. Everything from the salsa to the quesadilla to the quality of the salt was so subpar that we barely touched any of it. Y’all are on your own if you decide to partake of what this place has to offer. Godspeed.

The staff here was pretty friendly which goes against what other Unilocalers have suggested, but the food was subpar, even for Tex/​Mex. The bloody mary’s and the margaritas were okay… meh… Take tums, pepto, and something else to help soothe your stomach shortly after.
If I were in the area I wouldn’t go back.

The margaritas are weak. The salsa is not house made. My guess its 5250 or 505 salsa. Its way to easy to make fresh tasty salsa so why are they selling someone else’s product? Also the chips were Tostitos or some bagged product. Again a let down. Also the food is bland. This place could be packing customers in if they would step it up. Calling this place Tex-​Mex is an insult to Texans and Mexicans. Not even close. Too bad, the facility is cool and patio is nice too. Lets call Gordon Ramsey in there to sort it out. Stupid donkeys.

Stopped by The Morrison Inn after checking out Red Rocks prior to heading back to Denver to catch flight home. Its was a beautiful day without a cloud in the sky so we sat outside on the patio, so its great for sitting outside and enjoying a margarita & American Mexican food. Enjoyed the free chips & salsa brought to the table right away.
I tried margarita, but was very watered down and my burrito was okay. My friend’s food she barely touched because she said it wasn’t very good. If I come back sit on the patio, but enjoy a cold beer instead.

The only reason you come to Morrison Inn is for the patio. The rest of the restaurant is very old, dingy, and could use a big face lift. The last few times I’ve visited there is A guy who plays the guitar on the patio and he’s actually quite good, he’s always playing some kind of music for everyone to like.
Food is just kind of meh. It not bad, but not great. If you are looking for delicious Mexican food, you will be disappointed. Prices are steep for what you get. Fajitas are a safe option if you will be needing some food along with your beer or margarita.

Nice little place we stopped at for dinner. The margaritas were tasty, maybe a little bit too sweet, thought. The chips and salsa that were served at the table were OK.
I had the Numero Uno, which came with a [HUGE] burrito, an enchilada, a beef taco, beans, and rice. The meal was delicious, and the portions were massive. I could not finish the plate. It really could have feed two people.
My wife had the fish tacos, which she says are really good.
This place is certainly worth going to, especially if you’re in the area for a show at Red Rocks.

A Colorado Tradition! 3 star food and drink, 5 star PATIO.
Come on a weekend, find your way to the Patio area, get your first margarita working into your blood stream, then sit back and ENJOY!
The Morrison Inn is pretty sad, old, and run down. And it’s been that for a while. The food is nothing special. Still, there’s something special about every time you come, and it such a great choice for a really nice day when you want to sit outside!

Two bright stars. Margaritas are good and several options but too many employees hanging out in the front talking and ruining my time. I don’t care how service was before. Who you hate or don’t and what works or doesn’t. Ryan was great and friendly, quick, and very knowledgeable. If I’d be back it would be for the service he provides behind the bar. Food okay. Bar too bright. Drinks good.

Salsa was super funky and quite nasty. Never a good sign when a Mexican restaurant can’t get something as simple as a few vege and spices right.
The rest of the food was wright on par with the salsa, just quite nasty! Award winning margarita… Eeeeeeeek! Big cup of sweet and sour. You can make a much better margarita in your own kitchen for a fraction of the cost.
Not a big Unilocaler person but this place was super nasty! Eeeeeeeek! Go to Hacienda Colorado if you want good Mexican food.

Why do you go to the Morrison Inn? To sit on the large back patio on a beautiful CO day and drink jumbo margaritas that’s why! The wait staff is always friendly and on point and the food is good. It’s not over the top amazing omg that is the best thing I ever ate. but its good. Huge menu = lots of choices. And they have great nachos!

The food here isn’t great. I was expecting better green chili, at the very least. I had the fish tacos and it was pretty greasy, even though the fish was grilled. My hubby had the green chili smothered burrito and the green chili didn’t have great flavor. I think it was mostly chicken broth and not a lot of the roasted chilies.

The Morrison in is the epitome of great Tex-​Mex. It is a great place to go whether you want a quick margarita and chips or a full meal. It has always been one of my family’s favorite places to go after a Sunday Morning bike ride along the front range. It’s a great place to go after a long day of tooling around Denver West or the foothills.
The margaritas are amazing. They range from 16 to 64oz and from mid-​shelf to top-​shelf tequila. The variety of flavors are also very fun with almost every fruit flavor you could want. I highly recommend the margaritas. The food is decent Tex-​Mex with nothing spectacular to write home about. I have never had a bad meal at the Morrison Inn, so they are always very consistent in that regard. The parking is a bit of a bear in Morrison and always be mindful of the overzealous traffic cops.

Ambiance is everything & the rooftop on a sunny day here is amazing!
On a Saturday afternoon, there was a great musician when we stopped here for lunch. I was glad we got there around 11:30 to snag a table. The service was great and the people watching was fun too!
The food was not fantastic, but not bad. They have a plethora of margarita flavors and beers and that is what I would recommend.
The rooftop is up a flight of stairs, so prepare yourself for that if needed. But, parking was easy on the street and it is an affordable spot. I could totally see this being a destination for a day trip or a pre-​party spot prior to a concert.
