Arrowhead Manor Inn

The location is right off the highway it has very nice views from the back patio. It is VERY close to a nice open space. The room we stayed in was the Lions Den. It was nice, clean, the hot tub was great and in good condition. The common area was clean and well equipped. We were really happy with the guest services. They were very friendly, made sure we had everything we needed.
The only semi negative was the breakfast. For being considered a bed and breakfast the breakfast was a little disappointing. We have stayed at the Miners Pick in Idaho Springs and Castle Marne in Denver and both had full homemade custom breakfasts. This place had cereal, store bought pastries and what I have to assume was a store bought quiche. However, after reading our comments on the comment card the owner called and offered to give us a discount on our stay and on future stays. All in all, I would recommend this place if they improve their breakfast.

We had the worst anniversary ever here! We chose the Kings quarters room and from the moment we walked in something felt «off». I felt like we were being watched. Lo and behold in the middle of the night, we heard noises in the closet. There is a door in the room marked «staff only». We assumed it was a closet. There was someone in there watching tv. My husband knocked on a door in the hallway that also led into this space and a guy opened it. My husband asked what he was doing and he said he lived there and shut the door. There was a cot, a tv and lots of beer cans in there! We tried to call the staff to question this and no one answered the «call us if you need us» number. We had both had wine earlier and did not feel comfortable driving down the mountain. So we stayed, but did not sleep very well. By far the worst B&B experience we have ever had.

Let me break this down for you in consideration for most of the negative reviews I read on this place!
IT IS NOT DIRTY! I REPEAT IT IS NOT DIRTY!!! lol
That really threw me off… Anyway let’s start off with booking now! Please keep in mind this is no chain B&B this is a FAMILY owned BNB so they clearly do things how they see fit so to enjoy this really cool place PLEASE watch your booking reservations. The initial confirmation was confusing so I thought I needed to add another night but turns out I didn’t so when I called back to add the night on the guy said how he would charge my card half as well as my prior booking … But he didn’t I never even got a confirmation E mail for the added on night… So when I figured out I didn’t need the extra night I just chalked it up because I never had my account charged or a confirmation… (My bad) because when we got here they had us pay for the extended night even tho we didn’t need it, when I told her I never got a confirmation or my account charged anyway she said well you said you wanted the room so we booked it for you… well we paid it … But we aren’t going to use it because we leave back to Sacramento Thursday morning. They said if they book it by Friday they will refund us … That was frustrating but on the other hand we stayed in the master suite the «water bed» as negatively mentioned in another review is extremely comfortable! We got snowed in so they gave each guest (there was only 4 couples occupying) the option to get dinner and wine that they went to pick up for us! Wich was very nice! The staff is really nice but they aren’t so business savvy, they are all about the $ wich is kind of understandable because they are like in the middle of no where and if you see on the website there rates are discounted dramatically … The feeling is a bit off like «creepy» as also mentioned in prior reviews but it’s really not bad and it’s romantic the décor is antique style beautiful !! Yes it is OLD AND THIS IS NOT A 4 star hotel ok? Lol if you are an avid BNB goer you will understand me each bnb is set up differently. But let me tell you from the moment you walk in it is absolutely beautiful !! Also I suggest you either rent a car if your flying here from out of state lol we didn’t because we ubered all around Denver and ubered out here but they do not have any kind of taxi service out here so please be advised … we actually made friends with an über driver who agreed to come get us when we wanted to get out of we payed him cash wich most über drivers will do … Margaritte ahhhh margaritte she is a very sweet lady but be patient and prepared she is intense lol lets just say she’s very very informative lol but bless her heart she’s so nice this falls in the category as they aren’t ver business savvy or professional but hey! Your not going to get a better bnb out here! my BF and I really enjoyed it ! We loved it here and will be staying on our next trip and be a lot more pre pared haha

Bought 3 nights over this Thanksgiving holiday, showed up felt the weird energy and dirtyness of of an outdated room and couldn’t even take our jackets off, we sat there for 30 minutes and drove back to denver to relax at home. Sure $ 500+ later, but the place was just plain weird. A night at a clean Marriot would have felt far more EXCLUSIVE.
This place should be shut down due to saying: «best luxury romantic getaway», «award winning».just shut the website down, it does not match the place.
It IS OUTDATED, HAS A SCARY FEEL, and Margaritte actually wanted to convince us to sleep on a Waterbed, like the 80’s?! OMG. She tried to get us into another room, but it again was DREARY, UNCLEAN SPREAD, STAINED CARPET, ETC.
EVERYTHING is worn, outdated, and you can hear everybody move throughout the house. The only way somone could rate this high is if they regularly live in a trailer home, or show up really drunk or stoned.
Any accomodation can not go 15 years without an update/​remodel, this place is way overdue!

Arrowhead Manor could be 5 stars, if only it weren’t so weird. Yes, weird! It’s lovely, but weird!
Here is why:
1) Signs, signs, signs everywhere! My husband and I started to feel like we were being yelled at! «Don’t touch this, Don’t do that, DO NOT ENTER!!» blah blah blah.
One of the many signs in our lovely bathroom said «do not wash your makeup off with our towels and do not clean up spills with our towels. Make up and spills causes stains — you will be charged to replace the towels if they are stained.» So, of course, I spilled a little lip gloss on the counter, and there were no tissues anywhere to wipe up the small mess, so, I just left it. Then, I was a clutz and the cord to the hair dryer caused my stewed milkless coffee to fall on the floor shattering the mug and spilling coffee all over the place, including on me. My husband came running and I shouted «Wait! Don’t use a towel to wipe it up!» «Bollux!» he said! So, we wiped it up and I fretted we would be charged to clean up a spill. and for the little bit of makeup I left on the facecloth after washing my face.
Weird…
2) This is a B&B — but were hardly experienced contact with a human. The person who greeted us (after not being sure which was the front door — it’s quite a fortress — still not sure which way were were supposed to enter and leave without being yelled at by signs) didn’t make eye contact and was perhaps part robot lacking the social human experience chip. Then, when my husband was trying to find tea in the morning, was simply told «no» instead of «oh gosh, I’m sorry, would you like some coffee instead?» We did get some badly stewed coffee, but again was told «no» when he asked if there was milk. Jeez, there’s a lovely kitchen which we were shown around, but there’s no milk?
Weird…
3) Missing necessities and more weirdness:
After the lip gloss incident, I noticed there were no tissues anywhere in the room! Also, there wasn’t a hand towel anywhere near the sink (heaven forbid I use it!), but was rather hidden behind a door near the toilet. There wasn’t a garbage bin in the bathroom near the sink (my used q-​tips and plastic cup wrappers piled up on the ledge of the fancy bathtub. The room had lots of unusual extras, such as a heated floor, which I couldn’t figure out how to work, speakers to the main TV in the bathtub (but what if I wanted to watch a different program on the bathroom TV), a vibrating massaging bed, which just was weird (are we in the Poconos?), and didn’t have a light in the very dark shower, but was missing some basics. such as tissues and hand towels! Also, the shampoo and conditioner provided seemed as if it were stolen from a Motel 6 and then samples of shampoo from a magazine were laying around.
Weird…
4) I just found out there was a shuttle to Red Rocks by reading another posting here. No one told us that — that would have been great! But, again. no human contact, no one saying «Welcome, where are you from? What brings you here? Oh, you flew in from California to go to Red Rocks — oh you’re going to love it. we have a shuttle, you know!»
Weird…
We left without saying good bye to anyone, but I think there was probably a sign that said «don’t let the door hit you on the way out!»

So let me preface this by saying that prior to this last stay, we actually really liked staying here and had fairly positive impressions of the folks who run it — they always seemed to be genuinely helpful. Unfortunately, that has come to an end, and I suspect you never really know the character of someone until faced with a challenge or conflict.
My wife and I were taking our kids to their first concert, never mind first trip to Red Rocks — wanting to give them a great overall experience by also staying at Arrowhead. We were incredibly excited and had on Friday asked if they could also order us the shuttle (for the 6:30 pm start of the show) that we had taken the last time we stayed there — we got an email on Saturday morning saying it was confirmed, but for 5:15 pm… this was a bit odd, as I know the shuttle only takes about 15 minutes to get to Red Rocks. As a result, when we arrived (at 4 pm), the first thing we did was ask the person receiving us what time the shuttle was going to be there. His answer was 17:45, which caught all of us by surprise, and we even joked about how uncommon a time reference that was, at least here in the US. Even our daughter later asked us in the room what time 17:45 was (5:45).
Fast forward to 5:15 pm, and our phone rings saying the shuttle is outside and waiting. I tell them that my wife is nowhere near ready, but that we would try to get ready as fast as possible. 10 minutes later, our phone rings again, and they tell us we really need to hurry or the shuttle will leave — the other couple in the shuttle is anxious to leave. Hmm, ok perhaps they didn’t really order us a shuttle, and instead it was arranged so that we could ride along with another couple who had ordered the shuttle for their time. At this point I told the woman & man on the phone that the staff person who welcomed us to Arrowhead had told us the shuttle would be there at 5:45. Again, I tell them we will try to hurry, but that we are not quite ready to leave yet.
5 minutes later, the phone rings again, and they say the shuttle is leaving. At this point, the conversation devolves into «he said /​she said» about when the shuttle we had ordered was supposed to be there, and what we had been told by the staff person (who had originally said 17:45). As this happens, I can hear that the man & woman on the phone with me have the staff person on speaker phone at the same time. They proceed to tell me that the email said 5:15 and that’s that, while I counter that is WHY it was the first thing we asked about when we arrived — having a 5:15 shuttle pickup when we wanted to arrive at 6:30 makes no sense. Furthermore, there were 4 witnesses to the fact that our greeter had said 17:45… And just as I said this, I could hear through the phone our greeter saying something mumbled in response «[something],[something], and his two dumb-​ass kids».
At this point, more than a little upset, I decide to track down our greeter (the person who was on the speakerphone in the background of the call) and see if the lies would continue face-​to-​face — it’s gotta be hard to keep lying to people you had just greeted less than 2 hours before, and even joked about the unusual time reference. That was a fruitless search, as said person had apparently already left, there was no shuttle (it, too, had left), and the simplest way to reach the management was through the call box on the outside of the front door. The shouting continued for some time, and eventually I realized this was pointless, and they completely refused to acknowledge any wrong, much less apologize for the derogatory comments their staff person made towards our children. I left the shouting match and we drove ourselves to the concert…
Think it’s over? Nope. Sometime early this morning, we received a 2 page, single-​spaced letter from the management. Hoping for a possible apology we read it and discovered it was two pages of nonsense perpetuating how right and helpful they always were, and accusing me/​us for being completely out of control and unreasonable. FURTHERMORE, they suggested that if we were planning to have breakfast there, we should only do so if we would wait until after 9:30 (since that is the time after which it is ok to bring kids, while, mind you, breakfast ends at 10), and ONLY if we would be certain to not cause a scene. Apparently, a CUSTOMER potentially upsetting another customer is really really bad, while MANAGEMENT upsetting a customer (us) /​using derogatory comments is no cause for alarm.
BOTTOM LINE: great place if everything goes perfect… absolute nightmare if you have any disagreement with the staff — as the lady on the phone said when asked why she chose to believe her staff over 4 of her guests, «He has worked with us for a long time…» Perhaps if we had visited their business more than 3 times, she would consider that her upset customers might have a point or was telling the truth.

An awful experience. We went for a romantic getaway and got NO sleep, horribly noisy. Highway noise and could hear everything in the room above us. They must have horrible insulation and should improve it if they are charging the kind of money they charge! The mgmt left in charge overnight was not available whatsoever, told me he had too much nyquil… wow, can you believe that? The owners also do no have good business skills whatsoever. I would highly NOT recommend spending your hard earned money at this poorly ran establishment.
The owner denied having people complain about the paper thin walls… read the reviews! This place is awful.

Wow, I feel duped.
I booked a room for one night due to a concert at Red Rocks.
Very pricey, but I was game, and ultimately very disappointed. Firstly, the front door is always locked (due to safety issues as our host told us) and we had to walk through the smoking area to enter the back door throughout our stay. The King Quarters felt like a cave and we were greeted by popcorn on the carpet, holes in the wall and ceiling, and a bathroom that smelt like someone had been smoking (chronic?) in it for a month. The room did not feel clean. We did not appreciate the memory foam topping on the bed, and it left me with a backache. The bathroom door did not close, the master AV controller was broken, and the room required screws and caulking in various places. In addition, we could hear someone walking above us at all hours. Have I mentioned the luxury suites surcharge for electricity, popcorn and movies, which we did not use? For over $ 400, I did not expect this. We did not wait for our breakfast, which was served only between 8:30 AM & 9:30 AM, and left promptly.
PS — There was a large pile of hair on top of the shower drain when I stepped into it — ugh!

If I could give no stars I would. I called to schedule a showing of the facility for a wedding. The guy on the phone said I didn’t need an appt and to just show up between 2−4pm. Check in time is at 4 so they didn’t want showings then. I confirmed that I didn’t need a time setup, he said no. I drove up today, in the snow and the front door was locked and specifically said on it that you had to make an appt to see the facility. I called the same number, rang the bell with the guy on the phone and heard the bell ring in the phone and in the building. They were in the building and wouldn’t let us in! Then a woman came on the speaker and said that she didn’t know who I talked to but no one there would have said not to make an appt and that I probably called another facility. So we left. Don’t even bother with these guys

Stayed here July 2014.
Arrived at check in time and we were told over the speaker at the front door that they were really busy and to wait outside. No «come in and sit down» and we’ll be with your shortly. Waited about 10 minutes outside and they let us in. Place looks really nice, room was a bit small for the price but comfortable. When we went down for the continental breakfast I noticed the employee opening a danish that you can buy at a gas station. I thought maybe it was his snack, but no, it was microwaved and put on a plate and surrounded by berries to make it look neat. That is what they gave my girlfriend, they gave me a microwaved chocolate, chocolate chip muffin. No options, was not asked what we would like.
Considering the prices of the rooms it is not worth it. For what they charge they could provide better service.

Should not call themselves a B&B.
The booking process took too long on the phone, I wouldn’t have minded if everything she promised had been delivered. Or even some of it.
Arrived at night, wasn’t snowing, but lot was covered in snow and ice. As was the dimly lit route to our room.
The room was clean but comically tiny.
In the morning, our fruitless hunt for breakfast gave us a taste of the lack of hospitality here. We couldn’t find employees but there were cameras everywhere watching us.
We found a two way speaker and managed to talk to an employee that way. When we explained there was no breakfast, she said not every day had a warm breakfast service. That there should have been a continental bfast, and asked if we’d looked in the fridge. We thought of it, but the sign saying we shouldn’t go in the fridge and the cameras peering down at us stopped us. She said she would review the tapes to see if what we said was right. Why would we lie?
We changed rooms during our stay, but had trouble finding our new room. We assumed it was entry through the exterior like our last room. Finally we met an employee when we were confronted in the lot like burglars. We convinced the man we we’re staying there, and he showed us to our new room.
Our room was cute, but the bathroom was ice cold and took forever to heat the water. The jacuzzi tub had brown foam floating on the water.
The next day there actually was a breakfast. A nice little casserole done quiche style. But not much else, some store bought baked goods, etc.
Almost forgot to write this review. But they emailed me and told me to write a nice review and I might win something.

I made reservations for three couples as we were going to Red Rocks for a concert. I called and made three nights for 3 couples — $ 1800 in total. I was told (which I was told is wrong) that cancellation was 90 days — so roughly 2 weeks from when I made them. I was billed $ 900 within a few days — NEVER was I told that I would have a 10% cancellation fee for credit card processing. I was told tonite by one of the owners that it only has to be cancelled with 60 days but the fee covers credit card and commissions — $ 90? The other owner cancelled and gave me 90% back in less than 5 minutes. I now read the other Unilocal reviews… very frustrating. I was told to check my credit card statement in 2 – 3 days and I may get additional fees back. Oh, and whatever they charge me — I can apply to a future stay or to the winery they are opening — doesn’t sound right to me — what happen to the charge by the credit card company?

After driving past Arrowhead for a few years, my husband and I decided to come here for a date night. The unacceptable rudeness of the owners when I questioned a charge on the bill shocked me and created this 1 star review. They added a ‘luxury amenity package’ to my bill without my authorization and combined it with tax so I couldn’t separate the two fees. It took several emails and phone calls to get a response before reaching an owner and being verbally attacked for asking the question. (turns out their luxuries include water, electricity for their hot tub, and their ‘free’ popcorn and movies).
I was also turned off by other incessant and unexpected fees. For example, a note on their mirror demands that you not use their towels to remove makeup and threatens that if you get their towel dirty, there will be an extra charge.
Bottom line. The staff is nice, the room adequate, the breakfast (for an extra charge) is fine, and the view is lovely but there is no hiding the rude and cheap nature of the owners. Stay away!

We had a great stay here! Our room was cozy and the staff was helpful. We even had a complimentary breakfast included with our stay.
Upon leaving, I filled out a comment card but several months later, I was called by the staff to check and see if we had completed our payment for our stay. We had and luckily we had the confirmation, otherwise the staff was going to try and charge us more. I did not like that because I think it is unprofessional. The lady was apologetic about the mishap and offered a discount for a future stay, which I did like. She told me that they had problems with their previous staff and assured me that there would be a new staff in place the next time we visited.
Overall, a great place to stay, even though we needed the internet to complete work, and although it was advertised — it did not work in our room! (Thank goodness for smartphones.) Awesome atmosphere and scenery… beautiful balcony for breakfast, but a little disorganized as far as logistics on the B&B side.

At first glance this place looks like a European castle. When entering, I would agree that you are met by a very friendly staff and beautiful décor. But our two day stay seemed to go downhill from there. The couple’s massage that I booked along with the room was never set up. That was a big disappointment. The deck outside our room was anything but relaxing since it is less that 50 yards from a major highway. The truck and traffic noise was overwhelming. We tried to use the Internet to look for other things to do in the area, but it never worked during the 3 days we were there. Lots of apologies from the staff, but it still never changed anything. The food was good, however both days we were plagued with wrong orders, spilled coffee, and a wait of 45 minutes the first day and nearly an hour the second day. Again, there were profused apologies from both staff members present and an offer of a reduced rate for our next visit. I am pretty sure I won’t return. It seemed like the owners were really in over their head for a B & B of this size.

Booked a room for my parents because they flew in to see a concert at Red Rocks. They loved it. Nice, clean rooms, decks with forest views, delicious breakfast. As close to Red Rocks you can get (towns are remote and tiny). Glad I found this place because my parents were really pleased with the whole experience.

Tried a few times to get a reservation here and finally was able to and was it ever worth the wait! The employees are fantastic, sweet, helpful. The view was AMAZING! The upgraded breakfast was FANTASTIC. The jetted tub was SPECTACULAR! I can’t wait to go back again and get the Lion’s Den with the private terrace and hot tub. I strongly recommend this place.
