My best memories over my last four years as a student and over the course of my life have been at Milan Puskar stadium! The band is great and the show that the mountaineer football team puts on is always great! If you are new to Morgantown and it is a fall Saturday home game this is the place to be. The lines get a little long but I’m the type of person that likes to watch the game more then wait in line to buy stuff.

If you keep hearing the sound of an avalanche, you probably have a condition called Mountain Ear. Don’t worry, it won’t last (and neither will your boyfriend).
First-​Hand Experience: Info on my personal visit to this stadium — I’ve been to the stadium 3 or 4 times, but only once inside. It’s absolutely amaaaaaaaazing. The noise of the crowd is matched by the grandeur of this huge monolith of a stadium. Some of the loudest fans in the country and one of my best ever college football experiences! Amazing that this is sleepy little Morgantown.
I’ve been to every cool stadium in the UK & North America, due to my obsession with travel & sport. I’ve toured America as a musician for 7 or 8 years. In that time, I’ve seen sports games at, or visited when empty (and usually both), at almost every major stadium in US and Canada. I have pictures of most which I will upload at some point. Also, on future travels, I plan to take new pix, and add more stadia! Watch this space!

So this is one of my favourite stadiums in the country, even though I’m annoyed that on the day I played in Morgantown, nobody showed up because everyone was at thsi stadium watching their beloved WVU Mountaineers play.
It has a 60k capacity and has field turf as the surface. It has been open since 1980. It’s big and beautiful and bright yellow and blue and probably the jewel in the crown that is West Virginia.

During college football season (fall semester) this is probably the heart of Morgantown, WV.
There are without a doubt more people getting ready to pregame/​tailgate at 7am on game day than any day of the week for class.
The energy around the stadium on game day is palpable and the students are always rowdy and energetic.
The «LET’S GO… MOUNTAINEERS» chants will give you goosebumps.

Mountaineer Field is definitely a great place to tailgate! There’s a lot of room to bring your car and have a great time with some other fans. And then afterwards we all move towards the RV lots and kept the party going.
Was able to go to a game in one of the suites, and for a college football stadium, the suites were very nice and modern. The food was only okay, but I think expectations have to be managed for a college football stadium that isn’t some huge moneymaker (like at Alabama).
There are a few hotels that are very close to the stadium, and they also run shuttles back-​and-​forth so you don’t have to deal with parking issues. I appreciate that.
Mountaineer Field is a fun time.

Went to see a WV/​OK football game, stayed at the Hampton Inn which is within walking distance which is nice as I didn’t have to worry about traffic and parking. Easy to get to the stadium, they has some good food and drink choices, it has bench seats which is the same as I have when going to a Boston College game, the scoreboard was nice, plenty of fan participation, a fun evening out.

This is definitely one of the best college football parks in the country for a number of reasons. It is easy to navigate, the field is very visible from any seat in the house (even the front row), there are new display screens, and the food and drink options are vast.
Food and drink: Martin’s BBQ, Stadium brats & hot dogs which also serves 10 draft beers, including gluten free cider, WOW Chicken tenders and fries, nachos, parfaits, wraps, and the usual stadium fare (candy, chips, popcorn, pizza).
I am happy to say that along with the draft and bottled beers sold, they also now sell wine! They usually have white zinfandel, moscato, and merlot. This gluten-​free and allergic girl is very pleased!

The intensity of the fans makes the game, they are very intense here!
First team to have retractable goal posts, that’s how crazy they get here!
Great place to catch a game, if you have a chance stop by and feel the passion.

I’m not really sure what can be gained from a review of a football stadium, but I’ll attempt it anyway.
If you’re travelling to Morgantown for a game, be prepared for a traffic nightmare. It can seem at times that Morgantown was built for 8,000 residents. Add another 30,000 on game days and you’ll suddenly be extolling the virtues of horseback riding.
If you are coming to support the away team, expect some good natured ribbing. Contrary to what the popular notion may be, WVU fans are pretty friendly, especially to our new Big 12 opponents. Unless you are openly supporting Pitt, you’ll have a good time.
Some things to remember:
1. Cell phone service is not the greatest. If you have AT&T, you simply won’t be able to text or call at times (and I sincerely hope I can edit that statement soon).
2. Traffic sucks. My advice would be to research the various shuttle bus services that go to the fringes of town, or at least plan to walk. Most of the lots around the stadium are reserved. Also, this season (Fall 2014) will see the biggest construction project in several years clogging up traffic in front of Ruby Memorial.
3. They sell beer at the stadium. Enough said.

Awesome environment for a football game, literally the most populous square mile during gameday. Good atmosphere, genuine people who love to grill out, party, and have fun. The games are fun and full of tradition!

I went to the November 9^th Texas vs West Virginia football game. A few takeaways:
1. WV fans are hands down the nicest most welcoming I have encountered at a college or professional game. They went out of their way to make us feel welcomed which made the experience wonderful. Welcome to Morgantown!
2. They sell beer at the game.
3. Moonshine, had some that taste like apple caramel. So good!

If you are a Mountaineer fan, this is your sanctuary. It’s everything you can expect from a football stadium: beer, co-​eds, school spirit and a good time. If you’re not having a good time here, you aren’t trying hard enough!!! Come early and leave late!!!

Had a great time watching WVU beat Marshall, as usual. But anyway, back to the field. Awesome that they serve beer. And the concession stands and restrooms are easy to get to from the stands. Let’s go, Mountaineers!!!

They sell beer here now! Not a bad seat in the house and probably some of the most passionate fans in the game. Love the blue and gold!
LET’S GO MOUNTAINEERS!

Wow, coming from a school that doesn’t have a strong athletic program WVU is a culture shock. Especially on game day! I was impressed with how serious they took their football and showing off Mountaineer pride! Great atmosphere in the stadium as well. Food is pretty cheap in comparison to other stadiums but I learned that they just started selling beer in the stadium. This means you can’t leave during half-​time to go tail-​gate and then head back for the third quarter as people used to be able to do. WVU has an amazing band and it was pretty cool that they were able to form the state of WV while they were performing.

My first encounter with college football began when I took my son to a game at Boston College. It was OK but the fans there are either pretty subdued from watching too much mediocre football or college kids who are there more to be seen than to watch the game. The surrounding town of Newton endures the football games but protests night games and prohibits parking in their neighborhoods on game days. So much for local support. Most of the most loyal fans are either alumni or people from working class Boston and their aren’t that many of them. BC made a move to the ACC a few years back which boosted attendance for a couple of years but cost them some good rivalries with Big East teams as a result and I don’t think it benefited them in the long run.
About four years after my first game at BC, my son went to WVU and I went to my first game there. What a difference! First of all it is obvious that the school takes college athletics seriously. They are intent on recruiting and retaining talented athletes. The teams are well managed and they strive to maintain and build character in the players. The result is that their teams play with intensity, desire and cohesiveness. The town around them, Morgantown, is the most supportive football town imaginable. I will never forget the surprise of going into every manner of business and seeing signs of support and WVU merchandise. Everywhere you go people show their support with t-​shirts, hats, decals and banners.
Game Day is great. Hours of tailgating, socializing and enthusiasm, followed by steams of people heading to the stadium. Once inside, the pregame performance of the marching band is always first rate and the excitement level keeps building until the kickoff. The crowd has many different customary cheers and rituals the best of which is the thunderous «Let’s Go» from one side of the stadium followed seconds later by «Mountaineers» from the other side The Band is also great at halftime and the customary performance of «Take Me Home, Country Roads» which is sung by the fans is an impressive display of the passion of the fans for their team and their state.
I’ve been a sports fan for 50 years. I’ve been to World Series games at Fenway Park and Celtic and Bruins playoff games, so I’m not easily impressed by fan intensity, but football games at Milan Puskar Stadium are an unique experience that I would strongly recommend to any football fan unless maybe you’re a fan of Marshal or Pitt lol.

If you’ve been readingmy posts any and everyone can tell I have this special connection with everything that has association with West Virginia University and Mountaineer Field is no different.
As a NYC product I really didn’t know much about college football in comparison to everything basketball on every level. Yet and still that all changed my first game at Milan Puskar Stadium. Here I cheered on some great guys who were not only great athletes but great friends and they took the Mounties into a great dynasty of Football Greatness! There is nothing better than the Mountianeer Fans the whole stadium in full support of a team that brings extreme happiness not only to the fans in the stand but rumbling the ground and making noise bringing a great sense of happiness for the loyals across the street at Ruby Memorial Hospital who can’t make it! As a fellow Mountaineer athlete I had the great experiences in the state of the art facility to workout and get buff!
