The absolute best pan-asian restaurant in town. Service is on point. Food is always excellent. The variety of teas, the quality and taste of their sushi and a chunk chicken hotpot is the bomb. I don’t think anyone in town touches them for overall excellence.

I freaking love this place. The staff is super friendly, the portions are HUGE, and it’s pretty low key, so it is perfect for date night. If you order takeout it is prepared pretty fast, and they serve bubble tea as well as other fruity drinks.

Sadness. Lavender Café looked so promising, but it left us all highly disappointed. Our waitress was really bad with a big group. I won’t hold it against her because I know how hectic it can get– but she got so flustered that it was hard to differentiate if she was just panicking or just being plain rude. Almost everyone that ordered a drink hated theirs. It was either way too watery or had a weird after taste. My passion fruit smoothie was just alright– but it was considered the best out of all. Taiwanese Salt & Pepper Chicken is the saving grace of this restaurant. I would definitely recommend for you to try if you happen to stop by. Steer clear from the drinks!

Morgantown, Local, WV. Shop and Staff This is one of the best mom and pop shops in all of Morgantown. Everyone I spoke to said this place has very good food. I didn’t have the pleasure of eating at this restaurant, but I look forward to doing so in the future. I came here for one reason. People told me this is the best place out of three that have tapioca pearls in the drinks. I had to try what they had to offer. The lady running the counter and seating people was very nice. She told me when I wanted to add different bottoms it would cost extra. I appreciated that because I don’t think people are willing to say that very often. Drink and Experience I ordered four drinks during two separate visits. I got black tea with boba, peppermint green tea with boba and lychee, taro green tea with boba, and I had to try the cantaloupe green tea with boba. All were very good and refreshing. The boba was not the best but not the worse. I could tell it probably isn’t made fresh on a daily basis. I can understand that, but when you get fresh boba that is the best you could have. My overall experience was great and I look forward to eating at the restaurant next time and enjoying a boba drink with my meal.

Nope. There are some positives with lavender café: the staff is über friendly and attentive, and I like the fact that they have bubble tea. BUT, the bubble tea is way too sweet and tapioca was not prepared well. The Singapore noodles I ordered came out really quickly, but were dry, the noodle to veggie/meat ratio was so off, and it tasted like the chef just sprinkled a bunch of spices on the dish at the last moment. After fishing out the egg under a mound of dry noodles, I gave up eating my dinner.

You come here for solid, no nonsense tasty Taiwanese food. A bit pricey for Chinese food for a casual restaurant, but it has some great authentic dishes that make us always go back for more. Bubble tea is delicious and you can customize your order. The best chow fan beef noodles in Morgantown… actually the only place for this dish. Crispy egg noodles with fresh seafood is also a favorite. Love the authentic Taiwanese pork and pepper stir-fry. Very spicy and tasty! The steamed flounder Cantonese style(with finely julienned green onions and fresh ginger root) is our favorite, but it is best eaten at the restaurant. Tofu dishes, especially MaPo tofu remind me of home, simple but homey. Clay pot chunk chicken is another must try Taiwanese dish. Chunks of chicken and delicious morsels of whole caramel garlic cloves. Just the right amount of 5 spice and heat! I normally don’t eat sushi at a Chinese restaurant, so no comment there! Service is excellent, warm and friendly like going to a relative’s home for a meal. I hope this restaurant is here to stay.

This is a cute little hole in the wall that has some real authentic Taiwanese food. Didn’t think I would find that in Morgantown! I like to drop by occasionally for the bubble tea and always get the jasmine green milk tea or the black milk tea. Both are pretty delicious. They have the authentic/home style dishes like mapo tofu, 3-cup chicken, and a bunch of other stuff they display on a board as decoration, but aren’t listed in the menu(can’t remember off the top of my head). I don’t really dine in here too often, as it’s on the pricy end. For ex., the Taiwanese popcorn chicken appetizer was real good, crispy, not too peppery, but portion was small for what we paid. Overall, this is a pretty good find!

I’ve been going to Lavender for years and it is one of my favorite restaurants in Morgantown. I typically go for the lunch specials because it’s a good amount of food for a very good price($ 6 – 7). I typically also get a bubble tea, which I love, and they always make the tea so well. I’ve only ever had one time where there was something wrong with what I ordered, and it was immediately fixed. I’m sure I will be coming here for as long as I live in Morgantown!

I was browsing the Unilocal app looking for the hot spots in the area as I typically do when staying in a hotel. I decided to click the delivery tab and found this place. After checking out the reviews and the pictures, I decided to give Unilocal delivery service a shot. I’m happy I did, as the food arrived quickly and it was all pretty good! I started with the miso soup. The flavor there was good, however it was about 99% broth. The tofu was diced so small you hardly even knew there was any there. Next was General tso chicken. Large chicken chunks were cooked to perfection. The sauce was a hero for me, thick so it stuck to the chicken and red with chills, it had a good bite but in no way overpowering the sweet of the tso sauce. I also enjoyed mango green tea boba during this meal, as good as any other boba tea I’ve had. All in all, not the best Chinese I’ve ever had but damn good and I wouldn’t hesitate to return if I’m in the area again.

I had the Spicy Salmon Roll and my friend had the General Tsao’s Shrimp. First, the Spicy Salmon Roll: This was one of the best sushi meals I’ve had. The filling had a bit of crunch to it and was the perfect spiciness. The General Tsao’s Shrimp was given with great portion and a side of white rice. Definitely enough food for the meal. Great prices.

Good prices for lunch menu. Food was OK, servers were quite attentive, but probably because there was no one else in the place at 12:30 on a workday — do locals avoid this place for a reason?

I ate here with a group of six earlier. Food was good and tasted authentic, but had some shortcomings. I’d give them just under four stars. Scallion pancake with egg: tasty! Eggplant with brown sauce and tofu: good, a bit heavy in sauce, eggplant skin was a bit tough. They readily made it without fish sauce or oyster sauce to ensure it is vegetarian Tofu with black pepper: good Taiwanese chunk chicken in hot pot: chicken was drier than expected(overcooked?) and smothered in an overly flavored — salty and sweet — sauce Shrimp and scallops in garlic sauce: good but also heavy on sauce Steamed fish fillet in ginger scallion sauce: amazingly delicious — soft fish in a light, pleasant sauce Passionate temptation drink: nice flavor but too sweet for me. Couldn’t finish it all. Service was attentive and cooking was fast. Our waiter(possibly the owner) was very nice. Price was not bad. The above plus some other drinks came to about $ 17 per person and we had about a meal’s worth of leftovers.

This is probably the best pan-asian cuisine I’ve had in Morgantown. Food was great, prices were better! The only trouble we ran into was some customer service — everyone checked on us, but they didn’t talk to each other. My coworker and I were asked about our food order twice, our check twice, our drinks twice. My plain rice was swapped out for my coworker’s fried rice. No big deal. I would still go there again. It was very cozy and the food was great, and at least they cared to ask!

This place is quickly becoming my favorite place for Pan-Asian cuisine. Everything I have had here is delicious. From the Miso Soup(light, barely sweet, and very savory) to the sushi(as fresh as you’re going to get in Morgantown, unless there’s a restaurant with a helicopter somewhere) — I have yet to have something from this place that I didn’t like. Now, granted, I am a biggish guy, and one of the reasons for my biggishness is that I like a lot of foods. But I can honestly say that the dishes here are refreshing takes on classic Asian dishes. The General Tso’s chicken is spicy, with big chunks of chicken and vegetables. The Kim Chi has the most wonderful texture(although I doubt they make it in the most traditional way) and is eye-tearing, icewater gulping spicy. It is the single best dish for dark and dreary winter nights. My single favorite dish here is the deep fried fish cakes. They use sweet thai basil and other spices with a fish paste, and cook it into these golden sticks of deliciousness. I strongly urge you to check this place out.

Oh Lavender, I dream about you weekly. I went to WVU for college and probably went to Lavender about once a week, I’m pretty sure the people over the phone knew exactly what I was going to order. Standard order: General Tso’s Tofu, which is so so good, it’s never been lived up to in all of the towns I’ve lived in. It is crunchy on the outside but so soft and delicious on the inside. The sauce is also insanely good. Crab Rangoons, which are also a major part of my dreams. Mainly the sauce they are served with, yum. Veg Lo Mein — best lo mein I’ve had. Go here.

This palce is awesome. The décor isnt exactly awesome or even encouraging but hang in there the truly amazing thing here is the food. The sushi, vegetable dumplings and egg rolls are off the hook. The truly amazing thing to me is the General Tso’s tofu. Yes you heard me tofu. It is fried up and smothered in an amazing sauce and wow best chinese food item I have ever had. The orange chicken and many other menu items are absolutely amazing as well. The other awesome thing here is the bubble tea. What is bubble tea, well I dont wanna ruin that surprise just slide in to this place and order one. The have a huge tea menu that is sure to have a flavor for everyone in your party. The service is good and prompt and the price is a bit high but for the quality it is soo worth it.

I had a great experience here. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The food was amzing and it comes in fairly large portion sizes which makes it easy to share and taste new dishes. The have a few specialty drinks that you can order with or without the tapioca balls. I tried the udon noodle soup, which is a hardy noodle with veggies and you choice of meat cooked in a broth. The noodles were delicious, and you can order them as a platter with your choice or meat as well, instead of as a soup. I’ll tprobably order the platter next time so that I can get even more noodles. Yum.
