Don’t buy into the complainers! This place was fine.
Having read some of the other reviews, I was not happy that this was the only place available. It was more than okay. It was everything you ask for in a divey hotel… and then some. Why? 1) It’s not dirty –passed the black light scrutiny. 2) courteous staff — like really nice. 3) continental breakfast — solid.
What do you jerks expect?

Ok, I left a bad review for this place in 2012 but this past weekend we were lucky to get a room here last minute. We went in with low expectations but we’re pleasantly surprised. The bed was extremely comfortable, shower was hot, nice mini fridge. The free breakfast is not block buster, not a single tea bag. We saw they now have a lounge but we didn’t have the nerve to go inside. For the price on a game weekend, this place is great. If you are looking for upscale, this isn’t it. Our room has had improvements, new laminate flooring, paint and the AC unit worked.

At check in I requested extra pillows and was told they would be brought up. Once we got to the room, we found the room to be dirty (hairs and filth on toilet seat) and the toilet was constantly running. I called about these and again mentioned the pillows. We were getting ready to head to a game, but were told someone would come fix the toilet/​clean and bring pillows while we were gone. We later returned to a still dirty/​not working toilet and no pillows. I called again and was told they were out of pillows. At this point I just wanted to go to bed. The bed was not comfortable and the sheets did not fit it and kept coming off the corners. The comforter was gross looking and the couch was covered with stains. We will not be back. Spending almost $ 200 for this disgusting room was a terrible value.

When we got to our room, I closed the door and the handle fell off in my hand. So, I called the desk and the clerk asked me which handle had fallen off. What? Handle. Falling off. Problem. Don’t ask me which one. She very nicely changed our room to the one next to it, and said something about how the hotel was nearly sold out. (There were not many cars in the lot and it was around 9 pm.) Little did we realize this would would be even worse. On the outside of the room, the cover to the heater was coming off on one side. Inside, well, the handle at least stayed on the door. I saw a piece of plastic on the floor — trash? Really? Then I saw a small tear in the fabric of the chair. Also seemed a bit odd, but chairs can be costly to replace. But then we started noticing more and more things — dust and hair on the baseboards, dusty molding, hangers askew (when I cleaned rooms I was taught to shove them all to one side so they looked tidy). There was a brand new flatscreen TV, a clean fridge and microwave — but there were also quite a lot of dime-​sized circular holes in the wall, maybe from the mount of the last TV? I went to the bathroom and noticed the robe hook was missing from the back of the door; I later found it on top of the bathroom light fixture. There was, I kid you not, one square of toilet paper left on the roll in the dispenser. Who leaves one bedraggled square? But, whatever, we went to sleep. The loud heater kept going; I guess we should be glad it worked. The next morning I went to take a shower and *that* handle fell off in my hand as well. And then, the crowning glory, my roommate realized one of the towels was filthy with what we suspect was fecal matter.
The worst part though was that when we went to the front desk, the clerk did not care at all. He didn’t seem surprised and told us that he didn’t have access to anything in the computer that would allow him to give us a refund. (Not really sure what the computer program could possibly have done if he couldn’t access our account.) He told us his supervisor would call us later in that day, but he didn’t even know her last name when I asked for it. Needless to say, she did not call. I talked to her but apparently if you stay, they won’t refund your money. She claimed to have had many satisfied guests, but did not say how many legs those guests had.

Where do I start? Omg the WORST hotel I’ve ever been to. I got here for one night and I regretted booking the room from the second I walked in. The room. smells bad, the bathroom is tiny and there’s no tissue paper. Towels are disgusting so are the pillows and comforter and everything. The room is dark and there was a total of 4lights, 2 didn’t work,. The claimed free WiFi, it doesn’t connect to anything. Doors don’t shut well. The smoke detector in the room is broken (pulled apart). Omg it’s really disgusting. The only reason I stayed is because I needed to sleep somewhere before my conference that’s 2miles from the hotel. I spent a total of 5 hours o n the hotel but for sire it will be my last time.

Wildly unclean and wonderfully disappointing. I stayed here for a WVU basketball game and it was hands down the worst hotel I’ve ever had the displeasure of sleeping in. Where should I begin…
First we had a suite. The suite came with complimentary bloody hand prints on the wall (if you think I’m kidding please look at other reviews) and looked as though it hadn’t been cleaned since the first Bush presidency. While waiting for the person I was staying with to request a new room, I turned on the tv. The tv was a nice size although it was smeared with something. Normally I would assume it was some kind of cleaning product, but I doubt the inside of the room has ever seen a disinfectant. Each channel had quite a bit of static. I didn’t know that in 2015 tv static was still a thing. The towels in the bathroom were probably white when the hotel originally bought them, but white is not an adjective I would use to describe them (nor is clean). I’m going to note that I was in the room for about an hour before we were switched.
The second room we were given was not a suite and was cleaner in the sense that the only blood we could find was nicely hidden on the wall behind the desk. Having to write that hidden blood stains in a hotel room was an improvement has me questioning the choices I’ve made in life. The towels in the second room had a very tiny blood stain on only one of the towels. The others seemed clean (please note that I’m using clean in a very relative sense). I will compliment their shower. It was clean to the naked eye and the water pressure and hot water were both more than adequate. When it was time to sleep, we needed to push the beds apart to fit an air mattress, hence the reason we originally opted for a suite. Upon moving the beds apart we discovered a sizable pile of dirt, shards of broken glass, and exactly $ 0.47 (a quarter, two dimes, and two pennies). While the dirt and glass was disheartening, the money was a pleasant surprise. Half the room elected to use sleeping bags on the bed in lieu of having physical contact with the sheets. Those that did sleep under the covers discovered cigarette burns in the sheets. In the morning we were awoken through the paper thin walls to our neighbor’s alarm of Tomorrow from Annie. This was a another delightful surprise although it was disconcerting that we could hear him use the restroom. I could go on about the missing outlet covers and toilet seat cover that to put it politely needed replaced, but if you’ve read this far and have even the most basic of reading comprehension skills, you will choose a different place to stay.

Very clean. Bed nice. Wood floors. What a nice difference. 2 heaters which both worked very nice. Bathroom could use a bit of work but the shower was wonderful. Wifi could not get logged into even though it said it was free. The staff was great. We would definitely stay here again.

AWFUL is too short a word, & there’s no option for leaving less than one star…
Hair in the bed, FILTHY floors, bathroom looked like it hadn’t been cleaned (spots on the toilet lid from past shower spray), & when I wiped up a little spilled water on the bathroom floor the TP was BLACK from grime & crud on the floor!!!
The ceiling of the shower was filthy too.
We took our shoes into the shower room so we didn’t have to chance putting out bare feet on the disgusting floor.
Towels were stained when held up to the light.
The whole place (rooms, lobby, restaurant) looked old, shabby, & dirty.
The breakfast was pathetic too.
For $ 71 I expected the same great service I’ve had all over the country for the same price, but was very disappointed & felt like I needed a shower after leaving there.
Do yourself a favor & stay anywhere else. AWFUL!

IProbably the dirtiest, seedy «motel» I have ever been in. Left at 1^st light as soon as I could Really see the room I was in. Greasy floors and a complete disaster. No price would be low enough for me to go again.

Good god where do I start. I was trying to decide if this was the worst place I have ever stayed and I believe it is. Came here for college tour, other places were booked so when I looked on line thought just for the night can’t be too bad. It was so dirty, dust an inch thick on the floor lamp. Smelled like smoke linens were so cheap, sink missing the drain toilet seat had cracks all over it. The shower made a ear piercing sound when the water ran. The only plus and I do mean only is the water was hot and had good power. We were scared to let our bare feet touch the floor. A little party was going on next door. Sounded like they were in our room. They finally left at 11:30 and unfortunately returned around 2 am. Highway in back of us so you can hear that all night long. We slept with one eye open.

Ha I don’t know why everyone gave this place 1 or 2 stars. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! You can’t complain about a hotel that is $ 50 a night…
I thought it was good for the price I paid. We had driven 6 hours and just needed a place to spend the night before driving another 8 hours to North Carolina.
The staff was friendly, our room was clean, and a free huge breakfast.
I actually recommended this hotel to my aunt whose daughter is going to WVU next fall.

This hotel is away from the Morgantown downtown area like you’d think it would be. It’s in an area called Star City, which isn’t far off but it’s not in walking distance to anything but the WVU ball fields.
The good:
Free parking
Free (spotty) wifi
Continental breakfast
Nice front desk
The bad:
The toilet backs up easily and runs ²⁴⁄₇.
The bedding is oily and hairy.
I didn’t want to step bare foot on the floor.
The bathroom is moldy.
The bathroom fan runs ²⁴⁄₇.
The AC unit is loud.
The ugly:
The entire hotel looks sketchy. All of the rooms are beat up, run down and dirty.
A gem.

This was a place to rest and nothing more. I paid $ 60 for a basic room with two full size beds. It was overpriced for what I got. The linens were clean but a few cosmetic upgrades could not disguise what was an obviously old room. The electrical outlets were cracked and likely bent from decades of use. The windowshaker a/​c unit was loud and some cases were missing from pillows. The bathroom light fixture was cracked and a ceiling tile in the bathroom had water damage.

Not the worst motel I’ve ever stayed in. Let’s say it’s nicer then the $ 6 motels I’ve stayed in on motorcycle trips to Mexico. Better, but not much better… desk personnel was fine, but room was nasty, worn, cold… you name it. $ 66 per night ugh…

Giving a solid 2 stars. $ 133 a night plus tax for a game day weekend isn’t bad at all. The hotel is right behind the soccer stadium and a new Sheetz is right down the street. We stayed here for the OU game in November.
If you’re no longer a college student, then you may feel that the cleaning and maintenance crew could do a better job. The floor needs a cleaning. Walking around barefoot in the room our feet turned black. It was pretty gross. We wore socks at all times after realizing that. The hot water in the shower is more like luke-​warm. Outlets for charging are hidden and require unplugging lights. You may reconsider unplugging lamps as the lighting is awful. Very dark in the rooms. The heating system is iffy. In our room the heater did a fine job of warming the room but our friend’s rooms stayed cool. Security locks on all room doors are broken off. There is a fridge in the room which we loved having. They do have a free hot breakfast that ends at 9:30. It’s average at best. No shuttle service to downtown but the lone cab company will pick you up. Plan 45 minute wait and about $ 7 each to get downtown on a weekend.
All in all, this hotel served the purpose of a warm, fairly cheap room for a football weekend.

When I checked in, the man in front of me was asking for his money back because he was dissatisfied with his room. I travel all the time and I’m pretty easy going with hotel rooms so I wondered what would make someone complain about a $ 68 hotel room. How bad could it be, knowing that you chose a cheap room, to make you leave. I soon found out…
Checkin:
–The girl at the desk seemed to not care and seemed to be preoccupied with her cell phone hidden in the desk drawer.
Property:
–There was a family of rednecks living in a room below me and loitering in the parking lot.
–There was a huge group of Indian people having a loud party in hotel building next to me. Had I been staying in that building it would have surely kept me up.
Room:
–I was pleasantly surprised that the room had hardwood (laminate) floors. I’ve never seen that before. Only good thing I can say about the room. The room also had a refrigerator and a microwave, which was nice.
–Security latch was broken.
–No shampoo, just extra lotion.
–Room was generally dirty. Hair on the towels.
–Kleenexes empty.
–Couldn’t locate the Wi-​Fi network they told me to use. I found 5 other Wi-​Fi networks for Hotel Morgantown but couldn’t get on any of them.
When I arrived I dropped off my bags and had to go out. When I came home late at night I became aware of most of the things above and was too tired to try to rectify them.
Check-​out was 11 am. I travel a lot for work and not only is Noon the standard late check out time but rarely are you bothered if you’re a bit slow getting out at 11. By 11:20 I was asked by 2 different Indian people to leave, asking me if I wanted to pay for another night.
Maybe if this hotel cared a bit more about keeping their property clean and well-​maintained and less about checkout times, they wouldn’t attract they types of people you need to kick out promptly at 11.
Garbage. I stayed here last year and it was fine. Never again.

This place was absolutely horrible. I guess you get what you pay for. My husband and I needed a place to stay for one night while passing through. I booked this hotel online as it looked like a decent place to stay. Boy, were we wrong! Here is what happened:
1. The hotel staff was friendly, but that did not make up for the disgusting rooms. The first room we stayed in had stink bugs crawling all over the ceiling above the bed.
2. The faucets did not work properly and the shower (I took a shower before we saw the bugs) didn’t drain. When we told the staff we’d like a different room, they said «not to diminish your concern, but all of our rooms have bug issues».
3. We were put into another room, which thankfully had no bugs, but wreaked of cigarette smoke. As a pregnant woman already allergic to smoke, I was less than thrilled.
4. Parking was a pain as there was construction all around.
Instead of sleeping in and enjoying our night, my husband and I decided to get the minimum amount of rest and then booked it out of there the following morning. Never, ever stay here!

the only reason they’re getting two stars is because of the price per night and the proximity to where we were going while here in Morgantown. The room wasn’t the room we saw on the website when we booked the room. The room on the website had carpet. The remote control was broken and the towels were visibly stained and dirty. If we weren’t staying here for only two nights I’d be asking for a different room. We are also on the back of the complex, that backs up to a major roadway and there’s lots of noise. Request a room on the other side of the complex.

Seemed like a decent place to stay while passing through WV on the way to Kentucky for Thanksgiving; based on the below’s review. Boy we were completely disappointed. I need to list them out to better explain it.
1. TV was on when we walked into the room-​kinda creepy
2. Random hair in the bed & pillows
3. Bugs crawling on the wall
4. Stained chair…(not going to elaborate)
My boyfriend did go to the front desk to get new linens, and the staff were super apologetic and changed it right away, but the new ones were still stained but smelled clean. Probably definitely won’t be staying there if driving down Kentucky again.
