Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft

This is definitely one of the nicer Jo-Ann’s in the area. I have 2 within 15 min. of my house and I choose to drive 30 min to get to this one. The staff is very nice and very helpful and they have a better fabric selection than most others I have been too. Jo-Ann’s is definitely lacking in their knit fabric section though :(

Great place. They have a huge selection and cheap stuff. I came here to get some Velcro straps and the lady up front gladly showed me where it was. She helped me and gave me great advice:) I am happy with this place better then other places:).

Horrible customer service !!! Walked in and didn’t no they were closed practically kick me out I’v never denied a customer after 1 minute of closing and iv worked in retail for years ! Going to hobby lobby from now on!

WATCH YOUR PRICES AS THEY RING UP AT THE REGISTER!
I bought 12 items, 3 were posted at 40% off, 8 were 50%. I bought them based on that fact.
At the register, 2 items– card stock 50ct.- rang up at $ 9.99 that I thought were on sale for $ 2.00 ($ 3.99 originally). They were identical in packaging to 5 items that were on sale for $ 2.00. The texture was Vellum translucent.
There wasn’t any indication that these items were not part of the sale and were in a bin side by side with the sale items. I did not see a price for $ 9.99.
I caught the price difference at the register and declined to buy. I should have continued watching the register, but didn’t.
The other 3 items — stamp pads– seemed to be listed for 40% off. When I got home and looked at my receipt, I realized they were full price. I would not have bought them at that price if I had known.
I called the store to check on the prices and spoke with Katie the store manager. She offered to take the 40% off because the sign «was confusing» and only included stamps; not stamp pads.
When I am back in that town, she said I could bring the receipt in and ask for her and get an adjustment.
Ironically, when I searched for these items online, all the stamp pads were listed on sale.
I give the store such low marks because the pricing and sales signs are rather deceptive in my opinion.

Ughhh!!! Such a painful experience again!!! I patiently waited to ask for a price check, the older lady with the died reddish pink hair tells me to go use the price checker instead of picking up the scanner and quickly solving my inquiry, there by giving me quick and excellent service. Ah, awesome! Didn’t know they had a scanner! I go to the scanner and no joke, it doesn’t scan, the barcode was hard to reach and it wasn’t even trying to read my item. Now a little frustrated, I send the bf to ask, he is redirected to the front of the store, way out of our way, again, instead of helping us and handling our problem right then and there. Now I’m just upset. The bf asks a very kind and helpful checker, April. The only and only star I give this review goes to April. Thank you April for being so kind and helpful. If only Jo-​anns would hire more people like you!!!
To the Joann execs that likely dont even read the reviews, it’s time for change!!! Time to weed out the nasty people that work for you, give poor customer service and start training your people to treat the public like they are at Disneyland. Excellent costomer service is what will keep your business thriving.

As a small handmade business owner, I am at Jo-Ann’s all the time — but with recent customer assistance I never want to come again. I recently had Katie for cutting my fabric and she was entirely rude and unfriendly. There are never enough people working on the floor, so there are long lines for fabric and register constantly.
I think I’ll start ordering my fabric online.

While paying at the register, I presented a coupon directly from the Jo-Ann’s website. The employee refused to accept the coupon and stated «no, it’s expired.» The coupon said «valid in store and online through Saturday October 4^th. Today is Saturday October 4^th. Horrible customer service. I will not be returning to this store ever again.

I was driving around looking for this Joannes and almost did not find it. I am glad I did though. It is large and stocked with all the fabric-​y goodness that you expect from Joannes. Customer service was fast and friendly (and I even had something for the cutting table) I do not live in the area but it is nice to know that I can fin Joanns everywhere.

I have shopped on various occasions at different locations throughout California and Maryland. Usually, my experience does not involve a lot of interactions with employees save the few times I have needed to have fabric cut. What I liked about my experience shopping here is that the store was not overcrowded, it was well stocked, well kept, and the small interaction I had with employees during the purchasing process was positive. In San Jose the stores are often over crowded with shoppers who are too much of a hurry and I personally do not enjoy shopping in that kind of environment. I like the toned down feel of the Morgan Hill store.
The downside of Joann’s is the prices. They are quite expensive even with coupons and there are better deals to be had if one shops around, especially online. But sometimes, with matching thread and button colors to fabrics for instance, going to a brick and mortar store is really useful. So I have found that if I use the coupons and plan my purchases carefully for the odds and ends items I can get a really good deal at this store in addition to the fact that I can get a teacher’s discount too (one of the perks of being a homeschool mom). So I recommend shopping at this store but with using coupons and having shopped around online first to make sure you really are getting the best deal. I do not necessarily recommend buying fabrics from here or even patterns.
In general I prefer to buy fabrics for clothing from Gehman’s Country Store in Lebanon, PA via internet or from Graceful Thread’s Fabric selection online because they are not only cheaper but carry the tropical breeze, mook, and country rose lines of fabrics that most places do not carry. I mostly buy fabrics for clothing and quilting. I also do not buy patterns from here either. I prefer the pattern’s from Gehman’s Country Fabrics, Common Sense Patterns, Candle on a Hill, King’s Daughters, Sense and Sensibility, Friends Patterns, and custom made patterns from the annaBaptist Bookstore (the owner’s wife Ruby and daughter Dora are fabulous seamstresses and will draw out a custom pattern for your measurements). We dress very conservatively so it is difficult to find patterns in a place like JoAnn’s that fit our needs but the prices for patterns in JoAnn’s is high AND the patterns are those brown tissue paper kind so they are not very durable. I prefer the patterns printed on sturdy paper that can be easily traced over and used for many years. Even if you DO like the patterns they sell at Joann’s most of the time they can be found cheaper online even with the shipping. I know because on occasion I have bought some of those patterns and I was able to get at least four or five for the price of one in Joann’s.
I wanted to share my thoughts about fabric and patterns because many times I have seen ladies buying patterns at full price and over-​priced fabric and not seeming to think twice about it. I figure that maybe some people really don’t care about how they are spending their money BUT perhaps there are some who do but do not know about or maybe didn’t realize or consider some of the other options available. It’s always good to be a wise consumer whether you have money to burn or not.

The staff is hit or miss, sometimes spot on, and sometimes seemingly tired and grouchy.

If you don’t need any help at all and don’t care that the coupon you have will not work then this store is just ok.
The clerks tend to be rude and the coupons are most for things not on sale. Yes every thing is discount «10%» … therefore coupons don’t work.

My favorite craft store :) Great selection of fabrics, of course, and basic/​convenient craft supplies. Recently added a Wilton cake decorating section! Staff is very knowlegable and friendly. I shop here as much as possible rather than driving to Michaels in Gilroy because: 1) they take multiple coupons in a transaction! — 2) you can grab a coupon flyer as you walk in the door — and you usually get another coupon with your purchase. 3) they accept competitor coupons from Beverly’s and Michaels. 4) sign up for their mailing list online and snail-​mail. They have coupons good for up to a month. 5) print even more coupons from JoAnn’s website. And 6) if you’re a teacher or part of an organization you can sign up for a VIP card good for 10−15% off the rest!

I loved it here, the atmasphear even the shoppers were friendly & noticed I was buying a new sewing machine & complemented me. I will defenatly «pay» more visits here :)

I have had really poor service at the Morgan Hill Jo-Ann’s. I’ve been in there a dozen times in the last 4 months. The employees really don’t seem to care. Except for the Swedish gal, she had been so helpful, I thought she was the store manager. Then I met the store manager. Wow, I didn’t realize she was the store manager, I’m used to them wanting business. She was at the cutting table and she really didn’t want to be helping me in any way shape or form; Please note– I am not an interruption or an annoyance, I am a customer. Thank you. (Thank goodness other Jo-Ann’s are friendlier.)

I had a very different experience than the other Unilocalers who wrote on this review.
First off, when going to a large chain craft store I do not anticipate much in the way of customer service. For that I go to small local shops.
This store is very well organized in the fabric section. Fat quarters are placed in a color coded arrangement around half of the perimeter of the large fabric section. Also, the button selection is one side of an entire aisle.
The prices are also pretty decent on fabric.

I’ve been here a few times, and the customer service is horrible. Rarely will anyone greet you, or even acknowledge that you are IN their store. The one time I bought some fleece fabric here, I waited about 20 minutes plus, to have someone look my way, and say they’d be with me in a minute (was more ;) I waited, and waited, by the fabric counter, and they really just ignore the customers, until «they» are ready to deal with you.
If you need some basic materials to get a project completed, it’s an okay place to stop by (if you have time to wait for them to notice you ;) It might be quicker to drive to Gilroy though ;)

I only go there if I absolutely need to. Staff is not very friendly or helpful.

Went here last week. The most hideous customer service ever. I had a gift certificate, if I hadn’t, I would have never given them my money. I called the day before to ask when they opened and the girl told me 8. Got there at 8:45, and the door was locked and they just kept looking at me and ignoring me, despite the holiday hours sign posted on the door that said 8. (This was the week between Christmas and New Years). After waiting 10 mins I called inside, and they said «ill be right there». The manager on duty, Sharon, opened the door and said «We don’t open till 9. It says right here». I said «actually your holiday hours sign says you open at 8. She said «Those are over» (Ummm, okay, its still the holidays) I told her «I called this store yesterday and I was told 8.» She said «Well, they told you wrong». She let me in, and I was there for about 30 minutes, the phone rang and Sharon answered, and after that I heard her making fun of the customer to her staff member. Unfortunately there was no one else to help me when I checked out, so I had to ask the same woman where the pinking shears were. I said I looked and couldnt find them. She said «so theres not any over there?» I said that there probably was, but I couldnt find them. She walked over, said, «theyre right here», tapped on the package, and just walked away. Take your business elsewhere!

So i came here 2 days ago around 8pm to find fabric for my costume. After running around the store for about 20min trying to find some red satin… i go up to the cutting table. They were 2 employees standing there with their backs faced me. talking to eachother (and i know one of them saw me, but decided to keep yappin away! WOOOW REALLY?) So one of them leaves to the back as the other stayed at the table. So i ask the employee if she has seen the red satin, she said no and that its probably somewhere in the store… WTF!!! she didnt offer to help me find it or anything.
the customer service at the cashier was ok. but the ladies with the attitude definitely could kiss my a$$!
i really hope that the regional manager reads this review… THE MORGAN HILL JO-​ANNS FABRIC HAS HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!

I only go to this store if it’s a crafting emergency since it’s less than a mile from my studio. This store is dirty, dingey and poorly stocked. Katie, the cashier was really rude to me and my friend, as was Sharon, the manager on duty. I recommend driving the extra 15 minutes to Michaels in Gilroy — much better selection and much nicer staff!!!
