Paul is a no-​show, no-​call.
About two weeks ago I called Paul (recommended to me by another contractor). Paul answered my call and was quick to work on scheduling with me. I had had a flood in my house from a broken pipe (in the same week that my son had surgery, my cat had surgery, and my mom died) and I needed someone to finish demoing the shower, and get it prepped for the hot mop and tile guys. Paul wasn’t available until late in the following week. No problem. We scheduled him for a Thursday and Friday demo. In the mean time I made appointments with the hot mop people and the tile guy based on Paul’s availability to do the demo. I also ordered tile that would come in in time to meet this working timeline.
Wednesday afternoon I had not heard from Paul. I texted to confirm the appointment. No response. I called him in the evening to confirm the appointment. Our conversation went as follows:
«Hi Paul this is _​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​»
«Okay»
“You’re suppose to be at my house tomorrow and Friday to demo my shower. I had texted to confirm but hadn’t heard back so I thought I’d call to see what time you will be coming by.” (I have three kids whose schedules I need to work around)
«Oh. *long pause* I’m going to be on a job site tomorrow from 8 – 12 for inspection.»
«No problem. I don’t need to know an exact time. I just need to know that you are coming. We can work on timing tomorrow.»
«That’s the thing. I don’t know. I’m not home right now, but I’ll call you tomorrow to update you.»
«Okay, no problem.»
Thursday comes (the day he’s supposed to start). It’s 12:45pm and I still haven’t heard from Paul. I call him and leave a message to give me a call back so I know what’s going on. No call.
The hot mop people are calling to confirm our appointment for the following Monday. I have to cancel with them because my contractor is MIA. I have to cancel the tile guy because the hot mop won’t be ready in time for him. Now I’m at square one.
I call a zillion contractors and finally get one, who has been amazing, who can start right away. I STILL have not heard from Paul. No update from him. No apology. Nothing. Today should be his second day of work here.
From the sound of his voice in talking with him, I suspect he forgot about our appointment, probably scrambled to see what he could do to fit me in, couldn’t, and then decided to leave me hanging instead of face the call. Just speculation.
I realize contractors are busy. I realize inspections happen. I just expect to be communicated with, especially when the other scopes of work regarding my bathroom are contingent upon him following through with his job. It’s the professional thing to do and at the very least a common courtesy.

Well I have a lot to say about contractors as I’ve been a Realtor for 12 years and use them all the time. Paul is BY FAR my contractor of choice. On time, no bullsxxt, great prices. Paul is the best. He has done a kitchen for me at another home and is now doing a mud room and pool bathroom at my new one.
Paul is there when he says he will be. He is always in touch and letting me know what is going on in every step of the remodel. I also like that he listens and has helpful ideas. He came up with a wonderful way to reconfigure my bath I would have never thought of. He is knowledgeable about everything and what looks right. This is a bonus for a contractor. He does beautiful work and his prices are very good. Everyone who works with him is also top-​notch.
He is considerate, neat and just a great guy. We like having him around! How many people can say that about their contractor? If you hire Paul, he’ll get the job done and do it well! Love this guy.

He is a FABULOUS contractor. His name is Paul and he has done all my remodel for my home in Almaden. He also has done a lot of work for my patients and my X-​boss.
I am very very picky with everything and it is hard to impress me. Paul has done just that. I used to think I was a perfectionist till I met him. He is one contractor that is on time, calls to check in, works hard, has a smile whenever you see him, has great pricing, and overall an A+.
The work that I have had done are as follows:
— Entire kitchen including removal and addition of walls.
— All flooring, carpet ad wood.
— All baseboards and crown molding for my entire house.
— Entire bathroom remodel including tub removal and corner shower placement, all cabinets and granite tops, wall removal and wall placement.
— Addition of a second full bath
— Full attic remodel
— Full dining room remodel including taking ceiling up and placement of can lighting.
— Full family room remodel including removal of brick fireplace and placement of a gas one.
Anyways I could on but really he is the best of the best.
