Heart Six Guest Ranch

What an amazing experience —
Eric and Becky run a great operation– the team Woodrow, Sam and Rose and others are friendly, service oriented and personable! We had such a good a good time.

Loved this place. All the staff was very helpful and accommodating. Such an amazing 2 day snowmobile adventure… we got to try 2 different kinds of snowmobiles as well as riding them on a road and on trails and the scenery is outstanding. Cabins were very quaint and comfortable… loved it!

Such a beautiful setting! The view of the Tetons is breathtaking. We stayed in «Moose 1» which has a full size bed and a twin size bed. Everything was super clean and inviting. Nice shower head/​water pressure. I felt really comfortable here and love all of the rustic touches. Nice staff and good breakfast in the morning before we left. I’d love to stay again and take advantage of the horseback riding tours offered. Heart Six, you’ve won my heart.

The place is beautiful. The staff and the room were nice.
The continental breakfast was just ok.
The only thing that was not good was the price.
It was very overpriced!

Very comfortable stay at a scenic location.
We came to Grand Teton National Park (GTNP) from Yellowstone National Park (YNP) on 6÷3÷2015.
In GTNP we were staying at Heart Six Guest Ranch, located on Buffalo Valley Road in Moran. Got there by 4PM, checked-​in and found it to be another lovely place (after our stay at YNP).
The room we booked was a kitchenette. It was a bit pricey but overall we had a great experience. It was a very comfortable, quiet and clean room that had a queen size bed. Kitchen was well equipped with electric gas stove, coffee machine, toaster, fridge, utensils & paper towels. The room also had some good magazines on wedding photography as GTNP is a special place to get married at.
There was no WiFi in the room but you can go to the cafeteria or the lobby to get connected. Well we did go online (from the lobby) on the day before we checked out. I think it was to do an online check-​in for our flight. Other than that we didn’t feel an urge to go online. GTNP is so beautiful that you would want to be plugged into nature than to a device.
Food: There is no grocery store nearby. So you can either eat at the cafeteria or book a kitchenette and make your own meals. We did re-​stock once from Jackson Hole.
This place is closer to the Moran entrance. I guess 5 miles.
It was a ranch so there were many horses around and it was quite an experience to watch them roam around in the field. We did spot a few elks on the Buffalo Valley Road.
From the Buffalo Valley Road (right in front of our stay), we could see the Teton range with the Buffalo river in its foreground. Took some pictures from that spot. Here is one —

This place was recommended by our friends for horseback. We ended up doing that plus lunch, a Snake River float trip and dinner and all were excellent. Next time we want to stay at the ranch too. Great service.

I had a great stay at Heart 6! The cabins were clean, comfortable and stocked more than I would expect from a ranch way out in Wyoming. The staff was fantastic! They were incredibly helpful, friendly, and accommodating. There is a ‘shuttle’ from the ranch to the Jackson airport (and vice versa) for $ 50.
Heart 6 has a lot great space to use and a gorgeous view of the Grand Tetons and the river valley (the river is a frigid but restorative swim, I’ve heard.) I would definitely recommend Heart 6 for a gathering spot (family reunions, retreats, weddings, etc.) I attended a wedding here and had a grand ol’ time. The deck off the main house or the green in the center of the ranch is great for viewing the sunset with the mountains!

I was to host a dinner for 75 people at Heart 6. Not normally an issue, but I had never been to Heart 6 (or Wyoming) and did not have an opportunity to visit prior to the event.
I called Becky, Heart 6 manager, and we talked through the options. Becky, always with an eye to staying within my budget, made some great suggestions. We (well, really Becky) put together a great menu (ranch-​style BBQ) and service option (evening buffet, complete with bar and campfire).
Well, it all sounded great over the phone AND it was even better in reality. Everything was set on-​time, the food was AWESOME (!!!), and ALL the ranch staff were totally focused on helping us enjoy the evening.
With the dinner behind me, I could enjoy the rest of the weekend. The ranch facilities are quite nice, especially the main lodge. Our cabin was clean and comfortable. There were plenty of hiking, riding, and exploring options, as well as just hanging-​out on the front porch of the cabin watching all the activities.
We had an excellent experience and recommend Heart 6 for those who want a REAL dude ranch experience hosted by an outstanding staff!

Let’s talk about locations to host a wedding or visit for a vacation.
No, let’s not, that was a plural noun. We’re talking about a single location. This location.
Why this location, you ask? Silly you, I’ve got three reasons, now sit down.
1.) The staff could not possibly be more accommodating. They served a weary, caffeine-​deprived traveler a hot pot of coffee after he had finished a 14 hour leg of travel. And when he was too hungover to rationalize that he was about to miss his return flight — they coffee-​d him and kicked him in the right direction.
2.) The neighbors were [not] reasonably happy that the wedding featured a fantastic Portland-​based band called «Otis Heat.» Stand up gentlemen with stand up music. They played from ~9−11p and stopped because, on a Friday night in remote Wyoming, some of the neighbors didn’t appreciate the noise (no, really, we’re so far in the boonies that you can see Uranus (hehe)). The state police visited our wedding party and the hosts kindly worked with them. Both parties agreed that our party was reasonable and that we can shut down at our pace. Fantastic hosts, can you tell? They were down right motherly.
3.) The view will slap you right in the face. That’s it. It’s that good. Right in the face.
4.)* The accommodations were romantically rustic. What’s that mean? Stop interrupting me! The beds (or couch if you’re the best man and little brother) were extremely comfortable and the bathrooms were spotless. You felt far away enough from modern life to feel «rustic» but this isn’t a «hole in the ground» «oh my god is that a wolf» «wait that wolf has a knife» «why didn’t we stay in town?» sort of location.
This isn’t «Deliverance» level remote, think more along the lines of some «Castaway» but with the second ending that he’s actually on a peninsula with a major town about an hour away with plenty of beer and coffee.
*Yeah, there are four points, not three. If that upsets you then you should probably take a vacation here.
**There is cell service and wifi in the main reception area. Go ahead, be upset about it. Or leave your phone and cellphone in the car — you’re not important enough to have to check it when you have a view and service like you do at Heart Six.
***The bartenders rivaled (but of course no one could ever beat) the barkeeps from my favorite college bar. That doesn’t mean that they poured you some swill into a red solo cup and called it «Heineken,» why did you assume that I drink Heineken? I mean that they’re extremely conversational, can make a good drink, and contribute to the party with their own enthusiasm and bar keep advice.
That’s all. I don’t know who this «Samuel C.» character is but I hear that his wife actually divorced him because he couldn’t get «strait» straight. They’re upset that they didn’t get invited to the dance? Stop living in high school, Samuel C., the prom was 20 years ago and it’s okay that she didn’t say «yes».

It is nice family resort. Cosy atmosphere with western decoration. Those who love ranch style and horse riders will like it. Beds are amazingly comfortable, lodge has also nice food. Try lime pie !

My wife and I were recently in Jackson Hole Ski Resort and decided to break away from skiing one day. The hotel Terra recommended Heart Six Ranch for a snowmobiling tour in Yellowstone to Old Faithful. What a great guide we had in Ryan and the gent that picked us up was great too! Really great group of people and Ryan made the trip fun and was a great guide!

Snowmobiling Yellowstone National Park… Wow what a great experience. Heart Six Snowmobiles really made this trip memorable. My fiancé and I, she’s 5″ 107lbs and never snowmobiled, went on a 100 mile or so journey through this winter wonderland and couldn’t have made the day without Heart Six. First Dan picked us up promptly from where we were staying that am. He drove us up to Heart Six and we were served breakfast, which was good, at their lodge. The lodge was really great and rustic with an excellent game room and we saw a moose on the way in. Kile got us ready as well as the rest of the group and although we had some gear he made recommendations on staying warm and we added a few layers… Everything was clean but bring your own bib if you have one, I left mine at home and it would have been a nice to have. Kile was spot on with the layers though and neither of us were cold at any point of the day. Drove up to just outside the park got on this season artic cat touring sleds. They ran great starting first time, and all heating systems worked well.
We started out and Kile knowing that my fiancé had never been on a sled before showed her the ropes and had her follow him closely, watching her all day. Which I really appreciated. He was kind and courteous, we made a good pace averaging about 40 mph all day after we got going and comfortable. We made stops throughout the day to see different geo thermals, waterfalls and other great vistas. We also saw some Bison, Coyote, and a few other winter active wildlife that I got some great pictures of. Overall this was a recommendation from our wedding planner who is a 20yr local. There were more highly rated on-​line spots or bigger operations but she sent us to the folks that would take care of us and ensure we had a great time. Thanks to her and thanks to the folks at Heart Six. One of the best experiences I’ve had on vacation.

Second Class Citizens
My wife and I stayed Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Heart 6 Ranch.
As soon as we arrived we had the distinct feeling that the staff was being purposefully vague about amenities the Ranch offered. We could not get a strait answer about eating at the Ranch, however other guests were eating breakfast and dinner in the large dining room featured on their web-​site. However we were not allowed to join them, instead we were directed to a small café down the street where we food is served in a plastic basket.
On Friday night we overheard a dance the Ranch put on, however we were not told nor invited to this event for guests. On Sunday I finally discovered the common area in the main house for guests.
To top off our stay and our opinion, we walked into the reception/​check-​in and saw some other guests arriving. The staff was bubbling with information about eating there, amenities and the area. They were even given a welcome basket right in front of my wife and I — that’s a pretty terrible feeling.

We stayed here unexpectedly when our accommodations in Jackson Hole fell through at the last minute. We loved the Heart Six and I was supremely disappointed that we had to leave so soon. The rooms in the cabins are comfortable and rustic, but very clean. The view is spectacular. The staff is very friendly, relaxed, and down-​to-​earth. And their horses look very well cared for. They seemed to offer a lot of great, guided activities and trips. *sigh* I was bummed to leave. But we will be back there again, and this time for a few days so we can enjoy this wonderful place properly.

We just stopped in here for breakfast, which was delicious. There looked like a ton to do and that it would be a great vacation spot. beautiful view, horseback riding, canoeing, etc. I’d definitely come back, and at least recommend eating at their diner if you are in the area (i.e: staying at the Jackson Lodge)

One of the best vacations I have ever had… this is why:
1. Best food on a comprehensive menu week. The apple-​wood smoked bacon every morning jump starts your day. Usually you get a buffet breakfast that the chef cooked up that morning. If that is not enough, the kitchen staff will cater to your every request. Delicious buttermilk pancake? Sure, why not, cooked to order with blueberries or chocolate chips. Or waffles, omelets, etc. Each meal is masterminded by Jason, a Michigan chef with a flare for hearty American meals and a twist of class. On several occasions you will do a horseback ride to a cookout and you can see the chef in action right there, grilling salmon, strip steaks, shrimp, buffalo sausages, huge hamburgers. Each seemingly simple American staple (like brownies, cole slaw, potato salad) was cooked to perfection and to his style. Having good food definitely makes the week so much better. That’s my number one liking!
2. Great Staff. They recently changed management and I understand that some changes could throw off repeat business but I actually visited the ranch 10 years ago and returning this time I realize what the advantages and disadvantages are to having a young new crew of wranglers. They are full of energy, really good with kids, and you can see how well they get along with each other and create a truly humorous experience for just about any guest. On the other hand, they are not the most experienced wranglers in WY. But during the week I visited I saw very little incidences that speak of inexperience.
3. Flexibility. Some people can ride horses ²⁴⁄₇. I am not one of those people. My knees were sore and my butt felt like I had ridden a bike for 100 hours without stopping after day 2. No problem, they offered to send me along with Sam, the genius teenage ranch fishing guide, for some much needed relaxation and trout fishing. There is a day for float trips down the Snake River or even a full day at Yellowstone with Sam, yes… also the genius Yellowstone guide where we got delicious picnic packed by the chef (you can tell I like the food by now). The staff are willing to take you on however long of a ride you want, or split the party up depending on preferences. In other words, the schedule is not rigid. They even offer paintball option for those who desire it.
4. Location. While it is true that there are many dude ranches out there that can provide similar services for much less price… I doubt one can provide the scenic looks of the Tetons in the foreground and the beautiful mountain trails for horseback rides. You can’t wake up to the bugle calls of the local elk herds just anywhere. You are close to Jackson Hole, Yellowstone Park, and a bunch of other touristy stuff to do. But the deafening silence of nature cannot compare with any other place.
I enjoyed this trip to the max… especially since I am shipping out to war soon and I am reminded of the America I will miss for so long. I definitely believe it was worth the price to come out here with my wife and enjoy some much needed R&R
Words of advise:
1. bring insect repellent (lots)
2. Sun block (the altitude and constant sun will surprise you)
3. Jeans you dont mind getting dirty
4. Definitely invest in a hat (maybe even some boots if you want but not necessary)
