This small studio is starting to become like a second home to me because me and my two children dance here. I have always wanted to dance, but I didn’t as a child, which really made me feel like I somehow«missed the boat» on that one, since every studio seemed to cater only to children. But then I found this one, where I got to be a very, very beginner at jazz and now at ballet, without being made to feel stupid. I love that I am still treated like a serious dancer, even though I am such a beginner. That really means a lot. The classes are small, and I get a lot of attention. The classes are available on a drop-in basis, which for me as a working adult with a busy husband and two kids, is necessary. The drop-in prices are reasonable and the punch cards make it cheaper, especially since they let you share the cards as a family. When my son first wanted to dance years ago, I had tried taking him to a few different places and found them to be stuffy, cliquey, and overly competitive. I want my kids to learn to dance somewhere that its just about fun and learning, with very little pressure. That is exactly what this studio is great for. For any of you who have danced at Moorpark College throughout the years, Dennon teaches here at night. Right now they are doing a salsa series that he hopes to do again at another point in the year, and I just started the fundamentals of ballet, which is another series one, but most of the classes are ongoing and you can take them at any time(adult jazz, tap, etc). There are not a ton of options for the kids, as this is just a small studio, but again… its not really about training them up to be professionals, its about teaching kids, and thats what this is great for. My three-year-old is somewhat sensitive and very affectionate and she tries to hold her teacher’s hand through most of tap, and the teacher is so sweet, she always finds a way to let her for a step or two until she is really confident. The same teacher has been great about helping my seven-year-old catch up to the other kids that are ahead of him in tap class, spending extra time with him, and giving him the attention he needs to catch up. He has thrived in this atmosphere and is falling in love with tap overall. This is a great studio.
