Fountains At Moorpark

My family and I relocated from New Jersey and have settled here at The Fountains. Every one of the management employees have been very pleasant! Our leasing agent was Lisa and she is an amazing individual! She wasn’t pushy and she went above and beyond to assist us! We completed our paperwork Thursday and moved in on Saturday. Our apartment was newly renovated and absolutely beautiful and the amenities here are second to none. I have read other reviews complaining about deposits, parking, and kids. You are given a checklist to go over your apartment and asked to note any «damages» upon move in so that they know it wasn’t you. As far as parking, we had a little confusion with that at first but it was quickly resolved and caused no stress. And as far as kids go, they do live here and they love playing outside. Let the kids be kids!

We moved in this last October and it was a bit rocky at first but since than its be easy going! Of course you’ll get the occasional neighbor that forgets they live above but other then that, we love this place! Lisa, in the front office, has always been warm and welcoming to us! Maintenance is on top of everything! Construction right now is a little annoying but when is it not! Either way I’m happy my family was able to find a place that is accommodating to our needs! Thank you Fountains!

–I just moved in a month ago. I had read some of the reviews on here and was suspicious. But during the process, they actually mentioned almost everything negative I saw (I hadn’t mentioned it) and how they were working to fix it.
–The main pool is open now and heated. (Though others will be under construction).
–There is construction around but it is only during the day and is making things look nicer.
–I got a newly renovated place with really nice dark cabinets and what I think is marble counter tops. They have a bug spray guy go around and spray the outside of the apartments now and said to let them know if I encounter any bug problems at all.
–The maintenance requests I put in where dealt with same day! And the guy was super friendly.
–The leasing staff is really friendly and Lisa always remembers my name, which is pretty sweet.
–The gym has just enough stuff to use if I can’t make my main gym on base, so it is a free back up!
Overall I think they are working towards a better image, inside and out, so they have been going above and beyond for new renters and renovating a lot.

Unfortunately after living here less than a year, we had to move out since they gave us a non-​renewal notice as they plan to renovate our apartment. Our option was to move to another apartment for $ 300 more than what we are paying (they would help with moving costs), but for a place that is exactly the same size, just renovated, or move out. Paying $ 300 more for basically the same apartment is not worth it, the apartments are not worth more than $ 1600 a month because they are small and cramped, a renovation can’t fix that problem. We moved out and found a much nicer apartment that is bigger and in a better neighborhood but the same price as the renovated apartments.
The pros:
–maintenance guys are excellent, they address problems very quickly and efficiently, no problems there
–pretty quiet, at least where we were, we didn’t hear neighbors too often
–every apartment comes with a washer/​dryer, which is a plus
cons:
–no parking whatsoever for guests, we basically gave up inviting anyone over to our place
–hardly any amenities (despite what the website says) during the time we lived there since –everything was under construction, there is no kid’s playground, the gym just opened early April after being closed the entire time we were there, two of the pools were being worked on, no residents’ lounge, etc.
–during construction for a week they left a note saying we could not park in our place but did not give us another place to park
–there are a lot of smokers everywhere in the complex, so it’s not a nice place if you have kids, since people walk and smoke and smoke in their balconies/​patios so we had to live in a hermetically sealed apartment and never got to open our windows because we were surrounded by chain smokers
–lots of dogs but owners do not clean up after their dogs, there is dog excrement everywhere!
–the area is not that great, there’s not really anywhere nice to walk, you have to take a car everywhere, even Target which is not that far away
–random people from outside the Fountains use the pool that was open since the lock didn’t work,
–people often parked in our designated spaces since everyone knows they don’t actually enforce towing. We had to park far away
–the street parking is non-​existent unless you never use your car, some people leave their car in the same places for months and other people take up two places so they can «reserve» space for their family members. They really need to designate spaces with paint on the ground so more cars can park on the street.

I recently moved in and am very happy with the apartment, the cleanliness and the management. Lisa Trombley was an absolute pleasure to work with and she made the move effortless.

I’ve lived here for two year, and I have never had any problems. It is a pet friendly complex and everyone at the leasing office is and has been very helpful. For the area of Moorpark, this complex is the best and rental prices are not bad for any of the units.

I have had to move quite a bit over the years for work. In all of my moves, never has the move in process been more accommodating.
Lisa has worked with us patiently through the process, during the holidays I might add, even while dates and paperwork kept changing on our end. Then when we finally got everything sorted out on our end, she got us into a beautiful apartment in under 24 hours, signed, keys, and done.
It is possibly the smoothest move in I have ever had.

I am not sure where to begin but I will give a fair warning! RENTERS BEWARE! The management here will find any and every way they can to rip you off. They showed us a beautiful remodeled apartment that made us interested and we decided to move into a unit. When we arrived with our moving truck full of stuff, the unit they gave us was filthy and infested with spiders and bugs. They said everything was brand new but that was a complete lie. Half the outlets in the place had no electricity. The kitchen had no electricity at all… The floors were very dirty and the carpets were heavily stained also the ‘new’ appliances were not so new. They were scratched up the dryer barely worked and our washer was leaking water everywhere. The ac and heater would take hours to do anything and it would run our electricity bill way up for no reason. The walls were scratched and stained all to hell, no touch ups were done at all before we moved in! The counters were a nice grey granite I’ll give them that, but I highly regret leasing here for a year. On top of all the junk we had to deal with I worked nights and had to sleep in later than most and I would almost every day get rudely woken up by landscaping weed whackers at 7 am or the constant construction they had going on. Plus there is a very loud busy railroad track near by that would disturb everyone at night. The walls made from paper and the very thin windows didn’t help at all. Our garage was also broken into and all our camping equipment and storage was stolen. I could go on and on but the thing that really upset me was when the manager Jason came to inspect our place for move out after a year of paying nearly $ 2,000 month on time every month, Jason Rocha accused me of scratching the paint and walls that were already messed up when we moved in and charged me another $ 100. He also tricked us into extending our lease another 15 days because he would not tell us what it would cost to renew till the last day of our lease end and you must give a 30 day vacate notice, but we were not sure if we would stay or leave till he let us know the renewal deal. That’s how they thank us for paying me them $ 2k a month on time? These guys are shady as can be. Stay far away from the shady fountains at Moorpark. It’s old and worn down only covered up by some shiny counter tops.

From the Leasing staff to Maintenance, the team at The Fountains at Moorpark is second to none. Marco made our move seamless, Jose P and Moeses perform repairs on time and with the utmost courtesy. Residents are really nice. Although there is a lot under construction to improve the community including new pools, workout room and grounds, it’ll only get better and will be the premier community to call home.

We have lived here for many years, through 3 or 4 management companies and a couple of owners. Decron is the best so far with the front office and maintenence teams. But due to the current redevelopment activities there are some problems and we will be moving soon.
Curretly it is just plan ugly outside. The beautiful landscaping is down to dead grasses and many sad, diseased and dying trees. This place really can use help from an arborist! I’m surprised with years of California drought they haven’t opted for a sustainable landscape. The parking has alway been tight and now with the current facelift activities have made it even worse. So if a resident has company they have to park off site. The current website’s advertising is not accurate since 3 of the 4 pools are closed, the small lot called a «park» is an on-​leash area and is pitted with gopher holes. The gym is non-​existent and what is aggravating Jason, the manager is able to notify us how long it will be before we have a gym again. Also, they only employ one janitorial person who works a 5 day week. This is far from adequate for a property with 320 units that house over 1,200+ residents. In addition there is insufficient trash and recycling cans around the parameters of the property so there is always litter on sidewalks and in «landscaping».
What I am happy with is my unit. Because I live away from LA Ave., (the only truck route through Moorpark and is noisy and dirty). So if you want a quiet place ask the front office and they will help. Another plus is the front office and maintenence teams, but again the front office is under-​staffed and can use at least one more person, or at least a part time staffer so someone is available to answer the phone!

The complex is nice and the apartments are awesome, it is so quite inside and noise outside is minimal. The construction and management not so much on the best or organized side. My wife and I have sent several emails to them to no avail about a parking pass. They misspelled my first name 5 times before I moved in. (YOU HAVE A COPY OF MY I.D.WHY IS IT SO HARD TO SPELL). We have a cat and they know it, they have his picture, blood type, vet records and yet still fighting to have them change the fee they are charging because its for a dog. We have even got notices to keep the dog inside.WTF. We don’t have a dog.

Recently I downgraded from a 3000 sq. ft home that I have lived in for 30 years. I contacted the Fountains in Moorpark and my representative was Daniel Morales. He was the most helpful person that I came across in my apartment hunting. He made the transition seamless. When I moved in the apartment was completely re-​done. Everything was brand new. It was like moving into brand new home. In fact, the appliances were better than the house I came from. After about 2 months I had a very minor problem and called the office. I spoke with Tiffany Swanson and she had the minor problem taken care in less than 2 hours. I’m very happy here.

I’ve been living here for a year and just renewed my lease for obvious reasons. Super rad complex! I lived here years ago with a friend and it wasn’t that great, so it seems like the new management company has really taken this place to a new level. Everything’s always clean and taken care of. Everyone in the office is really nice. My kid has a blast here (pool options, park, etc) and noise level is nearly non-​existent.
I plan to live here for as long as possible

I think the new management has been absolutely great. Jason is awesome, the people at the office are awesome, the maintenance people are awesome, and everyone is quick to help. I have lived here for the last two years, and before this I’ve lived in about 3 other apartment complexes. This is basically as good as it gets for an apartment complex.
Some other reviewer wrote about bug problems… No. If you have spiders in your apartment or whatever (which, yeah, welcome to real life where spiders exist) then you can call the office, and (for free) they have a bug guy which will spray your apartment. He comes every Tuesday. I’ve never seen a roach and I’ve now lived in two buildings here at the Fountains, so I really feel like that other reviewer was exaggerating.
Yeah, some of the buildings are by a street. So you hear cars. Shocking. We also do have a railroad track, which can faintly be heard *all over Moorpark*. I grew up on the other side of Moorpark and I could still hear it. If you want to be away from the streets because mild car-​sounds bother you, it is a huge complex. But the train is not blaring, I think reviewer Robert F. will have a problem living in basically any civilized environment if he thinks this kind of noise is worthy of a 1 star Unilocal review lol.
Nothing has ever been stolen, broken into, etc. I’ve never felt unsafe here.
All in all, I will miss this place and would definitely recommend The Fountains. The new renovations are great, and they are continuing to upgrade everything which is awesome. If you’re looking for a really nice apartment in this area, this is a great place.

I absolutely LOVED living here and still wish I did. The property was kept clean and beautiful. I’ve always felt safe, not to mention that security walks around at night and the police station is a few streets away.
The maintenance guys are fabulous! They were my favorite. They responded to repair requests immediately and worked quickly– Jose was especially great. I’ve been grateful for his help on several occasions.
Tiffany in the leasing office was also wonderful. She was always very kind and helpful and listened to my concerns. She also quickly resolved any issues I had. I really enjoyed working with her.

Wish there was a 0 star option. My husband and I moved out of this ridiculous cramp hole of a complex a little over a year ago so yes Decron was already there. They sucked more than the last company!!!
The apartments were nice, but had issues that would take forever to get fixed!!! Old company had people out to fix anything f almost right away. !!
We had a nice issue, and lived on a top floor! Explain to me that??? What did they do? Set traps… Nothing else… No pest control no nothing.
We move out and had paid for our last month rent and Decron tries to charge us another whole month after we are gone!!! Trying to solve that issue was a nightmare, the manager was never in to solve it nor would answer the phone or return any calls.
After finally getting it solved I was so happy to be out of there!
Come to find out almost a year later, our downstairs neighbors apartment had BLACK MOLD IN THE WALLS!!!
All they wanted to do was put bleach on it and call it cleaned when no, mold you have to do a lot more than that. They had a young kid loving there and that’s all Decron wanted to do to help…
They weren’t gonna let them out of their lease either, until they threatened to sue! Other neighbors had a massive flood and it took way to long for them to send anyone to help, while some of their items are now ruined!
What a freaking nightmare! Don’t move here! Don’t let these «new» apartments suck you in!
We are paying less for a 3 bedroom 2 bath house with huge backyard than we were in your apartments!!! So please keep raising that rent, people will wake and see it’s not worth it when they can buy a house with yard and their own rules for amazingly cheaper!!!

I decided to update my previous review being that it might be one of the more negative reviews I’ve given on Unilocal.I have to say that since Decron took over from the previous management there have been significant upgrades in the property, the customer service and the quality of living in this complex.
I’ve since moved out of the Fountains but I have to mention how accommodating the staff was during my transition out of my apartment. Over the past 5 years, this last year with Decron Property Management has been by far the best. Over several months toward the end of my lease agreement the staff did all they could to resolve any matters that may have led to my departure. They allowed for me to pretty much wait until the very last moment to confirm I was in fact leaving, and they returned nearly 100% of my deposit — only charging me for the outstanding utilities.
All in all, I left The Fountains with a positive memory and appreciation for the fact that new management took over, recognized changes needed to be made and have so far effectively made those changes happen. Good job Decron, I wish you the best in the renovations and to the tenants that will create new memories in my old apartment.

All my experience was the worst.
Once they get you in you gonna be treated like nobody. Lived there 7 months but never had my ac fixed the whole time. On top of that my deposit was not returned even though I return the house clean and neat.
Management is the worst and as they change almost every week ur maintenance request is always forgotten. The ONLY thing they do right is they collect rent on time
