The Pit Indoor Kart Racing

For being based in a warehouse, prices are outrageous, and the racing is average at best. The track is long, but that is about it. It is $ 18 for 8mins of riding on the single track. There are some small activities, such as a small arcade, billiards tables, bumper cars, mini golf, and laser tag, but all of these are very expensive and not anywhere worth your time or money. I would highly recommend taking the slightly extra drive for a genuine racing experience at the GoPro sponsored kart racing experience. If you want to come here, bring small children and a large pocket.

My friends and I had a blast at The Pit. The indoor black light mini-​golf 18-​hole course is something none of us had ever experienced before, but we were instant fans! The indoor course creates the opportunity for fun no matter the weather outside. While the markers along the course could use a touch of paint to update them, there are no worries about seeing the course during play. Some areas of the course carpet could use replacing, but there were no concerns with tripping.
There are no holders for the score card or pencil as you play on the course, so you’ll be trading that responsibility among members of your party.
The theme of the course is unique and elaborate. I highly recommend the indoor miniature golf course at The Pit.
While we didn’t participate in the rock climbing, kart racing, spin zone, or arcade games, there were plenty of people actively involved in these activities, and everyone was having a good time. All areas were clean, and the staff was helpful and friendly.
Tip: Keep an eye on their website for deals and coupons!
Tip: We went on a Thursday night and there was low traffic and limited attendance by others (translation: this was perfect for our game play and we enjoyed the quiet).

We took our son here for his birthday and he had a great time. They have a couple activities but we only tried the arcade, pool, and go kart. They also have mini golf, laser tag, bumper cars and rock climbing. He had fun and that’s what matters. We would take him here again.

Let me start off by saying I am not a go kart expert. I am just a dad who took out his son and friend for a few laps of fun.
The karts and track both seem to be in great shape. There was plenty of speed for both the adults and kids. Where they fell short was service. We got to the track right after they opened and paid for several races. They got us on the track fast for our first two races but then took almost an hour and a half to get my son and his friend on for the last race.
The boy working the track computer was so rude that the manager had to ask him to step away. The manager was nice but did not offer any apologies or explanation for the employees behavior. Very disappointing experience.

My 2 sons (7 & 3 ½), my husband, and myself had a great time. The bumper karts were amazing! For $ 5 each and $ 2.50 for my 3 year old, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Then we played games for an hour at least. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We also did the air canon ball and we had a blast. Overall it wasn’t outrageously priced and was lots of fun. Very clean as well!

Oh the smell!!! What’s up with the smell??? I can’t figure out if it’s a smell leftover from the industrial usage days, if it is a byproduct of the karts or if it is a really bad, really strong air freshener trying to cover up the former two. Whatever it is, I can’t put my finger on it, but I had a killer headache after being there just 45 minutes and we were only in the mini golf area. If you are sensitive to strong odors, The Pit is NOT for you.

As someone who is a frequent go-​kart racer, I do not like The Pit. I haven’t been back for quite some time because there are better alternatives in this area.
The starts are spread which makes for zero racing. I get that this style of kart racing is a time based style of «racing,’ but honestly the majority of people paying this kind of money want to be able to race «door-​to-​door» with other karts. I do not like the track layout or the fact the surface is rough.
I don’t care for the karts even though they are fairly new, especially since they are controlled electrically by the employees. I understand it is a safety thing for people don’t know how to pay attention, but still not a fan.
I liken this facility to your standard children’s entertainment facility, not one for serious karters.
Plus, a lot of the employees rarely are pleasant to deal with.

This place is a lot of fun. I have been here twice and would definitely go back for more fun. The racing is good and if you can get in with a good group you get a decent amount of laps in. The first time I went we also did laser tag and something kept messing up while we were there so the first time we tried to play we got about 4 minutes in before they stopped us. They fixed the issue and sent us back in and we got about 6 more minutes before the issue came back. They ended up canceling the laser tag for the night but gave everyone vouchers to come back and play for free which was nice of them. We did the cannonball blaster which is tons of fun if you are in there with your friends or siblings. The racing is a tad expensive but is pretty much average price for go kart racing. Highly recommended if you are looking for something fun to do with friends or family for a night.

Had our Company Christmas Dinner today and someone came up with the bright idea of indoor Go Kart Racing or Lazer Tag. This place is a converted Burlington Textile Plant on the major East/​West Highway through Mooresville. Like many old textile plants, plenty of space and high roofs so this makes a good use of the inside configuration.
In addition to an indoor track and lazer tag, they also offer a video game arcade and a climbing wall as well.
They track is not fancy consisting of a course outlined with old tires from NASCAR in a frame to define the course and provide safety. Bottom line is that it works. The karts are gasoline powered and there are a number of individuals on the course at all times so safety is a concern. Drivers are properly protected with helmets and neck restraints which helps as well.
The one outstanding thing I did notice was in the observation room over the track. they have a computerized scoring system that displays the drivers ID’s, leader board, lap number, best lap time and intervals between racers. While the track may be utilitarian, the scoring is definately top notch.
The kids seemed to enjoy it as did the adults. Overall, not my cup of tea because kart racing is not my favorite but still, it’s a potential place to take the Grandchildren on a rainy day when they come down for a visit.

I worked for a go kart track the lack of saftey is very scary. Not sure if these guys no what the flags mean at all. The way the stager the karts is way to far apart. The helmet smelled like it was never cleaned or at the least wiped out. The visors had never been whipped off. Doubt if I would ever go back their.

I checked the reviews and they are pretty much dead on, service is a little better especially at the front counter but the «sign in» process is still long. Bald guy downstairs running the glow in the dark golf was really nice. The worst service was the young girl running the laser tag. Too young and very rude.
The golf was such a small area and a waste of time. All that space they could have made it bigger and better. Laser tag was ok but her instructions were unclear as to how everything worked.
My daughter (11) had a decent time but she said she would rather go to Dave and Busters or adventure land even though it’s a drive she said it’s worth it.

The Pit is a great example of an awesome idea that is not being executed to its fullest potential. Having go-​karts, black-​light mini golf, laser tag, rock climbing and an arcade under one roof is pretty amazing. There is something here for everyone which makes it a great place for multi-​generational family outings. The problems are with the staff and the crazy sign-​in process. If you are a first time visitor, when you arrive and want to do any of the activities (with the exception of arcade games) you have to wait in line to sign-​in on one of two computers. By signing in, I mean fill in name, address, etc for each individual that wants to participate. In may case, that meant waiting for a party of eight to sign in eight times and then typing the same info four times in order to sign-​in the four people in my group in. I’m sure this process is part insurance driven/​waiver driven and part collect as much info for the marketing database, but there has to be a more efficient way to do it. When you arrive with two excited kids who then have to wait in line for 15 minutes, it is a bit of a drag. The main problem with our experience was the staff. They were not friendly and seemed annoyed with our tough questions like «where is the mini golf at?» and «what is your web site?» The really bad part was when the staffer manning the laser tag station got snippy with my seven year old for asking if the laser tag vests could be adjusted to fit better. Note to management, you might want to hire some staff that aren’t annoyed by kids or their parents looking to have fun and spend some cash in the process. Overall it is an OK experience and I am sure we will visit again someday, especially since we will be able to skip the sign-​in kiosks. Hopefully we will get there early enough in the day to have someone answer our questions with a smile and not scoff at my kids!

This place is AWESOME! My family (which includes 2 kids) loves going here to play mini golf, laser tag, and go cart racing. They also have arcade games, a climbing wall, a cannonball air blaster, and batting cages, but mini golf, laser tag, and the go carts are my family’s favorites. As a matter of fact, I am planning to have my son’s next birthday party here. So much to do for such a reasonable price. And the staff is really friendly. If you are looking for something different to do on a cold or rainy day, check this place out. I promise you’ll find something you’ll enjoy!

This place is sad the Go-​karts are over priced. And the employees stagger the start to much between drivers so there is no racing… The staff is unfriendly and unprofessional, The games are out dated out of order and EVERYTHING is sticky! It’s just sad this place could be so much better. Mooresville needs a good place to entertain the family. The pit could be that place with quality ownership. Who ever owns this simply does not care.

We first learned about this place by going to a birthday party. My son LOVED it! It’s clean and safe…(No scary people hanging around) They also have laser tag which my son thought was fun! I suggest this place for good clean, safe fun. They also have a viewing area for parents to watch if you don’t want to race yourself. Lot’s of Pool tables, video games and food. It’s a great place. I only suggest a few attractions in this area… this is one for sure… then bowling in moorseville, LKN Mini Golf in Cornelius and Discovery Place in Huntersville. But that’s it for kids attractions in the lake area. The PIT is really a must see in this Lake Norman ARea… especially for you RACE FANS! :)
