Pomodoro’s Italian American Cafe

Just OK. We love the food, but on Valentine’s Day we waited 30 mins just to get seated by kitchen in the back by the bar. Was disappointing, kept getting bumped by passing waiters, was really noisy and no place to go for Valentine’s Day. Giving 3 stars for great food, but poor seating judgment. I wish we had said we would wait for a better table, I wish the waitress that seated us asked if this was okay, knowing it’s a problem seating area for dinner. I think this is a fair review. Next time we will specify where we would like to be seated.

This is the best Italian food around. Owners and staff are wonderful. I had to reschedule a party from one Saturday because of snow and they were very nice and helpful. They are great people and best customer service. They go above and beyond to make your dining experience perfect.

Have visited here a number of times and like it. The food is pretty consistent, the wait staff is attentive, and pricing is reasonable. Be warned, if you like a dessert you better really enjoy it because it may not be available on your next visit. :)
Overall, we’re fans and will continue to visit.

We happened to go here for dinner this past weekend. The place is pretty decent, and the food is okay.
We got the fried zucchini sticks as an appetizer. My husband got a calzone and I got a lasagna. Our friends got the pasta with pesto (or something that looked like it).
Service was great. Our server was very good with answering questions and keeping our drinks filled. The place wasn’t too busy, but it was earlier in the evening when the crowd had just started to trickle in. I’m sure the place is packed at peak hours.
Parking is convenient.

Well it was good, not great. I have the Veal Parmigiana and it was a bit salty. I would go back again and try something else there. Plus there really isn’t any other Italian restaurants around here.

I read all the reviews and I tried this place anyway. The service was prompt. I was asked what drink I wanted within less than a minute after being seated. I placed my order again delivered promptly. The house salad was very good with a slice of a very fresh tomato. The house bread stick was warm and very nice. The bread had a good crunch and flavor. I eat out on the road a lot I found this place above average and better than the chain places.

Gave it another chance another busy time Saturday evening. I sat at the bar and received excellent service from the primarily unoccupied bartender. I ordered angel hair w marinara sauce w 4 meatballs and melted cheese on top. Pasta was al dente but also was extra crispy in a spot that sticks to the pot when unstirred. The meatballs were well seasoned overdone for my liking but not overcooked and moist. Oregano was dominant opposed to being balanced only affecting eating it alone added to the marinara actually picks up where it leaves off. Cheese was thick I would rate average. Bread was fresh and has been steped up butter was fantastic. Sweet tea was great. I found the dish experience a 6.5. With my knowledge of food restaurants and customer service the only thing lacking was consistency by kitchen staff. The restaurant is a hot spot w the older crowd and is some of the best Italian in mooresville. With proper oversight some tweaks here and there it really could rival the northeast for Italian. The salad was fresh and full of cheese. Only 3 stars because I know it has the potential to be more and eventually it will be.

Today was an off day but generally a great place.
Over the years, we’ve probably eaten here at least a dozen times. Sometimes in the evening but generally for brunch after Church on Sunday or lunch while running around on Saturdays.
My wife has been here more because this is one of the places that her friends at the Y like to go for lunch.
Went today with my wife and one of our neighbors.
It was a very plesant dining experience and our server was great. Our neighbor is a Patriots fan as was our server. Wife is Pgh and I am neutral. Server gave a bit of history about the restaurant, it’s owners and the ties to Buffalo etc and the history of some of the pictures. Being a history nut, this was very interesting and from a business standpoint, one of the first princliple is to get the customer involved which they did.
Our friend after much agonizing, decided on the meatball sub. Our server recommended it and it was great.
My wife ordered the daily special which was a Chicken Parm Roll which she loved.
I had the Traditiional Stomboli and with that, am neutral. There was little contrast or anything that jumped out with it, even after a liberal addition of marinara. It was not bad but did not have a bold characteristic taste.
This was a bit of a surprise because my previous experince a this restaurant has been one where I have found everything to have a bold inviting taste.
Not the case this time. That said, I have been here enough to know that from past experience, let;s see what we get next time.

Previously I had a horrible experience and wrote a review stating all the issues. Ever since then, I’ve been back twice and I do truly love this place and haven’t had a bad experience since. The food is fantastic, the service has been WAY better since the time I went previously as well.

This place was terrible! The service, the food, and the atmosphere. It didn’t seem like any of the wait staff wanted to be there, our waitress was rude and didn’t care to give us attention. Someone else brought us our food because she was on a 15 minute smoke break. The food was really bad, the sauce was gross and everything had a terrible taste. We will not return

The food was horrible… I ordered the steak and it was nothing but fat. I couldn’t even cut into it, it was so gross. I had to send it back. My daughters pasta was burnt from sitting under the heat lamps for so long and my sons pizza was burnt. The service was horrible and did nothing to make my disgusting meal better. Would NEVER go back there. I still have nightmares over that slab of fat they call steak!!!

Amazing lunch!!! We are passing through on the way to California. The Antipasta salad was the best I’ve ever tasted! How can a salad be so awesome? It’s got so many flavors!!! Marinated just so well!!! The kids eat free on Tuesday… Our granddaughters pizza was HUGE! I got the Hawaiian sandwich freakin’ amazing… Great prices!!! Great food!!! I have no idea who had bad luck here… But our trip was perfect!!!

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. They will not make it right when they make a mistake. They have on their website that lunch specials are until 4. I go in before 4 and they said lunch specials actually end at 3. Sorry if the website is wrong, we don’t care about customer service to make this right until we get our mistake corrected. I then go on their Facebook page to tell them of my disappointment and my post conveniently doesn’t show up. I guess they have have a lot to hide if they only show good comments. Please don’t support a business that doesn’t want to do right by the customer!!!

The food is ok, we used to come here periodically as a family bc it was in a convenient location for us, but we will never be back. I came in one night with my children while my husband was out of town & the managers/​owners were so rude to us. We were so hurt! My kids were being SO good (& they aren’t always, let’s be honest!) & had been so excited for a dinner out, that they were especially upset & confused by it, as was I. The waitress was just fine however, so I didn’t not cut back on her tip. We won’t go back & you shouldn’t go either.

Sometimes you can only blame yourself… so this is mostly a post of all the things I did wrong.
I had a really snotty reception to my request to provide catering of ‘such a small amount’ (almost 300.00). Should have hung up and gone elsewhere.
On the call I indicated I had sent a message through Facebook and, seeing as there had been half a dozen or more posts since having messaged them, they surely saw they had a message waiting. When I was told, fairly rudely, that they can’t be bothered with taking orders or responding on Facebook, I should have hung up and gone elsewhere.
I was questioned on every single item I ordered, even though I was ordering exactly the same things as I had 31 Jan, just adding more meatballs because last time they were good. Should have hung up and gone elsewhere. This time the meatballs were a mixed bag – some were fabulous, others tasted as though they’d not actually been fully mixed or, as two of the ladies offered, clearly came from different batches.
I was told I’d have to buy the sterno and wire baskets to elevate the food if it wasn’t going to be eaten soon after delivery and I did not confirm they would not show up 40 minutes early. Yep you guessed it… I didn’t ask if they’d be ridiculously early and they sure were even though it was written on the receipt that it was to be delivered at 5:15 for a 5:30 meal. The delivery person told me the instructions were to leave the store by 4:30, which meant the food was intended to be AT LEAST an hour past cooking before we ever ate it. I can literally, with my own two feet, run from the hotel where my event was being held, to Pomodoro’s in less than 45 minutes. So why it was going to take that long to drive it, I’ll never know! Of course if I sent it back, there was no time to make new and send again. So we had to eat early and with the event going another 5 hours after the scheduled dinner start, that’s just not a positive thing.
And to top it all off, the garlic knots were AWFUL! People were eating theirs and throwing them out with a bite or two gone. Greasy, soaking in oil (not butter) and tough as could be. An absolute change from last time. Did not even go through one pan of them this time. One pan had all manner of chopped up garlic – the other we found none. HORRIBLE!
The chicken marsala had a lovely sauce that was quite plentiful last time – there were pieces of penne that did not even have sauce on them this time. It was finished off 100% last time and about ²⁄₃ taken this time.
Primarily the same group of women at the same type of event this month as last and had MANY complaints of the quality, outlandish delivery time from them, added to the overall «you are but a peon, I can’t waste my precious time talking to you worthless catering order person» attitude has led me to say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! I made the mistake of not hanging up and going elsewhere in February, but I SURELY won’t make that mistake in any future month!
Go to Il Bambini, right down the street. Heck… go to Olive Garden over this place. I do host events 21 days annually with multiple meals at each… and never, EVER again will one of those meals be from Pomodoro’s! NEVER AGAIN!

The worst! Went to an event this past weekend where Pomodoro’s catered. After the reviews, I looked forward to great food! Unfortunately, Pomodoro’s failed; BIG TIME! The chicken masala sauce never showed any signs of proper reduction. Nutmeg was way to intense, and chicken was undercooked; inedible! Tortellini pesto, overpowered by Alfredo, which I suspected saved on cost. Meatball size; inconsistent. Delivery; and hour early. I highly discourage this establishment if catering is an indication on how they view customer satisfaction!
I only rated one star because I had to. Zero is more like it!

My wife and I were out for some Christmas shopping the other night and we were driving by Pomodoro’s while leaving Gander Mountain and decided to give it a try. As someone from New Jersey who loves little family owned Italian places I was excited to find a place that showed a lot of promise and they didn’t let me down. We started off with the Salt and Pepper Calamari and it was great. The breading was crispy and flavorful and the calamari was tender and not rubbery in the least. The salads were fresh and crisp and tasted great with the loaf of warm bread that accompanied them.
My wife had the Chicken Piccata over angel hair and I had the Shrimp and Scallop in vodka sauce over angel hair. Both were out of this world. The Piccata had that great lemony butter taste and the chicken was cooked perfectly. My scallops and Shrimp were also cooked perfectly, not over cooked at all and the vodka sauce was killer! We were both very happy with the meal and the service was perfect. We will definitely be coming back on the regular. Give it a try.

Great lunch. My husband and I shared a spinach salad and Stromboli. I had an Italian soda… No refills.
Overall the meal was delicious.

My wife & I ate here for the first time today. I’m a big fan of Red Oak lager, and from the Red Oak site I found this to be one of the few locations that had it on-​tap. My intentions were to get a beer & cheesesteak while my wife satisfied her pizza addiction. What I found was so much more than what I had anticipated.
The aroma in the air led me to vary from my plan, and I opted for the garlic cheese bread as an appetizer, followed by a sausage roll. All I can say is wow, it was amazingly good. My wife was equally thrilled with her pizza. My draft Red Oak was the perfect icing on the cake.
Speaking of cake, they had a wide selection of desserts. Unfortunately we were both so full that we ended up needing boxes… No room for dessert this trip. I’ll be sure to save a little room next time!
In summary: the atmosphere is inviting, the place is clean, the food is outstanding, the portions were plentiful, the prices were reasonable & the service was impeccable.
This was our first trip, but certainly won’t be our last.
