History

Established in 2011.

Point Blank Range Mooresville opened in July of 2011. We are the first, and only, indoor shooting facility open to the public in Mooresville and Iredell County. In October 2012 we were excited to receive the NSSF 5 Star Range designation, the highest rating achievable. At the time there were only 26 — 5 Star Ranges out of more than 10,000 ranges across the country. In September 2013 Point Blank Range Mooresville was nominated along with three other ranges for the NSSF Shot Business Magazine’s 2013 Range of the Year award.

I have spent most of my professional life as a manufacturing-​operations management professional with a number of medium to large manufacturing firms. I graduated from Penn State University with a BS in Accounting in 1983 and married my wife, Maureen, in 1986 and we moved to Maryland. We have three children and have lived in North Carolina since 1994, in Mooresville since 1999. My partner, Jim Litsey, and I opened Point Blank Range Mooresville in July of 2011 where I am currently the General Manager. As a small business owner I have really begun to feel connected to not only the business community but also the larger social community of Mooresville were we have raised our family and are proud to call it home.

I’ve been going to this range for over the past 3 months and I have to say that this place is top-​notch. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. They also have enough lanes to accommodate large crowds. I recently attended the range (day after Christmas) and the parking lot was full. There were tons of people asking questions about pistols, rifles, purchases and returns. They quickly handled my return and I went to the range to get on the waiting list. I was on in 20 minutes. They have great rates, and a number of rentals so you can determine which is best before you purchase. I shot a sig p226, M9, XDs and CZ75. Loads of fun! I also purchased my Glock 21 from here one day on my lunch break. Easy transaction and really good customer service. Thanks James and Corey and the rest of the crew, it’s always a good SAFE time!

Where do i start… first never go here. I asked the range master before shooting if my ammo was approved and he said yes. About 5 mintues after going thru have a clip im told by a sales associate that my ammo isnt approved. So im doubtfounded after 10 mintues of waiting. I get told that half my ammo isn’t approved. That piss me off and i ask can i get my money back and ill leave. They have a hissy fit over 18 dollars while waiting on the manger. And second i reload my own ammo. The sign says if the casing hits the floor it belongs to point blank. No biggie but on my pistol i have a catcher on it to catch my brass. And i was told that i wasnt allowed to have it. After 45 mintues of a dick measuring contest. I get my 18 dollars back. Worest place ever overprice unfriendly unknowledgeable people. If you do go ask question get it reverified by other employees please save your self the hard ace.

As a resident of Massachusetts, this type of fun is hard to come by! The staff is extremely helpful and taught us everything we needed to know. If you’re stressed out, stop by and get some relief! I might be getting old, but this was almost better than sex.

Haven’t actually been to this range — however, called to find out lane fees and was told it would be $ 18, which isnt bad. But when I said there would be 4 of us sharing 2 lanes she said it would $ 36 per lane. So no multiple shooter discount like most places I’ve been to. Outrageous! I won’t be visiting this range… Might be a great place and my review is based solely on the high lane fees.

I love Point Blank Range! My girlfriend and I drive close to 45 minutes from Concord to shoot at this range. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and patient! We have been to other ranges and have felt like they are pushy, and that we should already know what we want. My girlfriend had only shot my keltec and she was wanting to shoot something more suited for her size and grip. Jesse was extremely knowledgeable and patient with us. Every weapon she picked up before hand she didn’t like. Jesse made a few suggestions and voila! She found the firearm for her and started shooting. When we come into this range and Jesse is not available, other staff members are just as friendly and knowledgeable.
The main reason I enjoy Point Blank is for their prices. The range fee is for an all day pass, not like some others in Concord who seem greedy by charging by the hour or half hour. The 9 MM ammunition is reasonably priced, and they offer caliber rentals. Meaning that instead of renting one firearm like some ranges in Concord are, at Point Blank you’re able to rent the entire caliber for an extremely reasonable price! I would recommend this range to anyone wanting to go to shoot and ENJOY it and not worry about how many half hours you’ve been in the stall!

Fantastic Collection of Guns and Ammo. Mike and Drew were very helpful. As soon as you enter the store the staff will greet you with smile. Very friendly and kind staff. They will help and will make you feel comfortable and will explain the whole process and will also guide thoroughly if you are new to shooting. Loved it.

I’ve visited this place 2 times, once to take my son for his 16th birthday, and the 2nd time I was looking for a Glock Range bag. When I first walked in, I was ignored, and was not greeted at all. As a female who shoots, maybe they thought I didn’t know anything about firearms, but they at least could have said «hello» and asked if there was anything they could help me with. I knew exactly what I was looking for, but they have a predominately male staff, and just didn’t get a comfortable feeling being there.

I would not recommend Point Blank Range to anybody. I have been going there since it opened and feel the customer service has gone down hill. i have paid more for the guns that i have bought there based on the knowledge they have provided me with. The man who ran the range Wednesday night should be fired. His customer service skills are a zero. Not to get into what happened but in a time when shooting is a luxury, customer service is the only thing that separates one range from another. I guess everything happens for a reason. The people at The Range at Lake Norman are first class. Too Bad but if i feel this way, I am sure other people do too! An empty parking lot equals no money. One last thing, I emailed them to tell Point Blank Range of what happened. Guess what they don’t care!

I can’t speak for the quality of the range here, but as for quality of service and goods in-​store I think Point Blank checks out a-​okay. I took a three day hunter education course as a prereq to getting my hunting license and the class was taught by a man and woman who both worked here at the store. They were great, all around knowledgeable teachers and staff. They knew all there was to know about hunting, gun safety and even gun basics. You can tell by the way they presented this they’re well versed in working with all sorts of clientele in the shop and class whether it’s a first time shooter or a veteran marksman.
On first sight, trying to talk to people and seem like you’re worth their time in here can be a bit tough. It helps to go in with a basic understanding of the minimum amount of shooting vocabulary otherwise you’re likely to leave peeved by their borderline pretentiousness. However, I tend to personally dash that aside because the fact is I’m not a guy who looks like the typical type you see around these joints.
All in all, prices are a bit steep on some accessory items here but if you dig around you can find a thing or two that is surprisingly cheap. The guns are reasonably priced and I’d say on the cheaper end of the price spectrum for shops. They’ve got great Federal bulk pack ammunition boxes and tons of tactical gear for those of you out there looking for some sort of battle in your backyard. The range features lots of gun options to try out and staff over there is highly professional. I will need to go back sometime soon to get the full experience here and do some shooting.

First and LAST visit today. First, most of their staff know NOTHING about guns. They dint know the difference between a Glock, XD or anything else. Second, they are obviously catering to the Lake Norman crowd because their prices are ridiculous. Guns are priced hundreds more than other places, ammo is similarly overpriced. Their memberships are also way overpriced, almost twice that of others. The straw that broke the camels back for me was after waiting nearly 30 minutes for their inept staff to check me in, I spent at least twenty to thirty minutes while the targeting system broke and got fixed while I shot. Then a staff member has the gall to come in and ask me to leave because they had others waiting. When I tried to explain that half my time had been spent waiting on repairs, I was told to «calm down». Funny, I thought the $ 18 they charged was a daily rate as it was advertised. Calls and emails to them have gone unanswered. DONT GO HERE. eagle gun is just as nice, friendly couteous staff and much cheaper.
