Lazy 5 Ranch

Our family really enjoyed this place… we have twins girls that lover the wagon ride… and boys who really enjoyed everything! Lots of family fun and great price !!!

I visited this place with friends on New Year’s Day. While it was a bit cold in the winter but this is a truly fabulous place to see, touch, and feed all kinds of cute animals! They have lots of llamas and donkeys outside where you can feed them and pet them. We saw some camels, sheep, and horses too. You can drive through the main area and feed the animals along the way. While some zebras or ox might accidentally snatch your feed bucket away if you don’t hold it tight, all the animals we encountered were very friendly and seemed to know what to expect from people. We drove through the ranch twice and each time we carried 3 buckets of feed. There were not a lot of cars during our visit and a single one way trip took us around 40min. Could be longer if u stop frequently to feed. I will definitely come back some time in the future!

Wasn’t sure what to do with European visitors. We ended up self-​driving through the park for the longest time, taking photos, and just having a wonderful time.

My in laws are visiting from Virginia and this was the best place to take them to enjoy for themselves and enjoy with their grandchildren.
We came in two cars but got in one truck. 2 adults and one child in the truck and 4 of us in the bed of the truck, which was best. We took about 3 hours to do the drive through and the petting zoo area after as well.

Allow several hours for your visit. I think we went through rather quickly & we were here for 3 hours!
We obeyed the rules & did not feed or touch the Zebras– although the Zebras don’t seem to know there is rules about them. They try to get food & stick their faces in your windows. The reason is unclear– but there must be a good one!
Pay attention to the sides of the path– one lady made a turn to close & ended up stuck with front tire in a ditch & rear tire blocked by a large rock.
Make reservations for riding tour. While driving through please pull to the side & let others pass you if you’re going to linger with a few animals.
Also if the animals are standing in front blocking the road, simply keep inching up– THEY WILL MOVE.
The bathrooms are clean & near the playground & picnic areas.
My suggestions is– pack a cooler for lunch & eat at picnic area after you park. Go over to the walking area & grab a few empty buckets. While in drive thru zoo use empty buckets for feeding– just place a little bit in there. Be careful– they will snatch bucket out of your hands! Drive thru zoo then at the end when you re-​enter parking lot near the front entrance gate TURN LEFT & park in the additional lot near bus parking & tour ride loading. Then go walk around the other section & see all the animals. You can leave through that exit near the horses (exiting out near bus parking to avoid waiting at front gate to exit)
This is a great place to spend the entire day!

Well worth the money enjoyment for all ages! Watch out for the Llama roadblock it took us about 3 minutes to get them to move LOL. We enjoyed little pigs, emus, llamas, goats, deer, and many other animals. Make sure you HANG ON TO YOUR BUCKETS!!! The animals will try to take them. We had so much fun remember DO NOT FEED THE ZEBRAS! Along with the drive thru zoo you have a none hay hay ride and a walk thru zoo. The animals will stick their heads into the car lots of fun! Can’t wait to return it is inexpensive and again well worth the money! Loved it

This is an experience that you cannot miss!
Me, my boyfriend, and my 8 year old sister came here on a whim one Sunday. We arrived around 2:45PM and it was crowded already. We were hoping to take a wagon but waiting until 4:30 was a no go. We got one bucket and proudly taking my Honda Accord Coupe entered through the drive style. Thank goodness I have a sunroof– the little sister loved sticking her head out to be the same height as the ostriches and emus.
We saw so many animals that it was truly unbelievable. Be prepared to spend about two hours minimum there if you want to frequently stop and feed every animal. The drive stretches through a multitude of land. I got to see animals up close like never before. There were so many piglets that were too adorable. They say not to feed the zebras. I’m not sure why but we saw others doing it. One lady had her door open to get some time with the pigs… I’m not sure what the heck was going on there so we just drove around.
Please note that while we thought it was a good idea to stick the bucket out the window, some animals don’t want to let go lol. One male cow refused to leave us. It was honestly scary for a few seconds because he was determined. Even as we hit the gas, his head was deep in the bucket.
Also, plan to have your car washed inside and out immediately after. My car is black and looked brown as we left. There was so much feed crumbs on the inside that it was ridiculous.
The visit was well worth the money. I would do it again. I only saw port o potties so be sure to use the bathroom before leaving the house!

Did the drive through safari and your not careful you’ll end up with a Llama or Emu in your grill. Animals are much better shape though if your there at open keep your fingers safe because they havnt been fed. They have some cute pigs a few, Giraffes and couple buffalo type wtf is that animals. Overall a cool experience a few things could be changed here or there but definitely worth a ride thru 3.5 stars.

Hella FUN !
We decided to ditch the WAGON ride and take our car for the tour, and it was worth it.
AT first we were too afraid to open our windows as the animals were too nosy, and snatched the food tubs from the other cars, but after moving a few yards we decided to let loose and open the windows. I had their saliva all over my Hands, windows and all over the exterior of the car.
All the animals were friendly except a few Llama’s, eventhough we werent supposed to feed the Zebras, they snatched the food so many times.
The advantage of taking your own car is that you could close the windows when animals are too close to comfort which is tough on the wagon ride.
Giraffes were the best part. Feeding them through the fence was lot of fun.
I enjoyed feeding the lambs /​goats, petting the donkeys and mules .
Overall this is a must Visit for kids and worth the distance and money.

So much fun for all ages! Priced very well. Had such a fun day! I recommend driving it yourself vs. the horse and buggy. You get to spend more time when driving yourself.

More than anything, they need to work on having fully functional bathrooms that are CLEAN and stocked with toiletries! Sink was broken and there wasn’t any hot water. After touching and feeding animals, you need to be able to properly clean your hands!
The ranch itself is nice. It takes about an hour to go through (depending on no. of guests) You can either drive through or take a wagon. I suggest driving through. You see an array of animals from zebras to deers, pigs, giraffes and a whole lot more. It’s a great learning experience for children. This is also a great way to see these animals up close. You can feed them too. Heads up. Be sure to use the bathroom before you go and get ready to smell a lot of manure. Other than the nasty, disgusting bathrooms, it’s pretty cool. You’ll enjoy it.

Brought the 3 boys I nanny here, and they had a blast on the playground, and driving through to see all the animals.
Pricing is per person, so if you’re adding a food bucket, or opting for the wagon ride the cost can be a little steep. But I’d say it’s worth the fun!
There’s plenty of picnic tables around to bring a packed lunch.
I was really surprised with how much land, and animal variety there was! Driving through took us roughly half an hour, and could take you much longer if you stopped more often.
My only complaint was that for how busy it was it seemed like they should have better bathrooms. I believe there were 3 stalls in the women’s, and they were very unkept, and i didn’t see a changing table anywhere. Otherwise it was a great experience!

It was super fun! But I do not recommend taking your own car. I have dents and scratches all over my car. Went to the nearest car detail. I should’ve kept my reservation for the wagon!

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR CAR THROUGH THE PARK!!! The goats jumped on the side of my car and the scratches are too deep to be buffed out. My car looks horrible, the doors are so scratched up. I am sick over it. I have to get it painted which is going to cost me hundreds of dollars.
The animals are fun. Take the wagon ride and I am sure you will have a great time!

Neat place to spend the afternoon. Somewhat costly… but worth a drive through at least once
Lots of fun driving through and petting/​feeding the animals. Everything from Steer, ostrich, deer, pigs, peacocks, chickens, giraffe, rhino… etc.
Word to the wise: If you are worried about your paint job… dont drive your car. Ride the wagon hay ride.

I took my sweet mother here for Mother’s Day and had a lovely time.
We drove through in our own vehicle, which I highly recommend. We got to go at our own pace and enjoy our own experience; no screaming children or missed opportunities to be slobbered on by livestock. We went through three buckets of feed between the two of us and it seemed like the perfect amount.
Being that Charlotte doesn’t have a *real* zoo, I’m pumped that Lazy 5 is close by and offers such great animal encounters. I will absolutely be making a return visit.

We went they day before Easter when they were having a huge Easter event. So we did have a lot of fun today, particularly on the wagon ride while driving through the animal park section. However it wasn’t without some serious stresses.
This place is not equipped to handle large crowds. It is a two way highway to get to the park, so add that with large crowds. Means the highway is backed up very badly. It took us 45 minutes to drive a half mile to the entrance. Our friends were 15 minutes behind us and it took them 3 hours! They also ran out of food midday. They need to know what their limitations are and not plan such extravagant events if it’s going to draw too large of a crowd.
The food needs some serious improvement. So the girl who has to take everyone’s order and take payment is also the girl who has to make the food! So it took 30 – 45 minutes to get two corn dogs and two drinks when there were only 3 people ahead of us. Also, the pizza they served was the cheapest single serving frozen pizza that can be found at Wal-​Mart. They should really invest in their food section of the park, even if it means charging more. If people are happy to dine at the park it means they will stay longer, be more happy and hopefully spend more money. We wanted to stay longer but our son was hungry and thirst again and I didn’t want to wait in line again.
I would go again, but would need to really prepare for this. Like not going when there are any special events, and brining a pack lunch.

This place is such a great and surprisingly not too well known zoo — but it’s so much more than that. There is a petting zoo, but the real treat here is driving through the acres and acres (either in your own car or their hay ride) and seeing the dozens and dozens of animals in their habitats. The first thing you’ll probably see are the emus. Boy, are they hideous! They’re so aggressive but facinating. They seem to be the barest of the animals and know a car means people with food!!!
So don’t be alarmed when they DO walk up to your car and if you’re not careful, they will stick their ugly heads (with super long necks) into your rolled down window to eat right out of your bucket. I’ve been here many times and have never been assaulted in any way — though they still manage to scare me with their assertiveness. Plus, it makes for great laughs for everyone else in the car!
You have to pay to get in and pay for feed — get a few buckets. Most of the animals see the buckets and food and are happy to come greet you! Lol!
HUGE TIP: if you have a nice car, don’t drive it through the grounds. Park it and take the hayride or bring another car. Why? Well, the silly animals may jump up (putting feet/​hooves) on your car (occasionally happens) in order to reach your window so they can chow down. You can avoid this by keeping moving (slowly, watch for their feet!) so they just see you passing, keeping your windows up (or they may think it’s an invitation to stick their heads in!), or throw handfuls of feed away from the car vs holding your hand or bucket out. And it’s easy to drive on (for any car type) but you will probably leave with a dusty car. But remember, MUCH OF THE FUN IS THE INTERACTION WITH THE ANIMALS !
I’ve gone as a kid, as a couple (adult) and with friends. Every time has been great! They have a giraffe, deer, pigs, rhinos, emu, lamas… You name it… This place is like no other so calling it a zoo doesn’t do it justice. Plus, sometimes online or in valuepak you can get bogo coupons.

We did the drive-​through option and this was a great experience — I absolutely LOVE animals, and seeing these animals roam around, lowering your windows to give them feed, and taking tons of pictures was great fun. We got to see pot-​bellied pigs, alpacas, giraffes, wildebeests, antelopes, deer, buffalo, zebras, and rhinos. You can also add a wagon ride to your admission. Great family fun or for anyone who’s an animal lover!
