History

Established in 1945.

Booth Movers, Ltd. was established in the early 1940s by William Booth, a prominent figure in the moving business throughout Hudson and Bergen Counties, New Jersey. The business grew and flourished through the fifties and sixties, and in 1978, Douglas Padla took charge of the company.

Since then, Mr. Padla has developed Booth Movers into one of North Jersey’s most respected moving companies. Based out of Moonachie, New Jersey, Booth Movers operates as a diversified operation offering local and long distance moving, storage, product and furniture distribution, and in-​home delivery services. Our 40,000-square-foot warehouse and office complex is equipped with a sprinkler and alarm system, video surveillance, four bays and one drive-​in door. We are licensed by the New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety, Division of Consumer Affairs, Office of Consumer Protection; and are an agent for Atlas Van Lines.

Hey everyone… I’m Adam and I“m part of the ownership team (family) at Booth Movers! I have been leading the Booth Team for over 6 years and am driven by providing exceptional service to our clients each and every time. Assisting me in my role is Doug Padla, my dad, and Lindsay Padla-​Sanborn, my sister.

Moving is a very difficult and stressful time in a person’s life. Many times, entire families are being relocated to a new state, new town, new school, new jobs and so many variable change in their lives. We are here to make your move as stress-​free and efficient as possible.

I currently reside in Hoboken, NJ but am originally from Wyckoff, NJ. My family still lives in Wyckoff and we are all very active in the community. In my free time I enjoy traveling, cooking, cars and being adventurous. In 2005 I graduated from University of Delaware and am using my degree in Finance/​Economics to keep Booth moving forward.

Booth Movers– The best. moved yesterday and naturally during a noreaster and Juan, J.R. and Tony made it seem like a warm sunny day. I knew that all was going to be fine when George organized and directed me on the day I contacted them — he analyzed the amount, estimated and then the guys showed and took the reins and the move happened. Had Booth Movers helped with my move this weekend and it was a life saver! The whole process from booking, follow-​up, confirmation, to the actual move itself was superb and in great details.
On the day of the move, Adam gave me a call 10min before 8am that the guys will be here in 15 minutes for our 4-​hour window starting at 8am. Within 10min, the guys (Harvey and Reggie) were here in a shiny clean truck! They took great care in moving my packed boxes and keep asking if there were more to add onto the truck (as I was still packing while they were here). They also graciously helped me to move a huge big TV that I cannot carry to the garbage. The way the packed and wrapped my items in the truck and the process they took in
At the new place, they checked in with me where each item/​box should go to minimize the need that I have to move them myself. Really appreciate their patience in helping me to configure furniture placement by moving the same item a few times, and also appreciate the interior design/​furniture placement ideas and suggestions that they friendly shared!
The whole process was so smooth and swift that it finished within 3 hours. The way they packed and wrapped my items in the truck, and the process they took in planning the whole move was very professional. If I ever have to move again, or if I know of someone moving, Booth is the one to contact! Efficient + Friendly + Professional = Winning combo!

My partner and I needed a last minute move from northern New Jersey to Eastern PA (he accepted a job on Monday and we needed to be moved and unpacked in just over a week). Adam was able to accommodate our schedule and had so much patience in waiting for us to find an apartment. The movers (Jr. and Juan) arrived right on time and quickly had our already-​packed boxes in the truck, wrapped our furniture and were even so helpful as to sweep one of the rooms for us! The two movers couldn’t have been nicer, and more understanding of move (and even of our two dogs!).
Once at our new apartment, they had everything quickly unloaded, had re-​assembled our bed frame, and had unwrapped and placed our furniture. We couldn’t have had a better experience, and would recommend Booth Movers hands down.

We used Booth to move us from New Jersey to Florida. They did a great job. The day before our move They came to pack up fragile things like TV’s and also to pack wardrobe boxes with all of our hanging clothes. They used Atlas for the actual move to Florida. Throughout the process I only needed to deal with the Booth people. They were always accessible. They answered every question. When we arrived in Florida, we had zero issues. Absolutely nothing was broken or damaged in the move. And the final good news was that the move wound up costing us almost $ 2K less than the binding quote we were given.

I recently used Booth Movers to move out of our apartment in NYC to a storage unit in New Jersey and we could not have been happier with the service they provided. From start to finish, everyone we dealt with was incredibly friendly and well-​coordinated. The moving crew, Lenny, Jorge and Walter, were incredibly professional, very organized and above all just nice, hardworking people. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and I will definitely be recommending Booth Movers to friends and family for their moves in the future.

THIEVES:
This started poorly and ended poorly. I chose this company based off the good reviews and was sorely disappointed. I spoke with George and told him a day I wanted to move, after confirming with him weeks before he said it was all booked a few days prior to my move so I had tor reschedule my flight a day earlier. Three men showed up who were supposed to have more than enough boxes, at the end they were too few and I had to go to home depot to pick up three more.
The guy packing the glassware on the stove leaned against the pilot light and started a small fire which he put out in my sink and left for me to clean up. No damage to the apartment but still, thanks for leaving burnt packing paper in my sink…
I sent a few emails about the status of my shipment and was promised updates that I didn’t receive until my wife had to personally call from a different number.
Some of my items that they helped pack at the end of the day were my TV, PlayStation, Wii among other items. They also packed a bag containing my sunglasses, watches, and pocket knives…
This was February 24th, my belongings arrived yesterday March 11 (A long wait). Most of the bags have been opened as they were savvy enough to leave all bags I had stored in boxes unzipped and opened. The PlayStation was removed from its original packing, the associated games are missing from the PlayStation and Wii as well as my watches, and knives. They left plugs in the TV that are now broken inside that will have to be replaced. They broke my wife’s jewelry nightstand and her portable steamer. We are missing a shelf to our bookcase. I have yet to go through everything else so I am sure the list will grow. I am filing claims with the company as well as the BBB and will see how this is handled and follow up.
TLDR: They stole and broke my belongings and it took a long time. It probably takes a while to go through all your bags to find what they want.

We have moved 5 times in the last seven years. Most were long distance, with some of the biggest and best known movers in the US. We thought we had some of the best service before giving Booth a try. BOY, we were we wrong!
Had a walk through to determine pricing, etc. The agent was amazing and really worked with us to keep us calm, focused and reassured that Booth was the right choice for our move. Got a confirmation call 3 days prior to our move that everything was set.
Day of the move, the movers got there right on time. Two trucks. Six guys with Tommy at the helm. The move out went so quickly and flawlessly that it was as though they hooked up a huge vacuum to the back and front doors and just sucked everything out. We had a TON of stuff and it was wrapped and packed into the trucks in three hours flat.
Move in was not going to be an easy job and we fully expected that we may have to lose some of our large pieces of furniture because the house was old and really small and not built for large dressers, beds, etc. But before we knew it, the dresser was hand (no straps) hoisted up to the second floor and through a window to the upstairs bedroom where it now resides. Not a scratch. Windows and doors all reinstalled perfectly. As a matter of fact, not a scratch on anything! Nothing broken and out fine art pieces were perfectly crated and moved with the utmost care.
Once the move was complete, Tommy noticed that our cars will still packed with stuff and even offered to unpack our cars. I didn’t have the heart to let them because of how hard they’d worked all day to get us settled.
All in all this was the single best move of our lives. The guys were so upbeat it made what is normally a stressful, trying experience a day filled with lots of laughter. I cannot recommend Booth strongly enough. If I ever need to move again, I would pay extra just to have them do the move. You can’t go wrong with Booth. They are unequivocally the BEST movers EVER! THANK YOU Booth!!!

Booth Movers were excellent during my parents recent move. The guys were very polite, well mannered and extremely efficient! My parents have a LOT of stuff. The guys from Booth planned the move and exactly how they wanted everything organized and were able to get through the move without any issues. I had taken the day off to help and ended up only being needed to tell my father to leave the guys alone and let them work. (and stop offering free advice, this is what they do!!) At the end of the day all went great, and my parents were left happy and not wiped out by a tough move. Next time instead of bugging my friends for help moving, I will be calling Booth Movers! Thank you :)

Just finished a move with Booth and had an awesome experience. They were fast, professional, and friendly. Our actual price ended up being less than our estimate which was a nice surprise. Both the office staff and movers were honest. They gave suggestions for things we should move ourselves to save money. I would definitely recommend them to anyone moving!

I went with this company based off of their Unilocal reviews and boy did they live up to them! Ray, Chris & Zach were amazing. If anyone is going to be moving, request them. They work as a team and do everything professionally and efficiently.
My husband has a broken back so a moving company was a MUST. I will never use another company in the future. I was quoted a certain amount while booking the move and the balance was cheaper than what I thought, another win!
The guys took apart any furniture that needed to be broken down and reassembled when we got to the new home. They were really good sports about me trying to decide where things were going to be placed, since I changed my mind a bunch of times.
Again, very professional and worth every penny.

Now this is a moving company you want to do business with!!!
I submitted an online request for a quote on a Tuesday (after they had closed) and received a phone call from George on Wednesday around one in the afternoon. I was not expecting to be able to hire the movers because I sought to move in only three days time, on Saturday.
George informed me that there were movers available for Saturday and we discussed the basics of my move. I explained to George that I had furniture and boxes in two storage units, the 10×10 unit being full and the 8×10 unit being approximately half full. I was moving from the storage units into a house about 20 minutes away that my wife and I had completely rennovated — refinished hardwood floors, new sheetrock, freshly painted.
George emailed me a written estimate an hour later for three men and seven work hours, plus one hour of travel time. (Note– the travel time was the estimate from the storage unit to the house and back to the unit — there was no charge for time from Moonachie to the storage unit). At $ 150/​hr ($ 50 per mover/​per hour) plus $ 25 for gas the estimate came to $ 1,225.00. George said that they would arrive between 8 am and 9 am with a target time of 8:30. Since I had seen the positive reviews on Unilocal,I booked Booth Movers.
This was, by far, the best moving experience of my life.
The movers called me at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday and informed me that they would be at the storage unit at 8:30. Sure enough, they arrived, ready to work, at 8:30.
The three movers, Will, Arby and Chris, were considerate, personable and dilligent workers. They had an infinite number of blankets and wrapped all of the furniture. They made sure that moving blankets were lining the truck floor. They strapped everything in when necessary so items did not shift during travel. They took care of and moved all of our furniture and belongings as if they were the ones who owned the objects. Everything was packed snuggly and secured tightly in the truck.
Once we got to our home, they worked carefully and without break to get our items into each designated area. They should be commended for what they did not do. They did not scratch the floors. They did not hit or otherwise ding the walls. They did not scratch the front door. They did not drop anything.
They were courteous and kind the entire time and very appreciative when my wife and I bought them lunch.
They finished their work in two hours less time than the estimate so the job cost $ 300 less than I expected to pay.
You really could not find a better company for moving. These guys surpassed all expectations. If you are trolling Unilocal,looking for someone to help you move, you need not look any further. Both Movers is your company.

My mom hired Booth for a big move from north Jersey to 1−½ hours south to south Jersey. They were on time, extremely professional, polite and hard working. They did a fantastic job packing, transporting and unloading my mom and were sensitive to her needs and any special requests. I highly recommend them! William, Angel and Zachery were an amazing team!
