I gave Steven Rubenstein a $ 1,500 retainer in 2009. He said $ 1,500 was enough to get me a no-​fault divorce in NJ. I already paid another lawyer to mediate and compose a property settlement agreement between me and my wife. Three years and $ 10,500 later for letters, phone calls and emails to me, my wife’s attorney and Morristown, NJ court it came time to represent me in court on Sept.27,1911.Unfortunately I could not travel to NJ from my new home in FL because I was sick in bed with complications from a severe head trauma suffered earlier. I wish I was there because Rubenstein was asleep, ill prepared allowing the judge to manipulate important terms in the property settlement agreement. Rubenstein didn’t correct the judge and in fact did not have a copy of the property settlement agreement with him nor was he familiar with the terms regarding spousal support. He continued sending me bills for legal fees for another year, then informed me he no longer wanted to represent me because of his malpractice.
