(Dined 06÷11÷14 W @ 7:00pm): I should’ve gotten drunk here sooner before their goat was toast! I arrived days before Three Drunken Goats was due to close the gate to their farm of Spanish tapas and wines. An expiring Living Social deal(up to $ 68 food/drinks for $ 30) led me here to my former Foothill community stomping grounds, so this was how the grubbing went: House Chardonnay($ 9.00) — I didn’t get the info on this but it had a subtle driness with a clean finish and perfect for the warm evening. Plus, it was a heavy-handed pour! 2011 Gary Farrell Russian River Selection Pinot Noir($ 10.00) — I’m not much of a Pinot Noir fan but there must’ve been some crack in this rambunctious red of fruity textures. I researched this online when I got home and bottles went for around $ 45! I might have to invest in a bottle or two! Again, a heavy-handed pour! Blue Star Wheet Beer($ 5.25) — This wasn’t part of the deal but fuck it, I was in for the long-haul as I watched the Kings/Rangers Stanley Cup Game 4 hockey game. A nice simple light fruity and citrusy taste with a smooth finish. Bacon-wrapped Dates with Chorizo($ 11.00) — Five plum sweet dates wrapped in bacon — hell yeah! Chorizo, you say?! Sure, but it was all about the bacon. The extreme sweetness of each date mixed well with each salty semi-think slice of glorious bacon. I could’ve done without the creamy honey mustard-tasting sauce, but if I had some bread to sop it up that would’ve been something else. Patatas Bravas($ 7.00) — This pile of chopped potatoes was hearty and very flavorful, but wasn’t as spicy as I’d hoped(I can handle it!). It was cooked longer than it needed to be as each piece was very soft and tended to fall apart when tipped into the sauce. However, this paired well with the Pinot Noir. Basque Caesar Salad with Roasted Garlic($ 9.00) — This was my least favorite of all the tapas as I felt it was too simple and uninventive. I also abhored the whole«wedge» idea of a salad. But, I liked the roasted garlic as I smashed it up and spread it on the toast slice. Piquillo stuffed with Idiazabal Cheese($ 9.00) — My second favorite tapa, this was off-the-hook good and gave me inspiration to try and make this at home. Basically a salad of sort, each piece was large enough that you had to cut it in half. Tasty! Service — There were only a handful of diners, so I walked up to the bar, introduced myself to the friendly male Asian bartender and sat down at a barstool. He quickly called over a server(Brandon) who kicked arse the entire time I was there. The rest of the staff(all males) were equally nice, very conversational, and were reasonably quick to deliver all the drinks and food. They each checked in from time-to-time but didn’t hound me. I had no complaints. Parking(free) — There were plenty of free outdoor parking lots(3-hour maximum in each stall) all around the main drag of Honolulu Ave. There were also metered street parking, or as a last resort residential parking a block or two in either direction. Atmosphere, décor, ambience — The front façade was very unassuming. But once you entered it opened-up to a massive lowly-lit nearly cavernous high-ceiling box with dark accents everywhere from the bar, chairs and tables. I liked the one exposed brick wall motif(very East Coast). The bar area was chill, and the floorplan was so spread out it appeared there was an area for either dancing or a band. I didn’t recall any decorations, etc. There was at least one TV at the bar as low background music played. Attire — Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. Overall, I enjoyed Three Drunken Goats and generally what they offered. Granted, due to their final days, the menu selections were limited so I didn’t have a full choice of items. It rubbed me the wrong way a bit, but I also understood, and I still liked what I had. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above(total paid experience was around $ 60.00 before discount and tip). I hoped the bacon-wrapped dates find another home! And they accepted my credit card of choice… AMEX! 4.0STARS

How many times have I been to Three Drunken Goats? Way more than three, that’s for sure, and that’s because of one item that lures me back: the bacon wrapped dates with chorizo. Absolutely must try them. I have come here just to get that dish and it’s worth it. But as long as you’re here, do try the churros with chocolate sauce for dessert. Divine. Cheeses, tapas including grilled prawns, paella, and a decent beer and wine selection make this a great place to hang out and talk.

We also got a dinner deal through LivingSocial. Unfortunately, the LivingSocial documentation is not real clear on what you get, and I don’t think that is necessarily the restaurant’s fault. However, I must say that we were happy with the plates we got and have no complaints whatsoever about the food(I even ate the roasted peppers, and ordinarily I hate peppers). I can’t comment on the wine that comes with the meal because I don’t drink alcohol, but my husband got the house white and said it was OK. The staff were friendly and attentive and we didn’t have to wait long for the courses to arrive. Tapas are small plates. If you’re not getting the fixed-price meal you have a lot to choose from, and you could easily spend yourself right under the table without half trying. The entrees are much more reasonably priced, and looking around us we could see that you get more food if you order an entrée, so that’s what we’re going to try next time(yes, we’ll go back). They have a seafood paella for 2 for $ 28 that looked like it would be well worth ordering next time. The walls are lined with wine bottles, so I would think it’d be easy to find a good one to go with your meal. My only real complaint is that the room is full of hard surfaces, the kitchen area is open in the back and there’s a TV behind the bar. Add in the music and the place is way more noisy than it needs to be. We were in there on a Tuesday night with only a handful of other diners and it was loud. I don’t think I could even walk in the door on a busy weekend night.

My party of four went for the first time because of a Living Social deal. We had a wonderful experience with fantastic service and excellent food. I would recommend this place to anyone and would be happy to return. My party of four ordered three different salads, 1 flatbread, 3 tapas, the charcuterie plate and 3 different desserts — and 1 peach beer. We shared everything and were pleasantly stuffed by the end of the night. Each item came out separately, so dinner was long but enjoyable. Some specifics: Salads: the deconstructed Cesar salad and beet salad were a hit. The margherita flatbread was more pizza than flatbread, but it was very good. Tapas: The bacon wrapped dates were the hit of the night. They were delicious and will be a must on a return visit. The garlic prawns on crustinis were very good. The salmon with asparagus was quite good as well. The cocktail-ish sauce was a little on the weak side, but the fish was perfect. The charcuterie plate was delicious across the board. The portion was generous for $ 13. We also ordered the manchego cheese separately. While delicious, you can easily skip a cheese course. Our three dessert choices: churros with chocolate sauce(part of the living social deal), orange glazed flan, and bananas foster. Note: if you want their flourless chocolate cake, order it before you’re ready for dessert: it takes ½ hour to bake. We went at 5 pm on a Sunday; the place was not yet crowded, and the noise level was very comfortable. Generals: Pros: Friendly service, delicious food, varied menu, easy living social deal Cons: A little slow… and they were out of two of our chosen items. Recommended!

I have driven by this location several times, and have been wanting to try it. Finally my dad and I decided to go up there for dinner. We walked in on a weekday evening and the place was pretty empty(4 other tables maybe). When we walked in no one greeted us, and we sort of wondered to see of we just seat ourselves. We sat down and then a bus boy came to give us water but my dad asked for a new glass because there was lipstick on his… gross. Once the waiter came up to us… which i might had i thought he was just some guy there… not dressed the part. He was very nice and knew the menu well and knew his wines pretty well. My dad and I both thought the menu looked great and wanted to try a bunch of things so we decided to share everything. All the food was so bland, i was really not impressed. 1st we got the golden beets, hazelnuts, arugula & goat cheese salad for 9 dollars. Flavorless goat cheese, beets where good. a simple salad i could make at home with better goat cheese. 2nd we got crostini with mushroom tapenade and goat cheese. this was so bland and had a funky after taste, and i am normally a fan of this dish. The one positive i will say is that they do give a very helpful size of it, normally you still have bread left over and no more tapenade, not with there serving size. 3rd we got artichoke and goat cheese croquettes. I love artichokes and this was my favorite out of the 3 things we had but it still was nothing id write home about. I wont be coming back sadly, this place has so much potential in my opinion.

I made reservations for my dad’s birthday at 7:30 on a Friday night. My family arrived at the restaurant at 7:30 sharp to find a crowd of people surrounding the host’s station. The host was no where to be found. As an older asian man(presumably the owner) scurried around attending tables, more people filed through the door. I’m not sure if the restaurant was understaffed that night, but having to wait 15 minutes without at least being attended by a host or hostess is unacceptable in my book. We were finally seated around 7:50, however, we quickly noticed that no one — and I’m not exaggerating here — had been served tapas or entrees. Several parties were snacking on bread and sipping wine, but among the 20 or so people seated in the restaurant, none of them were actually enjoying a meal. My family and I took this as a bad sign. We waited another five or so minutes to order drinks — no one came, so we walked out and over to Pepe’s next door.

LIVINGSOCIALBAITANDSWITCH ** BEWARE! Went here tonight 3.1.2014 for a living social deal that states the following: «Take your pick from a dizzying array of creative small plates like saffron clams in white wine sauce…» However, when you get there the owner’s son tells us that you have no choice and the following applied to this deal: 1) soup of the day or beat salad(an acquired taste at best) 2) Tapa: artichoke croquette and stuffed pepper 3) Dessert of your choice 4) House wine So here is our conversation with the owner: Us: The deal said we can pick our own Tapa Owner: Well you can take it up with Living Social because that is not what we agreed to Us: That is not up to us, you entered into a contractual agreement that you need to abide by. If you don’t, you can give us our money back. Owner: We haven’t even gotten payment for those deal so we can do that. Us: Well then you need to honor the agreement Owner: It wouldn’t be fair to the owner customers My husband: We don’t care about the other customers, this is our birthday and your are ruining it. Owner:(stepping back a foot in disbelief) Sir, you don’t have to use language like that Me: Well, you are ruining our night. Owner: Because it is your birthday, we will honor it. This was a very smart move as we are both lawyers and this was headed in the wrong direction. I have to say the food was something special but in an economy like this, I choose not to give my money to people like this. And I will not support a business that operates in this capacity. We will not be back again. On a side note, this sounds like a business owner that is bitter about his agreement with Living Social. More often than not, I run across this with these deals. I have a hard time believing that LS did not run the details by them before they ran the ad. After all, this is all they do is set up contracts around town with business owners. More often is the case that businesses bite off more than they can chew and make up their own rules later. Its called Bait and Switch and it is illegal! Turns out it was the waitresses last day too!(1 more star for her professionalism)

My boyfriend and I come here when we want to go somewhere relaxing to have a drink. The first time we came was during happy hour and it was surprisingly kind of empty, but we didn’t mind it was nice to have practically whole space to ourselves. My boyfriend had a glass of red and I had a white sangria and we both really enjoyed them. Off the menu we both shared the sweet potato fries, I had the grilled cheese on baguette and he had the pulled pork tacos. Everything was pretty satisfying. I remember the sauce that came with the fries was really good, I can’t really pinpoint what it was exactly, but it was a nice change from ketchup. Other times we’ve came here we’ve had the Golden Beets, Hazelnuts, Arugula & Goat Cheese salad, Margherita Pizza, and Braised Short Ribs with Roasted Smashed Potatoes, all of which were okay. The beets in the salad tasted sort of as if they came out of a can and the whole dish didn’t really make sense to me. As for the margherita flatbread, I really had higher expectations. I was expecting fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, basil on a flatbread, but what I received was this thick piece of doughy bread with sauce and globs of standard pizza cheese and some fresh basil. I don’t know, it tasted okay, but I was expecting more as I mentioned earlier. Overall, this place is a nice spot to grab a glass of wine when you want to stay local.

I have been here several times with a good friend that lives in the area. The service is always pretty good, the food absolutely delicious. Their signature appetizer, the bacon wrapped dates are unbelievably superb. I am a person that is very open to eating vegan cuisine and also very healthy cuisine, so when my friend told me about these dates I shrugged it off, until I tried it! I also had their paella once and it was absolutely delicious. I am glad there are three drunken goats, in fact I would request for them to increase it to maybe five drunken goats. They really have a nice little local treasure here.

A great tapas place that serves great sangrias as well! Owner and staff are really friendly and really wants you to enjoy your dining experience here. The following items are a must try: paella, skirt steak, octopus, bacon wrapped olives, and the white sangria! They have so many good things in the menu and I can not wait to go back and try some more! I think it’s time to schedule another date night… wink!

Came in on a Tuesday to try their paellas since its a Spanish restaurant. The«co-owner» notified us that the rice was not made correctly because the chefs was off for a few days so he didn’t recommend the paella. We appreciate his honesty. We decided to leave and try it another night when the real chef was working so a week later we returned, this time we ordered one of the tapas– the potato tortillas, it was tasty and quite good. The seafood and vegetable paella was mediocre, the rice was partially cooked we could still feel some crunch with each bite — not a good thing, very skimpy on the seafood with tiny clams — just three of them, a few pieces of squid and a couple of small shrimps. Overall we definitely had much better paella. Not authentic. The churros had a bitter aftertaste, it was strange, chemically tasting, again I’ve had much better. We were so excited to try them but what a disappointment. The service was good, both waiter and waitress were attentive and kept checking on us. Oh Yeah. we had to ask for bread, since we saw other tables with them — guess they forgot. Not coming back that’s for sure.

Holy crap that’s some overpriced poop! No, seriously… Don’t waste your cash like I did. Just drive your butt into town where the food is worth the money you pay. The waiters are crap too… Oh… And the wine is flat and without character.

It’s sad to say such a cute restaurant/bar that I’ve always wanted to go to has disappointed me so much! We were seated and waited 30 min for bread. We asked what is taking so long and our waiter said we make it fresh unlike other restaurants. So do you want your bread or not??? He was so incredibly rude. I asked to speak to the owner… What do you know? He is the owner. The food didn’t impress. I’m never coming back.

We went here with a Groupon, which is good because otherwise the restaurant would be a bit pricey for what it is. That said, it’s pretty hard to find a good tapas restaurant and this one had pretty solid food. It wasn’t crowded on a Sunday night, so I hope they sustain sufficient business to stay in business as well. Service was decent. Food was really good. We enjoyed the olives with almonds, artichoke and goat cheese croquettes(a bit pricey for what we got but really tasty), olive tepanade and goat cheese crostini(good, but given the amount of tepanade, it would have been nice to have a couple additional pieces of bread), scallops wrapped in bacon in a corn and spinach sauce that was superb, and potatoes. All were very tasty, and we actually left very satisfied. I would come back, but would prefer to come with a foursome so we could try more dishes.

I don’t usually give 5 star reviews, but when I do it’s definitely well deserved. Food, atmosphere and service were stellar. First of all, I love the location at old town Montrose village for its cozy small town atmosphere and abundance of great eateries, shops and boutiques. So many surprisingly good places to visit and check out which is how I actually found this place. It’s a Spanish style Tapas restaurant and wine bar that reasonably priced, good quality and serves superb food. The layout is very open and spacious with plenty of seating available, including a few tables in the front side walk and at the bar. The dark wood tone colors, open kitchen and high ceilings combined with a large selection of regional wines from Spain, Argentina and Napa makes this an inviting and relaxing place to dine for any occasion. As for the food, both excellent and delicious — served mostly tapas style, they have an array of scrumptious dishes for you to nibble on as well as full menu entrees that sure to satisfy your appetite for Spanish cuisine. My recommended favorites include: Tomato basil bisque soup(soup of the day) –the wonderful rich creamy tomato broth was flavorful, savory and delicious. Definitely will sooth your soul and tummy. Dates wrapped with bacon and chorizo was awesome. Everything tastes better with bacon, and dates are no exception! An explosion of amazing flavors — sweet, savory, salty and smoky that will leave craving for more. A must try item and worth $ 9. Golden beets, arugula, hazelnut and goat cheese salad — refreshing, tasty and good. Nice presentation and the combination of flavors were delicious, especially lightly sweet golden beets and tanginess of goat cheese. Dessert — Churros with chocolate sauce — Make sure to save room for dessert because there fresh made Churros is incredibly delicious and highly recommended. Made to order, fresh and served piping hot. These tasty sugary cinnamon morsels of goodness are so delightfully yummy. Served with a warm dark rich chocolate sauce, it’s will surely make your visit unforgettable and put a huge smile on your face. For a good deal on tapas, sangria and wine($ 5), make sure to check out their happy hour on Monday– Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Parking — Private Lot in back. Overall — I will surely be back soon so expect to see one more additional drunken goat during happy hour.

Came here around 2pm on a Saturday afternoon~ Public parking was easily found behind the restaurant. The restaurant was empty so our food came out fast. Golden beet salad was good, sprinkled with hazelnuts and feta atop a bed of mixed greens. Bacon wrapped dates were a larger size than average and served at a pleasantly warm temperature~ The paella mixta & grilled octopus were not raveworthy. The service was exceptional aside from a major faux pas upon our arrival. The dude offered us a complementary round of moscato and churros for a bday dessert to make up for it so all was forgiven.

They’ve added an Oyster Bar! Reasonably priced, too, so we treated ourselves to some wonderful Fanny Bay Oysters. Half dozen. The only thing that really doesn’t work is the olive tapenade they serve with the oysters. Uh, no. Doesn’t work. You need mignonette. Horseradish. Cocktail sauce. We slurped them w/some lemon juice. And did not order more. Love the grilled caesar which comes w/roasted garlic, stuffed piquillos, crab croquette, sugar chili prawns, steamed clams w/chorizo, skirt steak, grilled asparagus with walnut vinaigrette. Paella is subpar. Skirt steak is getting more and more expensive esp for the portion, $ 18. Wish they’d serve grilled bread normally, and not such stingy portions(2 slices at a time) you often have to ask, and it takes so long that your, the very one you want to use it with, dish gets cold. Service is hit or miss. We’ve waited interminably, and we’ve been served attentively. And it’s not always a function of how busy, or how big a group it is. Too bad as they have a nice selection of beers, wine, tapas. Just wish they’d iron out the inconsistency, vary the menu a little more, and watch the rising prices with respect to serving sizes.
