History

Established in 1974.

We started SCOTTS in a small auto shop in Glendale, doing repairs and setting up suspension for local racers. Our popularity and performance gained momentum in a hurry and we had to move to our current location in Montrose in September of 1974. Great service, technical know-​how and commitment to our customers gave us an edge over our competition. We were obsessed with making only the highest quality products and giving unequalled support. Starting with 2 employees, we expanded our line up to include accessories for all facets of off-​road motorcycling. We were all very active in off-​road racing. Scott, the owner, became an active Baja 1000 racer between the years of 1987 — 1995. Many of the products we manufacture now were developed during those racing years. We joined forces with Ohlins Racing in 1987 and together we developed the premier Steering Stabilizer, acknowledged by Motocross Action as «One of the 10 most influential products of all time!»

Been going here for years and I plan keeping it that way. The staff here are really good guys, they are all riders and love their work. They don’t carry a huge selection for one the storefront isn’t that large, but they carry most of the things you would need quickly. They know their products and will not sell you something they don’t believe in. Not too mention they repair and sell by far one of the best steering dampeners on the market. I have their steering dampener on every bike I own from my honda cr500 to my BMW s1000rr. Parts that they don’t have in stock they can order from their various distributors. You won’t be disappointed shopping here.

Last week I purchased a Scott’s Steering Damper for my motorcycle and I didn’t even purchase it from them directly. I actually purchased it online through a third-​party website. Anyhow, I was messing with the settings on the damper. I loosened the bypass valve screw too loose and as I gave the steering a tug, the screw popped out and about half the fluid came out :(
I called Scott’s Performance and spoke with Eric. He was very friendly, curtious and knowledgable. He told me to ship the unit to him and all I had to pay for was shipping! WOW! These guys are top notch and deserve all the credit for their professionalism. I called them up today and they said they have received it and will be working on it today. The gentleman that answered the phone politely told me that it would be done and I should see it at my doorstep by Tuesday!

Everyone is very helpful there and finally got their Scotts Performance dampener for my Yamaha WR250r. I am planning on testing it today; it is the defacto standard in the off road motorcycle industry.
The dampener is nice on the sand you can dial it up or down which helps with the control of the front end… Last night the dampener saved me from wrecking and a trip to the hospital. I was up in Gorman riding back at night (not to smart) on the paved section, went around a turn, hit a good size rut and the front end washed out. The bars went full left and then the dampener engaged and the bars went full right, but never locked out. Almost high sided the bike. Looked down immediately after the occurrence and the speedo said 72mph.

I needed «Magura Blood» (mineral oil) for my KTM hydraulic clutch. I could find it online but didnt want to wait for the shipping. I called all over Los Angeles. No one had it, one guy suggested Home Depot (huh?!?) Called Scotts Performace. An actual person answered (James) instead of an automated system, I asked if they carried it, he knew exactly what I was talking about, said they did and they were open till 7pm. I went after work, got there about 6:50pm. I said I called about the Magura Blood (which is pretty cool to say out loud) he remembered the call, had it in my hands and checked out in under 5 min.
Super quick, easy, and friendly. Place has been there since the 70’s apparently and I had never heard of it. Will definitely return and recommend for offroad gear/​parts and misc. random things a motorcycle needs from time to time.
