Somers Hardware no longer exists but ‘Tip’, the son of the Somer’s owner, now works for the chain hardware store, Aubuchon Hardware who expanded into the space where Somer’s used to be. Tip is supper helpful and I like the continuity of dealing with him for 20 years from the old shop.

A real step back in time, Somer’s has that pleasant smell of old hardware stores, friendly aproned staff appear to be off the set of «It’s a Wonderful Life» and can somehow find most any odd order you throw at them: a meat thermometer, nut chopper, plate hangers, PVC pipe joints, Pyrex® pie pan, a flag pole, brass cup hooks, and sweet pea seeds. Hours can be somewhat arbitrary in comparison the the competing Aubuchon’s next door.
