La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa

La Toretta is a classic three star property. Set your expectations accordingly and you should have a really nice time. Its been re-​done and updated but everything could still use a little TLC and touch up across the board.
I visited for three nights with my teenage daughter. This is a very family friendly property. In fact there were alot of families most with elementary school aged kids. There is also a large conference center and there was a conference and several weddings going on the weekend we were there.
I would only recommend this for families with kids or a family reunion type of place.
The Pros:
–We stayed in a Lake View Suite (double) and the room was clean, and large. There is a separate seating area from the bedroom and there is a large bathroom with separate large walk in shower and tub. 2 TVs. no microwave in room (See Cons)
–Everyone we encountered on staff was pleasant and polite and nice. To a person. All weekend. That went a long way for me
–Amenities. Again, keep in mind the 3 stars and you are good. Tennis courts, mini golf, four pools (one is adults only 18+ which was welcomed), plus a cove to swim in the lake if that’s your thing. But none of the amenities are top notch. They advertise an arcade but its a joke. Literally half the games had out of order signs taped on them. There were fireworks one night and I was impressed with the size and length of the show. They also show movies inside each night and sometimes pool side. Poolside Smores each night too. NOTE: the resort fee does not cover the on site kayaks or SUP. Those are extra charges.
–Golf course. I don’t golf so I have no idea if the course is good or not but it appeared well kept and it was pretty
–Pools overall. because there are 4 I never felt like the pool was too crowded to move or find a spot or chairs. Adult infinity pool was the best
The Cons:
–General upkeep on grounds (not inside) could use improvement. Employees were not quick enough to bus tables at outside areas, beer cans and cups were left along pools etc. Just looks poor
–Food on site. Average at best. The sushi bar, and bar was the best. The outdoor pool grill was what you would expect. I wanted to eat lunch there but passed. Didn’t look that great. The main restaurant was all buffet only and overpriced. Went for breakfast and then decided to skip buffet lunch and dinner and ate off property. Confident in my decision
–Had a housekeeping issue. Left the room from aprox 10:45am-3pm with service light requested and room was never serviced. Finally got a knock on the door at 5pm to service room. We were there so all we got was a change of towels, new coffee and the trash emptied. Really? 4 hours to do room and couldn’t get it done
–Requested a microwave for the room (in a «suite» should’t this be standard?) and they brought it up, for a $ 20 charge. OK. so I spent 20 bucks on the microwave and saved 18×2 on the breakfast buffet the next day. So i came out ahead. But again, would a 4 or 5 star resort charge for this? I don’t think so
In conclusion, if you want to take your kids or meet family for a long weekend there is plenty to do on property to fill the days. Just plan to leave for most meals and don’t expect the place to look like a high end resort.

I was very excited to stay at this resort for a long weekend. All staff was very friendly and for the most part, helpful. However, the hotel and water park, as a whole, lacked luster and seemed a bit old. For example, I was extremely surprised and disappointed that there was no microwave in the Lakeside Suite. We had to request it for an extra $ 20, which seemed quite outrageous. On Sunday, we requested for our room to be cleaned at roughly 11am. When we got back at 3:30pm, the light was still on, and our room was not cleaned. Besides the wait, the rooms and bathroom were clean. However, we did see a cockroach running around on our first night. The pool area is nice for the most part. All of the pools, though, were extremely warm, and the floats provided were often flat and out of air. I also have to comment about the self-​parking lot. The walk from the parking lot to the resort is brutal, especially under the Texas sun. The arcade needs to be updated and fixed. The mini golf and tennis courts were adequate, but nothing special. All in all, a fun stay, but the resort could use some extra TLC. A bit of a drive for just «adequate.»

I am really happy about our stay here ! 5 star treatment for my wife’s Bday celebration. After reading the reviews I was skeptical but you can’t please everyone! I recommend this place highly with such a big resort at times it hard to please everyone but if you ever get a chance come here !!! Texas Resort …

I bought my family a day pass for the Aquapark. 45 min into our time at the park, we were told to leave because of bad weather. We inquired about a rain check for another day but was told by the help desk that there is no rain out policy. We spent $ 110 for basically nothing.

I host a conference here every summer, and I’m really happy with it. I understand that this place has had some really rough times and bad owners. But the new owners seem to have things under control. The hotel is in nice shape, the grounds are really nice. I am in the cottage suite this time, and love having the big cottage.
It’s a good place for a conference. Lake Conroe is very pretty. And the prices are really low cost for my conference — the room rates are incredibly low and the hotel gives us great deals on banquet orders. So I’m really happy.

I would give this place 3.5 stars, but since that is not an option I bumped them up to 4 stars. My wife, son, and I recently stayed here as part of a wedding party. After I booked I started reading Unilocal reviews and was scared that we had wasted our money with all the bad reviews. Overall we had a really good experience here and found it to be nice.
Pros: They have done a remodel and everything has a modern feel to it. We got a two bedroom lake villa and it was HUGE. It was 1800 sq. ft. which is unheard of in hotels. Friendly staff, very well manicured landscaping and a really nice pool area. We had the breakfast buffet and it was well stocked with your normal breakfast stuff. Maybe a little over priced but most buffets are.
Cons: There is not sugar coating this, the beds are horrible. They are what you would expect in a low budget motel. This place is a little pricey for what you get. Their pricing is up there with places like The Hyatt Lost Pines and hotels like The W and the Intercontinental. For the price they charge I expect an excellent bed, no cracks in the grout in the shower, and no cobwebs in the corners of the room. A lot of posts mention that there is a bug problem. We experienced a lot of bugs at night, but this place is in East Texas and is by a lake so you would expect bugs. I think where they fail is knowing this and not having dedicated staff that goes around to specifically clean up bugs everyday. The outside of our villa had bugs and insects everywhere on the back porch. It looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned all summer.
Bottom line: A great place if you are from this area. I wouldn’t drive 3 hours to stay here again I would probably go to Lost Pines for the same price.

Worst hotel experience. Uncomfortable beds a foot off the ground. A lazy river barely wide enough to fit one tube. Understaffed at pool so the poor pool wait staff were running around crazy taking care of whole pool with two people. Power went out and restaurants were not available to eat and they did nothing to accommodate guests. Ordered room service to the bar and it sat in the back an hour before we were given it to eat. Ordered an iced tea in the morning that took two hours. They need to replace the upper management and staff more people. I don’t pay $ 300 a night to have to order 2 hour delivery of dominos and be told to get out of the pool all afternoon.

Nice resort. Clean and well kept. Very unprepared for guests though. Gift shop closed. Getting room service took us going down to pick up our food. Getting food or drinks at the pool took 45 minutes. They were out of many items offered on their menu.

After a HORRIFIC first time stay, I received a free night from management to appease me. So we were going to try it again — give it a chance. When I called to use the gift certificate, I was told the lady needed to get someone else to help make my reservation. She took all of my information, including the gc#, phone, date, etc. NO ONE ever called me back. So then I called back a week later and this time I was told I couldn’t book the date I wanted to — which I was not told the first time, so obviously the receptionist is not trained at all. The date I wanted required me to book two nights. So basically they will get your money one way or another. I decided not to book since my first stay here was such a nightmare and this booking process had now become one.

The check in process was a breeze besides the wait in line but it comes with the territory. We stayed in a golf cottage, the toilet ran constantly and the fridge was not on a steady platform. The room itself was ok. Nothing spectacular. There’s a $ 25 per day resort fee. The first day I took the kids to the pool area and I wanted to grab a few drinks and some food. The cashier Wesley charged my card for food I didn’t even order! Instead of $ 40, my tab was almost $ 70!!! I was pissed then he said he didn’t know how to do a refund! Oh it was on!!! So the manager refunded my card and he then charged me the correct amount. My food came out and it was wrong! I was overly pissed after waiting over an hour for my food! I then asked to speak to the manager over the phone. I spoke with Harold and he was a pleasure to speak with and he corrected the issue. There is an adult pool that no one monitors. There were little children in the hot tub splashing and throwing water. Nasty water landed all in my cocktail. I was furious!
However, the location was great but no one enforces the rules and there needs to be more training for the staff and more walk throughs by the facilities manager.

Pros

–Housekeeping was extremely pleasant, maybe you should pay them more since they are the only people that seem to do their job well?
Cons
–Alyssa at the front desk was for lack of a better word unpleasant. (I’m sure you know the word I’m referring too.)
–For every damn time the channel on the TV preaches about «Attention to detail» I find it ironic that my balcony is covered with insects and spider webs. Not to mention its also all over the lobby!
–Over priced drinks and food. 13 dollars for a cocktail? Really?
–Checkout process… Make a damn sign saying «Drop of your card here»
When whomever responds to my review don’t apologize for the unpleasant stay, fix the damn problems. If every single person is complaining about the same thing it’s probably a problem.

I was super excited to come to this destination for a little spring break getaway and yes, did purchase the groupon and there were definitely some pros and cons about the stay.
The grounds and building itself are pretty nice and the rooms are spacious along with the bathroom. The pools were lovely and the view of the lake was great. And friendly staff was pool area and housekeeping. I will agree that the balconies could use a good power wash and insecticide so that guests wouldn’t be afraid to open the patio door to enjoy the view without spiders and mosquitos. I thought I was crazy at first but black particles come out of the shower head– probably dirt or even mold and that was pretty scary.
Upon check in, the front desk staff (Alyssa) does not come off as accommodating or happy to be there. Along with no smile you get a vague explanation of a credit card charge that will be for incidentals and other fees. And when asking for a specific breakdown you will get slapped with «you didn’t pay for the resort fee when you got the groupon» and I am aware of that– but please be specific about the «excess» other fees. As I write this, I’m still waiting for my «room incidental hold» to be returned to my card. It didn’t just happen to me at check in but any other guest with the groupon was made pretty obvious with the typical you need to pay this response. It just made the rest of the visit unwelcoming and we didn’t want to ask questions because it felt like we were bothering them.
I bought a $ 13 piña colada then decided not to purchase any other food at the resort with Omni prices but Best Western quality so future guests can dine at their own risk.
Overall, I tried staying positive to enjoy my stay but, I probably won’t be returning. Hopefully the consistent problems/​complaints can be fixed.

Stayed here two nights. Some things were good, but a few things needed attention.
The beds were very uncomfortable. The beds seemed more like something you’d find in a Motel 6 as opposed to a place like La Torretta.
The breakfast buffet was mostly cold. This included biscuits, bacon, sausage, pancakes, etc all cold. Even the coffee was cold. Even the coffee that I got to replace the cold coffee was cold. Perhaps there were things I didn’t try that weren’t cold, but it seemed cold food was the standard for all 12 of the people in our group. To top it off, the breakfast buffet is $ 19.50. I don’t mind paying premium price for premium product, but this was by no means premium product. The lady making the omelettes somewhat salvaged what was otherwise a thoroughly disappointing meal.
There were some good things.
The showers in the room were great.
The guys working valet were also great. All very friendly and professional.
All around it was nice but not that nice. Seems like the place has a lot of potential, just needs a lot more attention to detail. Probably would not stay here again.

If you are looking for a getaway I would highly recommend going to La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa. Me and my husband go to this resort every year and enjoy it every time. The staff are very helpful and the rooms are amazing. Nice pool and dining area :)

The reason I’m giving this place 3 stars is not for the hotel because it was really nice but rather because when we booked they failed to tell us that there was a convention in December that caused all bars and cafes to be closed. Not the best experience especially for the amount we paid to basically do nothing and leave the resort to find something to eat.

I stayed at La Torretta two times over two weeks for work conferences and was really impressed with what I experienced. Some highlights for me:
–The rooms are great-​with a living room area, bedroom and huge bathroom. The first week I was in a king bedroom, which was my favorite, and the bathroom had double sinks. The second week I was in a room with 2 double beds, which was also good, but I preferred the other.
–One week I had a view of the pool and lake and the second week a view of the lake. Both were great! But there was a LOT of spiders on my balcony the first week, which had me not spending as much time out there as a would have.
–The conference food and rooms were good, although like most places, they could just not get the temperature right in the big rooms.
Unfortunately with the conference schedule, I didn’t get the experience any of the amenities, but from what I did experience, I would like to come back here with the Hubby and try this place out for fun.

My company has held its annual Christmas party at La Torretta for the last three years. The first year, I speculated that maybe with the facility being new, they had some kinks to work out. Last year, I thought wow, nothing is getting any better. This year, it became blatantly apparent that this facility could care less about cleanliness or proper management of their facilities. They are obviously understaffed, and cleanliness is not important whatsoever to whomever is running this place. The comments that the management gives reviewers who complain are almost laughable. I can assure you that no matter what they say, no one who works at this place is concerned about cleanliness whatsoever. It’s not clean!
The valet typically has 10 – 15 cars waiting to park. The self-​parking lot is too small for the facility and is typically full, so if you valet, which you’ll likely have to (at the cost of $ 15 per day), be ready to wait. And then, they might not be able to find your keys when you go to get your car back.
Upon entry to the lobby, it’s immediately apparent that the housekeeping staff, if there is one, is way too busy to keep this place tidy. Trash cans everywhere are overflowing, they have no liners in the cans so most of them have visible drips of liquid & who knows what all up & down the interior of the cans, the carpet is stained, and the floor mats at the entry are filthy & unkempt.
The rooms themselves are hit or miss. It’s pretty obvious that corners were cut in the decorating of this place, and the furnishings are cheap. They may only be a few years old, but they’re not great. Co-​workers complained about a fake eyelash left on the sofa in their room. The first year I stayed there, the shower leaked water all over the bathroom (by no fault of my own), and the windows and balconies are consistently dirty. The thermostats do not work. Many of my co-​workers, both this year and last, complained that no matter what temperature they set the thermostats at, the heat would not quit running. My room did the same thing this year. Heated up to probably 80 degrees and just kept going, no matter what we tried.
The food provided in the banquet room is mediocre at best. Everyone this year liked the mashed potatoes, but pretty much everything else was just «okay.» The desserts were good, I’ll give the kitchen that much.
My husband went to the coffee shop in the morning, only to find the sugar & cream area covered in bugs. There were bugs in our room as well. Ants eating crumbs that were left on the carpet.
Not once in the three times that I have stayed at this place have I seen a housekeeping cart or a maid anywhere in the facility, which I think says quite a bit. It’s evident that cleanliness is not a strong suit of this hotel. So much for being a «resort and spa»…I’d liken it to more of a Motel 6 with some nice outdoor amenities.

The Resort was very nice. The room was more than expected. The restroom was beautiful. The beds were super comfortable and that is definitely hard to beat at hotels. The only reason I am giving this place 4 stars and not 5 is because there was no complementary breakfast.

If there was a no star, I’d give it.
The wait staff in the restaurant were rude. The front desk lady, named Alyssa, was so rude. She just was not happy that we were there and tossed papers at us to sign. The rooms are old and messed like mildew. The lobby was filled with bugs. Very huge disappointment.
We decided not to even stay the night even tho we paid for it.
Going home wasted $ 150.

We had a total of four families stay here and all of us agreed it was a fantastic time. Our kids ranged from 0 – 10 and they all had a blast. There are several pools on property. We spent most of our time in the toddler/​kiddie area with the two slides and massive bucket of water that splashes over half of the area. There is also an infinity pool with another pool below, baby pool (with a huge canopy to block the sun), and lazy river. Unfortunately we were unable to partake in the mini-​golf due to lack of time.
The rooms are good. I was surprised we had a standard room and it was as spacious as it was. There is a living room with a flat screen tv (couch, chair, and coffee table). The bathroom has a tub, a separate stand-​up shower and a double sink.
Breakfast was great. The buffet is $ 20, however kids 5 and under eat free. There is an option for the continental breakfast at $ 10/​pp. They basically go off the honor system and you tell them what you had. The continental breakfast was the buffet minus any eggs or sausage or pancakes. The buffet included an omelet bar and waffle station. I thought they layout was great. The fruit was very fresh and looked and tasted wonderful. The downside was that service was a bit slow with drinks. They have the drink station out in the open but ask that you talk to your server… which felt very inefficient when our service was so slow.
This is a great place for families. We look forward to visiting again. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.

Came here for a business conference. Great staff, like truly an amazing set of folks work here! I was blown away by the level of service I received from various outlets around the hotel. The pool and water-​park area is just insane and shouldn’t be missed.
The guest rooms are at least 700 sq ft and quite comfortable. You can tell they have had a renovation in the last 5 years or so as everything still looks pretty fresh.

This is a fun resort close enough to home to come out for a few days to play with the kiddos! Aqua park is fun with a kids ape, lazy river, slides, and regular pool. Not to mention an infinity pool for adults only.

As many other reviewers have noted, this place is old and dated, but it still has some good potential. The problem is the staff and their attitudes. A pleasant experience created by the hotel staff can make up for a lot of dated aesthetics. This place just can’t seem to get it together.
The first night we were there, we ate at the sushi restaurant, which was fantastic. Best meal that we had while we were there, but the service was slow and our waitress didn’t seem like she likes her job all that much.
We played golf the second day, and it was just not a great experience. Overpriced round and overpriced beer and food. The woman who serves beer and food is one of the rudest people I have ever met. EVER. It honestly shocked me that she could be that awful to people and still have a job. And, to top it all off, when we got back to our cottage after the golf course, we walked up to our door and found that the maids, who had started cleaning our rooms as we were leaving earlier that day, had left the door open. Awesome…
We went to the «fancy» restaurant later that night and it was awful as well. The manager of the restaurant was darling, but the waitstaff were incredibly rude and inattentive. Our reservation was for 9:00. We were seated at 9:30, and there were plenty of tables available. We spent $ 350 for three of us to eat and have a couple of drinks. There were several times that we almost got up and walked out due to the horrible service. We should have.
We filled out an online customer experience survey and described our experience in detail. We have never heard from anyone at La Torreta and, based on our experience while we were there, we don’t plan on hearing anything. The room rates are cheap, but they will nickel and dime you to death. Go somewhere else for your weekend getaway.

La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa has all types of accommodations — from standard suites to cottages and villas. Everything you need is right on-​site. You can literally check in and never touch your keys again! The resort has some great restaurants and is just a 10-​minute drive from Conroe where you’ll find many more. There’s a Wal-​Mart just minutes from the resort — handy if you happen to forget something or just need a snack for the mini-​fridge in your room.
We stayed in the Lake View Suites on the 20^th floor. It’s hard to find words to describe the view; morning, day or night — the view from the balcony was absolutely breathtaking. Though it hardly does it justice, the photography will give you an idea. This spacious, 600-​square-​foot suite was very comfortable and the bathroom was enormous. Our suite had two nice-​sized flat screens, one in the living area and another in the bedroom. Large, sliding glass doors were a feature in both the living area and the bedroom, making our suite the perfect place to watch the sunset. Although the room was so beautiful and comfortable that I could have relaxed there all day, we went out each day to explore and take in all the amenities the resort had to offer. The first day we played 18 holes of golf. Our stay was in August, which is probably not the best time to be out swinging clubs in the Texas heat! But this beautiful golf course is surrounded by stately shade trees so we found ourselves in the shade most of the time. The club house has a small restaurant, a bar and a pro section where you can get any equipment you might need. The staff is very friendly and eager to help. We thoroughly enjoyed our day of golf.
That evening, we went to check out the Lakeside Restaurant & Bar which, oddly enough, is by the lake, ha! The restaurant is beautiful, the wine list is awesome and the dining experience is just amazing! This establishment comes highly recommended. I suggest you dine at the Chef’s table in the kitchen, as we did. This service comes at no extra cost, but you need to reserve in advance. After our meal, we settled down on the sandy beaches which run up to the lake and enjoyed watching a spectacular fireworks show. This wasn’t your average run-​of-​the-​park show, it must have lasted at least 15 minutes! What a beautiful cap to a great day here at the La Torretta Resort. We spent the next day at the Aqua Park, a fabulous summer playground featuring multiple pools: a Lazy River, a Breeze Buster pool, a 6,400 sq. ft Mediterranean Pool, and a big pool for adults. Kids will love the Splash Scape pool equipped with an in-​water playground as well as the Polywags pool which is perfectly suited for the little ones. We enjoyed soaking in the Upper Pool, an adult pool with infinity edges where we could sit back, relax and sip a cocktail. The Aqua Park is definitely THE place to hang to escape the Texas summer heat!
After a long, stressful day at the pool (did you catch my sarcasm?) we headed over to the Spa for a massage. The large windows at the front of this beautiful spa provide a wonderful view of the lake and hotel, as you can see by the photography. The Spa provides Massages, Facial Treatments, Wraps, Manicures, Pedicures, Salon Services, Men’s Haircuts and a Barber Service.
That evening, we got to try the wonderful sushi that other guests were raving about. Yoi Sushi at the La Torretta Resort has wonderful views from every section and the food is unbelievably good! The sushi was extremely fresh, the specialty cocktails were over the top, and so were the desserts.
Our stay at La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa was just what I needed. Sometimes, we Houstonians forget just how close Lake Conroe is to home. This beautiful area and, more importantly, relaxing resort, is the perfect weekend getaway — without all the travel time. A stay at this wonderful lake resort was exactly what the doctor ordered!

I will not return. We visited this past weekend for a night, to enjoy some pool time and relax with a few drinks. Based on the four star hotel rating, I expected quality equivalent to the Hyatt or Marriott. This was not even close.
When we arrived at the pool we were told they did not have mint at that bar (for a mojito) and to go to the other, so we did. They served the last bit of mint to the customers before us. It was only 2pm.
The pool bathrooms were not cleaned the entire day (and I know this because the same dirty cup was in there each time I went, and the floor was covered in pee and water consistently). Completely unacceptable for a «four star resort».
The lazy river also needs a bit of ambience, the entire thing was surrounded by dead grass or dirt.
The room didn’t have a hair dryer, so I called twice to get one, then 45 minutes later, they bring me one COVERED in nasty gummy stuff. The reason for the delay I was told was the maids were on break. (Why are they all on break at the same time?) The dryer, you would not touch it. I asked for a clean one and the lady looked at me crazy — like I was ridiculous.
Each time we asked a staff member a question, they could not answer us — consistently. Questions were what type of clothing is acceptable in that restaurant, or what restaurants are on the premises, or what type of food do they serve, what snacks do you have available at the pool? All unknowledgeable. Most didn’t even care to try to find out for us.
And to top it off; the sink didn’t drain, the mirror was broke, and the fridge didn’t cool.

First and foremost this wasn’t my hotel of choice. We were invited here for a family reunion. I must admit I was terrified to come here at first due to all the horrible reviews. I am 7 months pregnant and all the reviews of the AC not working freaked me out especially since we went in the middle of July when the heat was almost unbearable! We stayed for a total of 4 days and I will detail my experience below…
First Impression: Ok this doesn’t look so bad… looks pretty upon entering the resort. Valet was nice and cheap! $ 15 a day is nothing… try paying $ 47 a day now that’s crazy! They had self parking not sure about the cost but it was quite a hike and who wants to be dragging luggage when it’s over 100 degrees out! We bypassed the front desk as our room was paid for and my family already checked us in which was nice.
The Room: Pleasantly surprised! We got a suite overlooking the lake. It had a nice kitchenette with microwave, coffee maker and fridge. Living room was nice it had small couch and extra seating. The desk was useful as well. It was nice to have a separate place to hang out especially if you are traveling with two little kids like us. My kids loved coloring and watching tv in the living room and I got to hang out in the room alone and watch my own tv. The bedroom was clean but small. Just two double beds which are tiny… my 8 year old and i had to share one bed and it was tight. The provided a crib which worked out fine. The bathroom was quite large with a nice shower with awesome water pressure and a separate soaking tub great for kids! The lighting was a bit dark and dreary but it was fine. Beds were comfortable and they provided a lot of pillows as well. The AC worked… woohoo! We had it on the entire time we were there. FYI the sun in very strong in the morning use your drapes and keep them closed! This will keep your room cooler and DO NOT leave the sliding doors open bugs will fly in. Other people in our party complained that their AC wasn’t good enough but i’m sure they didn’t keep the drapes closed like i did… it helps!
The Pools: These are supposed to be the highlight of the resort. There are 3 pools… one waterpark, one for the water slides and one main family pool with a separate area on top for adults only. We hung out at the family pool most of our time. For the most part the pools were ok. At times they were cloudy and too warm. When it’s so hot out you want to be in cooler water not like a warm bath. The pool at the waterslides seem to have the coolest temp. My kids loved the water slides and wasn’t at all interested in the water park which I was surprised. There are a lot of chairs but not many under shaded awnings. We got up early to claim good seats. Pool service at the pool was almost non existent… had to really look for someone to get food and drinks. The hot dogs though were really good and the fries too! The had a healthy option of hummus and veggies which was nice.
The Food: They have room service which is awesome. However it does take a while. We ordered breakfast one morning and it was good. Missing a few items that would be nice like salt pepper, ketchup, jam and milk for your coffee. So ask for these in advance if you need them. Other than room service there is only two other options for breakfast… the Café next to the gift shop which only had simple to go items like cereal, breakfast burrito, breakfast sandwich, oatmeal, bars etc. Prices were reasonable. Then the also had a breakfast buffet for around $ 20 which we didn’t try. I would suggest if you are staying for more than a couple days go to the Walmart down the street and pick up some fruit, cereal and milk and just have breakfast in your room to save time and money. Lunch everyday we ate the pool. Dinner we went to restaurant 157. Every night we seemed to be the only party dining there. It was buffet style i think around $ 23 pp… and kids eat free. Service was good but the AC was broken both nights and it was muggy and hot inside! Food is all around very average here… do not expect a gourmet meal that will blow your socks off.
Service: Just OK… don’t expect much from anyone and you won’t be disappointed. They seem to hire a lot of inexperienced college students. Housekeeping didn’t speak much English and often times came very late. You can’t get a hold of anyone it seems when trying to make a request. They do offer text message requests which was very helpful.
Overall, I think if you come here without high expectations you won’t be too disappointed. On another note I would not return or recommend this place to any of my friends.

4 stars… Only because I was here for a work conference. It was awesome and atmosphere was very nice. The set ups and food was excellent as well as the suites… Very nice!
Only advice I have is for the staff… Please learn the areas and if you aren’t sure, get a walkie talkie system set up so you can easily find out for guests. Several times we were walking around looking for which area we were going to be in because the map was a bit unclear. Other than that, great venue!

Please keep in mind this resort is old. So don’t expect new & grand but good & clean & you will be pleased. I could have given it 3 stars but decided against it.
All my customer service interactions were wonderful! From check in, to check out, everyone was very nice & prompt.
The pools are nice! The lazy river is older, very narrow & warm but fun. My 3 yr old loves it. The kids area is awesome! My 1 yr old loves it. Only bad part it the ground is very textured so if your kids fall they will get very scratched up
The food overall was not very good. The buffet looked & smelled bad so we left. The Lakeside was ok. The café was weird. Worst latte I have ever experienced. Also they close early so the only course for quick food is only available until 2pm. No bueno.
The rooms are large & very clean. The AC was cool & had a great hum to it for sleeping!
All in all we do recommend this place & we would come back!

From the rude hotel staff at check in, to the luke warm pools, to the uncomfortable bed with ACs that do not cool. Nothing refreshing or relaxing about this resort. You can not even rely on staff to address issues.
I also reserved my room two months in advance, upon check in had the wrong room reserved as well as had to wait two hours in lobby for correct room to be ready.
Doesn’t even merit one star.

Very poor service and management, as many other reviews have already indicated.
The resort staff had the attitude of what some would call «Debbie Downers.» No one was rude, but several were quick to point out the negative in each given situation. I may be misconstruing this for shear laziness.
We stayed at the resort for a work convention. I would never choose to stay here for leisurely purposes.

We had fun here. Lots to do for families. The pool area is great. Easy walk to all amenities. Pretty setting. Enjoyed the s’mores on the beach, paddle boards, coco grove grill, piano bar. So much to choose from.
We stayed in the villas. Trash cans way too small. Had to pay and ask for microwave. TV was broken but fixed immediately. Old sofa. Super nice staff. Very nice bedrooms and bath. Lake 157 buffet not so good…

Considering the main attraction is the on-​site water park and lazy river, the water was so chilly that nobody was bold enough to enter. The «heated» pool was slightly warmer.
The food was horrible but luckily there are nearby restaurants should you decide to venture out.
I enjoyed the spacious cottages which included parking right out front.

I enjoyed our stay. We have been here a couple times and this last time we had a group on so we said WHY NOT!!!
We came on a Saturday and spent the day at the pool most of the afternoon. We had never been down the slide so we got to enjoy that as well. What a blast! It’s kid and adult friendly. If the waiters at the pool don’t come and take your order at first, just ask them whenever they pass you!
We stayed in a cottage and it was about a 5 minute walk to the main part of the resort. No big deal. For dinner, we ventured out to a off site restaurant which was delicious. See other review for that. Playa Azul is name.
The next morning we got brunch at Restaurant 157. Here’s why it goes from 5 stars to 4 stars. The wait staff is inattentive. Yes, it is buffet so they don’t need to do much except provide you with refills on coffee/​juice/​water/​etc. They were so horrible at this! I ended up just getting up myself and going to get more water and coffee. I’m sure they hated me when they saw me do this but after waiting forever to get a refill, I figured I should just get up and do it myself. It’s not like they were swamped in the restaurant!
