Auto Connection

We bought a 2005 Corvette and after $ 3000 in repairs immediately, sure wish we would have taken it to be inspected before purchase! Also, wish they would have offered that it was a repossession!

Dishonest at best. They told me the car was «perfect», and it looked that way per the pictures. Shame on me for not getting an inspection and just buying the car and shipping it. When the car arrived on the truck at my house (and this was a late model, 2010, Mercedes) I saw:
overspray on the door handle
broken door speakers
bowed door liner
door trim had been replaced
Obviously the car had been hit, and this dealer neglected to tell me! They claimed ignorance, then said the auto transporter must have done it! Yeah, sure, the trucker wrecked the door, stopped somewhere, spent his own money to have all the repair done, and the repairs were done so poorly you could see overspray, and then he put it back on the truck and dropped it to me!
The story goes on, but I won’t bore you. You get the point. Stay away from these guys.
And, when buying a Mercedes, get the VMI (Vehicle Master Inquiry) from a dealer, which shows all repair history out of the Mercedes Service Database. It may show damage no one else is willing to report.

These guys are the definition of Used Car Salesman, shady and do not value customer service. I had a bad experience with them which has taught me two things: never buy a car over the internet w/​o first seeing it in person, and never ever buy a car from Auto Connection.
Story goes: I found the luxury sedan on the internet from Auto Connection. The pics were fairly good quality, described as «excellent and immaculate condition». I contacted the sales rep (Lee was his name) and after several ph conversations over the course of 2 wks we reached a verbal agreement on a price and set up a date for my arrival. I had the bank check Fed-Ex’d to them to let them know I was serious.
I show up after a 16hr drive to find my sales rep not present — — he’s gone fishing (WTF?) A customer drives 16hrs for a likely firm sale but catching large mouth bass takes priority? Now remember — the car was described as «excellent and immaculate condition w/​4 brand new tires». I’m also expecting the car to be detailed, gassed up, and ready to be driven off the lot. Instead I find the car dirty, full of dog hair on the seats and carpet, and the front hood has several small dings and scratches (lie #1). Oh wait — — it gets better.
While test driving it I see the steering wheel is at 1 o’clock and the car pulls to the right — — that’s an alignment /​suspension issue. I drive it back and ask the sales guy what’s up — — his response: «No way, I just took it out for a spin today and I didn’t notice anything, it was fine to me» (lie #2). I asked about the dog hair… he says the owner’s wife has 2 poodles and recently drove it. I can tell he’s getting impatient — — he finally tells me that he wants to get the paperwork done asap so he can go watch the Alabama game. WTF?
I then take it to a local alignment shop who lifts the car up and finds that this car is NOT in excellent condition:
1. I need to replace both front tires because they are cuffing and could blow anytime — the car is not safe to drive back home as is.
2. The car has definitely been in an accident because the front left rim is slightly bent, there’s evidence of minor body work, and the front left panel has been replaced. Ironically the Car Fax I got from Auto Connection said the car was clean and clear and accident free (WTF?).
3. The car needs a 4 wheel alignment.
4. Total damages estimated: $ 800+
I head back w/​these estimates and ask them to either pay for these damages or take the $ 800 off, they outright refuse. The salesguy conferences in Lee (fishing) and the GM and proceed to engage into a bidding war back and forth. We finally reach an agreement at which I was able to summarize what these clowns have been doing for the past 2 weeks: they got the car, had their way with it, never cleaned up after themselves, and then handed it off to me. Real professional.
After the conference call the sales guy (Mr. Bama) is angry with me for negotiating more $$ off of the car and lets me know he’s pissed off and gives me a hard time while I’m signing the papers. He also refuses to give me the title (not good) and says he will mail it to me.
A week goes by and still no title, so I call him back — –the guy literally yells at me on the ph (still upset) and says he’ll send the title whenever he pleases. WTF? I have to threaten him w/​my bank calling him since there is a lien, at which he then calls me back immediately to apologize (wow) and sends me the title. Bipolar, maybe (I wondered)? End of story.
I continue to have alignment issues with this sedan and paid for an extensive diagnosis which found that there is uni-​body frame damage to this car — — that means it was in an accident and that’s a $ 2K+ job, and if I don’t fix it the car will continue to have problems. I wouldn’t trust these guys with my own family — much less the cars they are selling to you. But if shady salesmanship, unprofessionalism, dishonesty, and unethical business practices are your thing — — then by all means Auto Connection is your place.
