Seaside Superbikes

I dropped by last week. Mike is awesome to deal with. I have a Ducati Scrambler, and he did a quick service on it while I waited. Real honest and professional guy. I would recommend him to anybody.

Fast, fair, and took great care of my bike. On vacation from Oakland, must have picked up a shard of glass or something on the highway, the rear tire on my Ducati 821 Hypermotard leaked slow overnight. I called them at 2pm when I saw the bike and I needed to leave to get back north. They accommodated me in a pinch and had me back on the road by 3:30pm. The tire price was matched to a large online retailer and work rate was very competitive.
Every other shop said I would have to wait 1 – 3 days. They also noticed little things that needed better attention and gave me maintenance tips on things I overlooked. I definitely saved face with my girlfriend riding 2-​up. Also, I saw them working on everything from Yamaha R1M to a rusted old Honda scrambler thing. They will track-​prep your ride to pro standards and treat you with the highest respect regardless of what you ride. They get top marks from me.

Mike the owner jumps around like a flea, he says one thing then 5 seconds later says a complete reversal of his previous statement… Makes me nervous, I asked about his certificates or training to work on motorcycles & he has none, nor does his mechanic on staff… for the price he wanted to charge & the procedure he told me I needed (with his infinite racing knowledge), I decided to try the dealer before I committed to anything.
Im sure glad I did, cause it turned out that just because you Race, doesn’t make you Honest or Knowledgeable about motorcycles… Mike at Seaside Superbikes told me I needed an overpriced (double internet cost) lowering kit for my bike to get my feet on the ground, I had just purchased bike used & i was on tip toes… Dealer found, after asking me a few questions, that Shock & Fork springs were at full stiff, the adjusters on both were screwed down all the way, which would be the setting for much heavier rider, for me at 135lbs it made the bike too tall & i was unable to reach the ground comfortably… Dealer commented that this should have been the FIRST THING TO CHECK! for any competent mechanic, the mechanic adjusted this setting to my weight, while I sat on the bike & didn’t even charge me for the Service, I gave the mechanic $ 20 anyway…

Mike is by far the most professional and down-​to-​earth person I’ve come across in regards to motorcycles. After dropping my bike, my insurance company was giving me an unusually low amount for my claim. When they gave me the option to choose my own repair shop, I decided to go with Mike’s shop. Luckily for me, this choice was by far the best.
After the bike came off the tow truck, Mike was immediately able to assess the damage as being double the dollar amount the insurance agent tried to give me. He caught very critical parts that was overlooked by the insurance company. After my insurance company cut me a new check, the shop ordered every part needed. A short time thereafter, the bike was ready to go.
Their work is nothing short of a miracle. My motorcycle looked like nothing happened at all. There are not enough words I can say to justify the time and labor they put making sure the customer is satisfied. On top of that, he replaced the oil and gave the bike a brand new shine. Before I knew it, I was on the road again with not even the slightest of problems.
If you are looking for any work on your motorcycle, look no further! This shop’s service is the best.

Mike is down to earth and will take the time to explain and re-​explain things in detail to you even if you’re the clueless type like me. His rates cant be beat and are extremely fair. He strikes you immediately as a person of integrity and honestly and is easy to deal with. He cares about his business and customers and you can see it plain as day. I had him work on a motorcycle that was doomed and he explained to me why I should not put more money into it even though some others may have just told me the problems and let me put a lot more money into it and their pockets. He has been storing and taking care of my Kawasaki 650R 2012 since December 8^th 2013 while i’m overseas in New Zealand and I know it couldn’t be in better hands. Mike Martin and his team are the best mechanics around! I mean awesome! You could not pay me to go anywhere else!
If you talk to anyone who owns a bike and has been to Seaside Superbikes they will tell you the same!
Don’t waste your time going anywhere else! if you are not at seaside superbikes, you really are spending too much and wasting your time!
Mike also races and can prep your bike for the track

Been doing business with SSB for a number of years. The owner, Mike, is very well versed in the service of motorcycles — especially the Yamaha R1. He has consistently expanded his business and shop in order to provide customers more services and products.
One thing I like about doing business with this shop is that Mike races on the track and also is an instructor with a local riding school that does track days; this means his information and knowledge tends to come from practical racing experience. One just needs to stop by his shop and take a look at his Yamaha track bikes to see that he’s serious about street and super bikes.
Prices for parts are usually pretty decent and service is typically very good. I’ve had them change tires and balance them. They have also given me pointers which have helped me improve my bike as well as riding on the street.
This shop is also probably one of the very few in the area that is qualified to rebuild R1 and R6 motors and gear boxes.

I have been riding for 9 years, I have had 4 sport bikes, a pocket bike and now own a Kawasaki 6363 and a small 50cc dirt bike for my daughter. My ex husband use to work on the bikes which was ok and I have fiddled with minor upgrades (exhaust/​headers, power commander and oil changes). Mike Martin and his team there are by far the best! I have towed my bikes up to San Jose, Santa Cruz, Scotts Valley, Salinas, Watsonville and other places in Monterey. By far Mike has competitive pricing along with endless amounts of knowledge. He really has helped me out with everything there and my bikes will be lifetime clients of his. I know that when I ride and my daughter rides we are safe. No one beats Seaside Superbikes!

I recently had a rear tire replaced here for my Honda Rebel 250 and was very pleased with the speedy service and friendly attitude. I brought my bike by and barely had time to get into my book before it was finished, and the cost was less than I thought it would be. I don’t recall the name of the man I worked with but he was really nice. They did a few extra little things at no added cost and I was really grateful. Thanks a lot – I’ll be returning when I need help again :-)

Awesome! Those mechanics sure are friendly. Schooled me on all the dumb stuff I did to my bike and fixed her up quickly and affordably. Yay!

Mike, the owner, is professional and very helpful. These guys delivered more than I even asked for — with a rapid yet thorough and informative inspection, customized repair work (fixing what I needed fixed and not more) — and they even detailed my bike when they were finished! I was very happy, and my schedule was quickly freed up to ride. Thanks again!

Mike, the proprietor, was very helpful. The man came out to tow my bike within ½ hour or so of my calling despite his shop being busy. My bike was ready in no time and charges were very reasonable.

We were in Monterey for Moto GP race weekend. I had ridden my Honda VFR 800 from Austin Texas to Monterey for the races (2200 miles). Upon arriving here in Monterey area I realized my chain was shot, and probably the sprockets. So I called the only motorcycle shop taking phone calls on a Monday morning.
Mike, the owner, answered and told me to come by that morning. I went by, they diagnosed the bad chain and confirmed that the sprockets were still in perfect condition. They then ordered the appropriate chain, one made for long distance touring, and had it sent first priority morning delivery on Tuesday. I had a call from Mike at 9:30 that my parts were in and I should drop the bike for the chain swap.
The shop looks like that of a motorcycle surgeon more than a dirty old scooter shop.
And to me that is always a good sign. Also a good sign, lots of race bikes sitting in the shop waiting to be tuned.
While waiting I asked if he could suggest a breakfast place. Not only did he suggest a place, but drove us there and offered to pick us up.
This is the kind of quality craftsmanship, pride in work quality and customer service that every business should strive to accomplish.
I highly recommend this shop for any motorcycle tuning or repair work.
Big Thanks to Mike and Bryce for getting us back on the highway headed home on a safe and reliable new chain.

I have to say Mike is a straight shooter. My Son is in the market for a used bike (his first), Mike carefully explained the upkeep costs associated with owning a bike. My Son was quite surprised to learn that tires need to be replaced every 3,000 miles,(something he hadn’t factored in). Bottom line… Mike wants the kid to enjoy his bike, and be a responsible owner. When he is ready, we will have Mike start looking for right bike, WE won’t be going anywhere else!

Mike the owner is a rude, mean, double talking human. I am ashamed I recommended others to him. He says one price, charges another. He was rude which is not good customer service.
BEWARE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

Seaside superbike is a good local shop, Mike, the owner, showed great attention to detail, as well as offering solid advice to customers on best practices.
He showed great attention to detail and care for my tires and rims, he even saved the tube (sometimes its a crap shoot if your tube lives on bikes).
Furthermore, he will come pick your bike up if thats what you need.
His rates are reasonable, and he is a nice guy, even if we disagree about Hondas.

I’m new to the Monterey area and was happy to find Seaside Superbikes. Most mechanics are either skilled and run a sketchy business or the other way around. SSB (for those who know to call it that) is both. The owner and Master Mechanic is highly skilled, organized, personal and really passionate about your bike. He even gave me a discount on an SSB hoodie that is now my new favorite. Thanks Mike Ill be referring you to everyone.
