NSA Monterey Child Development Center

We have had the pleasure of sending our son to the Monterey CDC for about 6 months now. We will be crushed when we PCS and leave. CDCs can vary from location to location but I have to say the Monterey CDC is a supremely well run facility and we LOVE sending our son there; more importantly-​HE loves it! The director is very knowledgeable of her staff and the children attending. The teachers are WONDERFUL-​I cannot say enough good things about them. We’ve experienced numerous preschools throughout the years being in the military and this has by far been the best. By far.
Pros: the staff: they are caring, conscientious, and diligent. They get to know and care for your child daily, work with them on their challenges (we have a two year old), and always keeps us in the loop on how his day went. It truly feels like a partnership to provide our child with the best care possible and I love that. I feel 110% confident in his care each morning at drop off, and that is only further reinforced when I pick him up in the afternoon. My son lights up when he sees any of the staff, from the front desk, the teachers, the leaders, the director-​they know him and he knows them and it is terrific to know they genuinely care for your child. The meals they serve are balanced and for our son, they were served family style, which I love-​it helps the younger kids with their coordination, table manners, social skills and feeding confidence! The facility is sparkling-​it is clean, well organized and well stocked with many educational toys. The hours are perfect for working parents and you have the flexibility of going for less hours if that fits your family better. Price: in this area, you will not find a better option for the price-​in my opinion the CDC is worth twice as much-​that is the value they provide.
Cons: I honestly cannot think of any as we have had a fantastic time here. The only con I suppose would be if you only planned on sending your child for a few days a week for a few hours-​then it may be more than you would like to spend as the cost covers full 5 day care. But That is the only negative I can think of and that is entirely individual.
I felt compelled to write this as we truly do appreciate this fantastic childcare facility and it’s staff. They are the best, they provide a safe, caring and encouraging learning environment. We are lucky we were able to send our child here.

We have been nothing but pleased with this facility. Previous reviews were bad based on the process to get in, which is pretty much beyond their control and for the benefit and safety of the children attending… as well as state/​federal regulation of number of kids that can be in classes.
We got on the list about 3 months before we arrives and both children were accepted over the summer when lots of turn-​over occurs. There is priority to those with two working parents or one working one looking for work or single parent. As there should be. It may be frustrating if your child can’t attend, but the process is clearly laid out or explained if you call.
The front desk staff is knowledgeable and has overall been great.
The room staff is also nice and keeps us informed.
They also offer twice a month «date nights» from 6 – 10 and they will watch your kids for $ 4/​per hour/​per child. We routinely take advantage of this service, being able to go out alone and have both kids watched for maximum of $ 32 is wonderful!

After my kid was able to attend this CDC I can reverse my original stance of a poor review. What I discovered was the CDC staff is wonderful. What I grew angry about was the process for getting my kids in. Once I realized this was due to the large population in the area I now understand why it takes so long. If you take the entry part away, the CDC is a wonderful daycare.
