I specialize in minimally invasive joint replacement surgery of the hip and knee. I perform the anterior approach for hip replacements and computer assisted surgery for both partial and total knee replacements. I work with a team of non-​operative joint care specialists to help my patients who require rehabilitation instead of surgical intervention.

I recently had a hip replacement performed by Dr. Meckel. I cannot say enough about him and the way things were done. I was so impressed by the level of education he provided prior to the surgery. He gave a class for all of the patients who were scheduled for the following month. Questions were encouraged. Every single facet of what was to take place was covered… from preoperatively thru to the followup care. I have had 2 previous joint replacement surgeries and only basic information was provided. I will be undergoing another joint replacement early in 2014 by Dr. Meckel

This review is strictly for my first meeting with Dr. Meckel. The office was professional, and my wait wasn’t too long. Dr Meckel was friendly and asked me why I wanted a knee replacement. After x-​rays were taken, he spent a generous amount of his time answering all of my questions. He was patient and I walked out with a wealth of information. I’ll do a little more research, but my gut feeling is I will use him. Yes, I’ve heard of great surgeons who are in the Bay Area, but I got to thinking… what a pain it would be to have to drive 4 hours round-​trip for checkups. I think I’ll stay local.
