History

Established in 2005.

Owner Mitsuko G. started Cha-ya when she could not find good Japanese green tea anywhere. She also wanted to share her passion of Japanese culture with the community. She opened the tea store, combined with the retail, in order to do just that. With 10 years in business, Mitsuko has established a rare gem in downtown Monterey where customers can enjoy delicious Japanese teas, find one-of-a-kind gift items and browse in a serene atmosphere.
