I got married September 6 at Monastery Beach in Carmel. I live in the east bay area and found Art’s great reviews on Unilocal and decided to contact him to do my hair and my bridesmaid’s hair. I asked him if he would be willing to come to my hotel and he said yes! That was so helpful!!! We never got to meet or practice until the wedding day! He had an incredible vibe and I instantly liked him! Great personality! He was very professional and our hair was incredible! I had a gardenia for my hair and wasn’t sure what to do with it and he worked his magic and made me look awesome! Thank you Art for all you do! I would highly recommend him for any event!

Oh my where to start…
I recently got married up in Monterrey and unlike most wedding planning I did not get to meet people prior to the big week ²⁄₂ my job. However I couldn’t have been in better hands. I met up with Art the day before for my hair to be done for rehearsal… it turned out amazing and I dont have the easiest of hair to work with… thin, partially curly, frizzy, and falls flat in a jiffy. Then came the big day and it came out better then I could have wished and looked amazing and exactly how I dreamed!
This guy is a gem!!! I wish I lived close so he could cut my hair as well! I highly highly recommend him for any event and would probably guess that he is just as amazing at everyday stuff.
If your getting married or have an event look no further as this is the man you need to go to!!!

Art is incredible on so many levels.
His skills are unmatched and spirit is just sparkling. I trusted him with my impossible tresses for my biggest day… my wedding day. He was a complete professional and worked with me and upwards of 7 bridesmaids the morning of the wedding, and he and his partner did a stunning job with all of us. I have to say, however, that my hair was the best. Knowing I would be getting married on Pfeiffer Beach, I knew I wanted my super-​long, super-​fine, tangle-​prone hair up and out of my face, just in case it was a little breezy. Breezy? When we got there it was like a hurricane. Tents were flying away. Flowers in my bouquet were snapping and falling off. It was hard to walk against the wind, it was so intense… But my hair was perfect. PERFECT.
Art’s style lasted through
1) the gale-​force winds during my ceremony,
2) putting on and taking off of the flowers in my hair (which snapped in the wind)
3) putting on and taking off the veil (which had a comb, not velcro),
4) through all my jumping around and crazy dancing at the reception and after-​party,
5) sleeping on it over night on it.
The only touch-​ups I needed took a little water on my fingers to recollect a few loose fly-​aways tousled by the wind at the ceremony. That’s it.
I posted photos from my «Trash the Dress» session the day after the wedding as proof. Seriously, this man knows what he is doing.

Art did my hair for my wedding. He was so accommodating (came up to my husband’s uncle’s house where I was getting ready) and everyone gave me tons of compliments on my hair. It really looked fabulous! Art was also so nice and responsive through the whole process and really worked together with me to figure out a look that worked. Thank you Art, you’re the best!

Art was so great! He did my hair for my wedding. He was willing to come to my hotel room to do my hair. He made my hair look better than I ever thought it could look, and all day people told me how great it was. He also gave some tips to the bridesmaids since they were doing their own hair. He is a great guy and is a great hair stylist. It may seem like a lot to pay to get your hair done, but he is totally worth it, he was wonderful. I really loved my experience with Art, and if he didn’t have to run off to do another girls hair I would have invited him to my wedding! I would recommend him to anyone getting married in the Monterey area.

I’ve been going to Art for 6 years and he has worked with me during short hair periods and long hair periods, always giving me the cut I want, in a shape that works for my face and hair type. But one of the best things that he has done for me is the Brazilian Blow Out. I have had it done 3 times and the first one lasted 9 months, the second one lasted 10 months, and the third one almost a year! Art does not skimp on products or time and leaves my hair so silky and smooth — and it stays that way for a long time. I have friends who have done the Braz Blow Out and need to get it done again just 3 – 4 months later. If you are thinking about having your hair straightened and silky soft, then I would recommend Art as the best person to go to in Monterey. You will not regret it.

I’ve never written a Unilocal review, but for the first time ever, I want to share my extremely positive experience and hope that this review will help all the brides-​to-​be out there in finding the perfect hair stylist — Art Dominguez! I just got married in Monterey over the July 4^th weekend. Since I’m from San Francisco, I wasn’t sure how I was going to find a hair stylist who was able to give me the style that I wanted. When I had my 1^st trial with Art, I was immediately satisfied with the look he gave me. At the time, I didn’t really know exactly what I wanted, but I liked the look Art gave me and felt confident that he’d give me the perfect style on my wedding day. As months went by since my 1^st trial, I decided to go for a slightly different look — a low, loose bun. something subtle but romantic and elegant. I emailed Art about this, and he said that he’d make it happen. Of course, Art made it happen and delivered beautifully on the day of my wedding. Both he and Ignacio (the makeup artist) made me feel absolutely beautiful. In addition, Art did my sister’s hair, my niece’s and my mom’s hair. All of them were extremely happy with Art (and allow me to add that my sister is hard to please. and mom is quite critical. but they both loved the hair and makeup). I felt prettier & taller that day because Art made me feel beautiful inside and out. I hope all the brides-​to –be will get the opportunity to work with Art. He is truly awesome. Thank you, Art!

Art was recommended through another stylist. I was so happy he had the time to schedule me in. He styled and made me look so beautiful for my wedding in March. He came on site and was so easy going and helpful on my busy day! He also assisted my Mom and all my wedding party. Overall 100% satisfied and love all my pics throughout the night. My hair was up and eloquent. And I like Art so much that I come back to him every time now!!! Awesome guy, great stories and the funniest story about Mr. Beans the dog!

Art is the best colorist and hair stylist I have ever been to. He always changes me for the better. And he is so much fun to spend time with. I highly recommend him for all your hair services. And especially for brides so they can look amazing on their wedding day.

Art has kept my hair looking ship-​shape for the past five years, with monthly visits for just-​right hair coloring. Art is a master colorist, the best I have found, perhaps because he is also a very talented painter. And I’m pleased that he uses non-​toxic chemicals, which he himself demands because of his allergies/​sensitivities — no weird smells, no itchy scalp, etc.
The Venus Salon has a whole block-​size parking lot directly in front (off Munras or Abrego) so parking is a breeze. Better yet, Venus is next door to my favorite pastry/​latte shop — Parker Lusseau!

Art is awesome! He came all the way to Menlo Park to do my best friend’s hair for her wedding day, along with a few of us bridesmaids and the mother of the bride’s hair. He did such a great job. He has such great energy and was extremely efficient… all of our hair looked fabulous and stayed put for the duration of the wedding (which I might add was an extremely long time… my hair remained in tact from 11am until 3:30am the following morning… yes, the party went that long!). The bride’s hair looked gorgeous! It was absolutely perfect and was exactly the look she envisioned. She felt like a princess… as she should on her wedding day! She received tons of compliments (as did the bridal party and the mother of the bride). I would recommend Art to anyone in a heartbeat, especially to those looking to get that perfect look for a big event or special moment in their life. Art will keep you smiling, laughing and totally relaxed… you will walk away feeling like a whole new person, I promise. Thanks Art!
