Higa’s Automatic Transmission

You really can’t go wrong here at Higa’s. My grandfather started coming here when Gene’s father was in charge. I can’t even remember the year anymore but it was long before I was born. My first adult experience with Higa’s was when my tranny went out while driving from LA to Reno to go back to school. My grandfather payed for the car to be towed from Bakersfield, where I broke down to Montebello. The place in Bakersfield did the transmission but I broke down about 30mins into my trip. My second experience with Higa’s was on my Mazda. I let my sister borrow it while I left town for work for six months to Utah and low and behold she wrecked the tranny. Gene was honest and open with me about the problem and told me he would do his best to get the problem solved. He doesn’t rip off his clients and he cares about us. You can feel it. My grandfather, RIP, really enjoyed Gene and his father and never said a bad thing about them. I highly recommend that you use Higa’s if you ever have any issues.

Gene is the best; he is honest, fair and his customer service is exceptional. I recommend his services to anyone who needs their transmission fixed.

Wow Gene is a true transmission specialist!
I called a couple of shops looking for a O ring for a Th350.
The other shops said, oh sorry you have to by the whole gasket and seal kit $ 50 plus.
Gene was a life saver and sold me the individual O ring at a rock bottom price and the big plus was that he gave me a few pointers to install it.

Gene is the BEST MECHANIC EVER! Higa’s was the best transmission repair shop before I was born and is STILL the best Transmission repair shop around. I have known Gene since I was a little girl and trust him and his expertise so much that I consult with Gene each time I buy a new car. Gene has repaired all of my family and friends transmission– Friends travel from Westlake Village, Malibu, Beverly Hills, Covina, Whittier, Upland and even Las Vegas!!! What prompted me to write the review today?
1) Gene is really worth knowing about if you need Transmission work;
2) Gene has been so good to my family and friends, I want to thank him out by telling you how great he is;
3) I was sitting at the Mercedes Dealer today and overheard a mechanic tell a customer to «try taking the car to Higa’s Transmission because this is difficult and expensive problem. I not sure we really fix it for you but he-​Gene– he fix it and he is very very honest. If it can no be fixed he tell you. If you leave it here with me, I must call Gene for help but we cost more.»
Bottom line– if you have a transmission issue, Call Gene!
TIP: If Gene does not answer the phone, do not worry, drive down there– he is ALWAYS there!!! If the gate is closed (rare), pull up anyways, he will come let you in. Gene is so dedicated to his work, you will find him working on cars day and night, 7 days a week. Higas is always FULL of cars, but he will get your car back to you in no time!

For U-​Haul Services:
I was looking for a moving truck company and after making a few calculation, I decided that this company would be the most convenient choice. To start off, Gene was very friendly. He gave me a quote over the phone and explained a few things. I was able to reserve the truck over the phone. Other companies don’t guarantee that the truck will be available even if you have a reservation. And another things that I liked was that the price online was the same as calling or going into the office. No tricks, just straight forward.
We got the 20′ truck for $ 39.95 plus $ 0.99 per mile. The insurance (which is optional) was only $ 14.00. We also got the dolly for $ 10.00 which was cheaper compare to some other places that wanted to charge us $ 15.00 to $ 20.00.
Gene was awesome, reasonable, and friendly. The truck was drop off at night and there were no surprises on my credit card statement. I returned the truck in the same manner as it was rented. I will definitely do business with them again ;)

Gene is a great mechanic. He prices fairly for the quality of work done. If you want a family owned mechanic that is honest then go there. Some places might be cheaper but then again it’s most likely not quality work.
