Rock Paper Scissors

I was in the shopping plaza and decided to check it out, it’s definitely a cute store with a homey feeling, cespecially comparing it to large chain stores where I have frequented. It may be small but it’s in a location not close to many chains, so it’s great that it’s close to me and for a Saturday afternoon it wasn’t crowded, so if you want more personalized service or enjoy a short line, this has that benefit.
My only problem was things weren’t very well marked. I was looking to get a new ink pen and there were a few brands and no prices, so it took three to the register to price check. This doesn’t seem ideal for e cashier or customer. It’s also probsbly around the same price as larger stores but those stores offer coupons. So I think the balance in going to this local store are more helpful, knowledgable employees with less crowd hassle but the balance is you might not score big savings either.

Awesome staff and wide selection of fabrics. Went in with an obscure project idea for a huge ottoman-​like floor pillow. The women there helped me not only come up with some great pattern options but also recommended an awesome custom foam filler place to visit. The pillow turned out PERFECTLY, all because the staff too the time to invest in me and my looney idea.

Service has declined. Just your typical jersey snobbiness. People working here ignore you completely and talk to themselves and make you feel bad for interrupting them with a question. Not worth it; especially at those prices!

I took my sewing machine in to be repaired and was told it would take a week. No problem. The day I am to pick up the machine, Lou calls and says my machine needs a need part (this was already obvious), asking if I wanted to get it or if he should, and that I owed him $ 80. The machine is still broken, so I picked it up and now am waiting for the part to replace it myself. Complete ripoff and now a wasted week just to be told something that was already obvious.
Don’t waste the week! Go somewhere else!

Absolutely wonderful store in an ideal location.
Staff is out of this world friendly, and helpful. Always full of suggestions when needed. The fabric selection is also reflective of a wide range of customers for all needs and they even offer classes for people of all ages!

There is simply no other store like RPS! The owner, Beth, is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Kourtney, Aubrey, Emma, and Soph are also extremely helpful. Anytime I go there are so many wonderful fabrics that I have a hard time making a decision and these ladies have always been ready to help (not to mention they have a great eye). This store is not just for sewists! If you are into scrapbooking, jewelry making, embroidery, or other general crafts, RPS has everything you need. This is my favorite place to visit.

This is a great shop with a lot of fabric in a relatively small place. The women who work there are nice and interested in your ideas and helping you find the perfect fabric. They have modern prints but that doesn’t mean you won’t find the perfect item for you quilt whether a modern pattern or regular block. They have a lot of classes as well that I haven’t been able to take yet and a quilt guild that meets there as well that I would love to get involved with. Just so very nice!

Love this place! Currently taking the beginner sewing class and I’m lovin it! The teacher, Melissa, is super helpful, patient, fun, and just great to be around. The actual store is SO cute but a bit pricey. The ladies who work there are very helpful and will walk/​talk you through whatever your project ideas are. I wish there was a pattern making class (i’m on the hunt for one). Overall a pleasant experience.

This shop is awesome! It is full of cool and quirky craft supplies and the service was great also. I went there to buy some fabric to reupholster the cushion on my home’s window seat and was not disappointed by their selection of high quality fabrics. I can’t wait to go back there! It is bit pricey I thought, but it is small, specialty store — if you want cheap craft options, go to Michael’s.

Such a cute and cheery shop! It’s so much fun to shop there. The owner Beth has a great eye for color and the store is well organized. It’s small but well stocked and it’s easy to spend hours browsing and putting things together for all kinds of crafty projects. I’m a quilter and can’t walk out without at least a fat quarter or two!

This is probably the best fabric store that I’ve ever been in in New Jersey. The selection of fabric is really great, and they have a lot of fun novelty prints. I usually seem to go there when Courtney is working, and she’s super friendly and knowledgeable. I also had Lou repair my Bernina, and he did a fantastic job, and the turnaround time was really fast. I have a really hard time controlling my impulse to buy in this store!!!

Really can’t recommend this place enough. The employees are super friendly and helpful, the workshops are fun, and the selection of fabrics (as well as other bits and bobs) is high-​quality and reasonably priced.
They also offer sewing machine repairs for all sorts of models. I brought my ’44 Singer in for a routine cleaning/​tuning for a very fair price of just about 45 $. The repairman, Lou, did a fantastic job. It looks and works just like new!

This store has wonderful craft supplies. They also offer classes for a variety of age groups. I have been dyng to take one of their classes on skirts. The people are knowledgeable and helpful and the products are reasonably priced. The owner brings in many new and current quilting fabric. She also hosts a quilting club at the store. The meetings are always crowded and people share their projects, which have given me some great ideas.

Heaven! Wish they had more apparel fabric but you can still make adorable pieces out of their selections. The staff is amazing. Have yet to take a class here but must do so soon.

Love this shop! For an older quilter who is getting into the new fabric designs, I was impressed with the fabric they have on the shelves! The store is really cheery & fun. The young woman who helped me couldn’t have been nicer or more enthusiastic! There was a class going on with children & they sounded like they were having a blast! I will def be going back for more fabric, despite living an hour away!

Happened into here by accident and was really impressed.
Good for quilters (which I am not) but also good for just basic crafters.
They carry organic fabric for those of you willing to pay the extra price. I might be mistaken but I believe they fix sewing machines here as well.

I’m really glad this store is around. They have a great selection of modern printed fabrics and paper supplies… stickers, stamps, cards at decent prices. They also have sewing machine tune-​up services which I think is awesome considering I always have something wrong with mine. Service is friendly and patient.

LOVE the organic fabric choices here — cottons mostly (maybe only cottons, actually), like Birch, Cloud9, etc… — with modern, colorful, and cute prints ideal for the baby accessories I am making. (Also beautifully printed oil cloth — I’m making changing pads…)
I also appreciated the clean and open layout of the store and the staff is wonderful — knowledgeable and kind. (I think their classes would be top notch, but I haven’t taken one yet, so… take that as you will…)
I would give it one more star if they had more notions (zippers, bias binding, threads, presser feet and gadgets) and some more solid knits, but truly, this is a gem — I will definitely be returning monthly if not weekly!
(BTW, I stayed clear of the scrap-​booking and jewelry areas because I had a strict budget and they looked way too cute to not purchase anything — good luck willpower!)

I’ve been dying to check this store out for a while and finally had a chance to make it over there.
NJ has a pretty sad scene when it comes to fabric, so I had really high hope this place would be good — since there is a huge need!
This store is definitely an amazing hobby & craft supply store. Really cute selection if you have kids who like to do crafts, or you are working on a decorating project for a kid’s room.
As the other reviewer mentioned, this place is set up by activity. Sewing selections seem to be really focused on quilting, decorating children’s rooms, or children’s attire. The selection of upholstery or decorating fabric was very slim, and what stock they did carry, they only had one or two yards of the fabrics. Most of the fabrics were cotton fabrics with pretty juvenile prints. I didn’t see must selection of notions (zippers, buttons, etc).
There are some supplies for scrapbooking & jewelry making (I’ve never done either, so I can’t say whether its good or not!).
They also have a huge selection of classes, which you can find on their website.
Overall, I was hoping for a different type of store, but for what it is, Rock Paper Scissors is a cute store, and a fun resource to the community!
(As a note, some mapping software gets the location totally wrong — put it in your GPS as 15 Bloomfield Ave in Glen Ridge, and you should be OK).
