I had worked in the garment industry in NYC with an extensive background in Sales, Merchandising and Buying. I had been consigning my clothing for years when I decided it was time to open my own shop and put my expertise to use. I am excited to be in our 4th year of having this wonderful boutique in Montclair Center. Recently I decided to extend our consignment boutique by buying brand new merchandise that is special as well as basic that looks and feels great! With this new addition to our boutique we are able to offer a wider selection of size for our clients. I love what I do and you know it from the moment you walk in. I train my staff to have the same passion as I do. We want you to feel comfortable in our store and we welcome you as if you are walking into our home. Experience shopping on a different and personal level with our staff.

So I get that this place is a higher end consignment boutique, but I think things are priced just a tad too high. Certain pieces literally can be bought retail for a mere 15−20% more, imho. Everyone is very nice and what lands on the floor clearly is tailored– it’s clear they just don’t take anything here. However, the look they’re going after is a bit one tracked and sometimes I think I’d like to find a bit more variety. The furniture section is very cute, tho!

One Savvy Design– being consignment– is hit or miss, which in this case is the appeal for me. I never know what gem I’m going to find. Over the years I’ve bought so many treasures, that are, literally, one of a kind. The satisfaction I get from swiping Chanel ballet flats from the shelf is amazing-​yes, I’ve found them there. It’s an ever revolving catalog of clothes that run from high end to casual, lower priced pieces. Vintage rings, funky beaded bracelets, assorted sunglasses, statement necklaces, Chanel flats, a Balenciaga bag, Frye boots, a funky Alice & Olivia leopard fur coat, blouses, shirts, sweaters… um, I’ve found it all there– and that’s just what I can remember off the top of my head.
Arlene, the owner, and her «girls» are ALWAYS, so kind and catering to me. I’ve brought one, or both of my children to the store on multiple occasions, and without batting an eye, they are welcoming to us. I don’t get that Arlene is pretentious– she clearly has a background in fashion, buying/​selling, knows her clientele, what will and will not sell. She’s discerning with what she puts on her shelves, and I appreciate that as a shopper. As a consignor, she’s passed on many an item, and that’s totally fine.
If you’re not into previously owned clothes, she ALSO carries a great variety of basic long and short sleeve tees, tanks, kimonos, chunky long and short sweaters.
AS IF CLOTHING WASN’T ENOUGH— SHE SELLS FURNITURE AND DECOR!!! Arlene found me the most perfect caddy cornered china cabinet, that literally looks as if it was made for my dining room. I would never have found it at that reasonable a price either.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this gem of a boutique!!!

Do NOT bring your high-​end merchandise there to sell on consignment. I brought my Christian Louboutin shoes that retail for $ 1,200 there to sell. They said they expected to sell the shoes for $ 600. Although I followed up with them several times, they told me not to be concerned because the shoes will sell (never mentioning that they were reducing the price drastically). On my last follow up call, I was told that the shoes were still there so I said I’d pick them up. Several hours later, I got a call back from them stating that the shoes had sold two weeks prior. They claimed they sold the shoes for only $ 274 and my share was $ 137!!! Unbelievable. You are better off selling items like high-​end shoes, handbags and apparel on sites like Tradesy, the RealReal or Bagborroworsteal. DON’T BRING YOUR MERCHANDISE THERE!

Not my favorite consignment shop in the area but it had an OK variety of things to choose from. I’m giving it 3 stars because I saw a couple of brands that don’t fit the «consignment shop» appeal — I could find these at a TJ Maxx (Anne Taylor, Banana Republic, etc…) But overall they had a couple of high end things to look at!

Get ready to find beautiful clothes, shoes, bags, accessories… furniture, for AMAZING PRICES and IMPECCABLE QUALITY AND STYLE! Arlene is fun, funky, and creative! She works hard to find clothes that match each customers style and size, will run all around her store looking for items that might work for you, and is shamelessly honest about styles that may not be good at all! It’s an incredibly personal and enjoyable experience because she spends time with you… unlike at a department store. All you have to do is keep trying on, until you find something you love!
She also carefully seeks furniture that she loves and gives it gorgeous touches that would make anyone want to redecorate their home! Lamps, chandeliers, tables, dressers, and more! STOP IN AND LOOK! You’ll see what I’m talking about. Honestly!

I really loved this store when I found it and purchased many pieces from them. I referred many people to them who bought a lot from them as well. However, when I returned to purchase more pieces, they were not accomodating. The female owner was very cut and dry and wasn’t very polite. This is discouraging to me considering I spent a great amount of money there and gave them many customers. Although I like the furniture they have, I will not be returning because I feel customer service is what is most important.

After searching everywhere for mid-​century modern dresser, I stumbled upon this gem of a store! I ended up buying my entire bedroom set: a long dresser, tall boy dresser and nightstand. I even purchased a cool vase! Everything was delivered in perfect condition and I still can’t find anything like what I purchased at one savvy design! Great customer service and one of a kind pieces make this the best vintage furniture shop! Also, their prices are much better than anywhere else. I receive so many compliments!

I can’t say enough about One Savvy Design. I stumbled upon the store about a year ago and it’s been my «go to» spot for designer clothes ever since. The owner, Arlene, has become my personal stylist and friend. I love visiting her and letting her help me feel beautiful. Arlene knows my body style and knows exactly what looks great on me. She pulls clothes for me so all I need to do is play dress up. I never leave One Savvy Design empty handed. I love my purchases and will continue to be a loyal customer for years to come. If you haven’t been to One Savvy Design — immediately stop reading this review and run… do not stop. You won’t be disappointed!!! :)

Danger! Every time I go in there, I spend money. Not too much money (sometimes) but there’s always something I want. Need!
This last time I went in asking if they had wrap dresses. Pffff! Of course they do. Two DVF dresses later I left content. I had a plan, went in there, and completely ignored the Celine handbag in the glass case. So pretty.
The staff is super helpful and remember you. Maybe not by name, but by purchase, little facts about your life, etc. They’re really on the ball with labels and sizing. They’ll also give you a heads up about new inventory or sales. The addition of their website was pretty awesome because you could preview stuff before going in. You can also buy online, but you’re doing yourself a disservice by not going to the shop.
While this is a consignment store, don’t get it twisted. It’s not a place with racks on racks of stuff you have to dust off and sift through. It’s organized like a boutique and easy to navigate. And they’re pretty picky about what they put on the floor, in terms of age and condition. It’s not a yard sale, indoors. It’s an appraiser who is fashion savvy and will let you know what’s what. Also if a piece isn’t quite fitting you right. Which is helpful if you go alone and are indecisive.
Go there if you know what you want and don’t pay retail for nothin’!

I’ve never been a regular ‘consignment shopper’ until I found One Savvy Design. They just have it all — wide variety of styles/​designers but all in truly, really great condition. Being a mom of two with limited time to shop, I often stop here first for whatever I’m looking for (even for an event) and I have yet to visit without leaving with something! Arlene (owner) is also just an incredible woman who is a pleasure to work with. I dare you to try and shop here without buying something, hah!

Wow, residents of Montclair. You guys have some nice stuff. One Savvy Design is a designer consignment store, and I’ve never left without buying something. Top brands in great shape at a deep discount. I try to stop in whenever I can because their stuff is constantly changing.
