Georgetown Custom Homes

My wife and I built a custom home in Chevy Chase with Georgetown Custom Homes, and Jamie Maloney. We started in October 2012 and the house was finished slightly early in July 2013. This was the 4^th house we have built over our lives. I do not have enough nice things to say about Jamie, who had a very bad motor vehicle accident during our project, but his team made sure that we didn’t skip a beat.
Every detail was first rate. My favorite example is the humidifier in the furnace. I called him after we went to contract to ask him to put in a humidifier, saying it was my nickel. He told me that he would never build a house without a humidifier, and that it would not be an extra charge. When the HVAC contractor put in the humidifier I had never seen one like it — so I looked it up on the manufacturer’s website. It was their top of the line model.
Because we lived in the area I frequently would go to the job site to see what was going on, and was always welcome. His foreman, Walter, kept the place immaculate — cleaning up debris every night.
We did make numerous changes and were never nickeled and dimed, in some cases I think he undercharged me for changes, like making the deck bigger.
During the year since we have moved in the numerous little things that one would expect would crop up were fixed quickly. He has a policy of having the painters back, at his expense, one year in to touch up anything that needs touching up.
I recommend him without reservation. I cannot imagine how the person who wrote the other review was talking about the same people.

Do not use Georgetown Custom Homes, GTCH or Jamie Maloney. We tried too and regret it. The architect we selected GTM in Bethesda warned us to be careful but we choose Jamie Maloney anyway. He will tell you he is a custom home builder. He is not. He will tell you he has built many homes. He has not. He will tell you his customers like the work. They do not. He will tell you anything. It is all a lie. Ask him to give you five happy customer names — including his five most recent. Ask him why his last two customers are suing him in Maryland court. He is an aggressive, compulsive liar that builds over priced and sub par spec homes. He takes from one job to pay another job. It is a house of cards and will tumble.
He has stolen a great deal of money from us. Be very careful. We are now initiating a large lawsuit in Maryland court against him. I am hopeful this will put him out of business and not enable him to do this to another family.
If you are thinking of buying his homes in chevy chase — do not. I would advise you to run — don’t walk the other way. I am hopeful that through our work with the AG in Maryland, the BBB and the courts he will finally be shut down.
