Snail’s Pace Running Store in Monrovia is an outstanding place to shop for your running and waking needs! Jenny Welch the store manager and her staff go the extra ‘3 miles’ to service you! Very knowledgeable & friendly staff who all run, Jenny Welch is a champion ultramarathoner herself will guide you to the correct running shoes and gear you will need. The store has an excellent selection of running gear, clothing, hydration packs, great training advice and more! Snail’s Pace of Monrovia is very active in the community with a fun high energy running club which I encourage you to join and get inspired! I highly recommend Snail’s Pace of Monrovia!

My doctor, an avid runner, recommended this place and he was right on! This was my first visit and it was super! Incredibly calm atmosphere and the staff was extremely pleasant (thanks, Steven!!). Tried on several pairs of shoes and left with two that I am so excited about. They told me all about their events and were very positive and inclusive. I am ethused to join them for a trail run sometime or their pot luck: D Looking forward to my next visit!

You will get really good customer service here. A custom fitting, and time taken by the sales staff to really get you a pair of shoes that will suit your needs perfectly. Plan on paying full retail in exchange for that service, but you might get lucky and find a close out. Selection is a little limited, but they can order and can move stock between stores.

Shoutout to Aaron for knowing pretty much all there is to know about running gear. I came to exchange some recently bought shoes through A Snail’s Pace’s 30-​day policy. I must have tried on something like 10 different options to get the most comfortable shoes for my feet. Aaron patiently talked me through different brands and degrees of stability and provided great customer service during the 2 ½ hours I spent at the store. I eventually settled on a super comfortable pair of Asics and I’m definitely returning to this store to get track spikes in the spring. I’ve been to Snail’s Pace four times now and they’ve always had great customer service and a varied selection of shoes to choose from. I highly recommend this store.

I used to go to Runner Circle at Atwater Village to purchase my running shoes but after my friend recommended this store, it’s so much better than Runner Circle. They take their time to measure your feet and what shoes would be suitable for you. Runner Circle is not efficient as this store plus Runner Circle’s shoes are way too expensive… I think they raised their cost way to high to make profit. Shoes at the Snail store is inexpensive and more efficient process. I will definitely come back

Man, where do I start!?! A Snails Pace has been great to me. A wonderful staff that have made this store, more than a store! They are a running resource, activity center, social center, training camp, running supply house. They are inspirational motivators, heck, they’re a community!

I am 100% a non-​runner. I literally walked in and said, «I hate running, but I am going to try and start». There was no judgement, no pressure to buy anything… just sincere and amazing customer service. Aaron was the most patient and helpful salesperson I’ve ever had the pleasure to purchase something from. He was incredibly knowledgable about the products and running. He answered all of my questions (even the ridiculous ones) with a smile. It was just such an amazing experience. I drove all the way out from dtla, and I’ll do it again in a heartbeat because that’s how good the service was. I love my shoes! Thank you guys!

I had some issues with my legs/​feet and some friends referred me to this shop. They have equipment that runs a quick analysis of your feet (size, stance, pressure, etc.). The shop also has a treadmill that you can use to test out running shoes.
Anyways, I had them run the test on my feet and the monitor showed the pressure at all of the different parts of my feet as I stood straight up. I tried on several pairs of running shoes and the gentleman that was helping me asked me to walk and jog thru the store each time so he could check my gait. Service is top notch here. They are friendly, patient, and thorough.

I went in looking for trail shoes. Steven was very helpful. he gave his full attentuon, spent his time educating me on proper footwear, and was able to find me a fantastic pair :)

Went to get a pair of running shoes and the customer service was great. They have a machine to measure the way you step and they also watch you walk and run to determine the best shoe for your step.
The sales guy brought out about 4 options for us and I ended up buying a pair for around $ 125.
I would definitely come back and recommend it to anyone getting into running.

I went in today (first time) just to check out the store. Have to say great customer service ! Took time with me to make sure what running shoes are best for me and to answer all questions I may have ! Jenny helped me today and was very helpful and informative !

A Snail’s Pace’s Pub Runs are quickly becoming one of my favorite pastimes!
Each year, from sometime at the dawn of Spring until the late sunset of Summer, A Snail’s Pace – not only Monrovia’s awesome location, but Fountain Valley’s, Brea’s, and Mission Viejo’s as well – promotes its highly-​anticipated, loads o’ fun Pub Runs. It’s generally a simple 2.5 miles or less, beginning at ASP’s location in beautiful Monrovia and ending at T. Phillips Alehouse and Grill, a free beer served in an ASP personalized mason jar awaiting you! (You’ll keep the jar, by the way!)
But it’s not just that…
What’s additionally super cool about ASP’s Pub Runs is that they are running shoe-​sponsored. Brooks, for example, sponsored June’s Runs. Allowing, then, each runner an unique opportunity to «test drive» a pair of their newest running shoes, Brooks invited us to give ‘em a spin, to try them out during the run. I tried Brooks’ «Ghost 8’s» this time around: seriously, the Ghosts, still just as supportive and absorbing, are so quiet and soft. I sped! The «Adrenaline’s,» however, these are the shoes – Brooks’ best-​selling, by the way – that are next on my list! Sweet run!
I want to thank the entire A Snails Pace crew for welcoming everyone – such a positive group. I also want to thank Victoria, ASP’s leader who puts these Runs on the map. And last but not least, Bethany and Tobey, Brooks’ hot shot representatives, who graciously go miles and miles out of their way to make sure everyone – and I do mean everyone – continues to «Run Happy.» Along with the Run’s raffles and prizes – from a free pair of Brooks running shoes to trucker caps sporting their logo – the Pub Runs sponsored by Brooks have been the most exciting to date!

You might also consider joining one of ASP’s running clubs, as there are many. Belonging to one of the running clubs allows for store discounts on all purchases. And if you do get involved, if you do decide upon a beer run – it’s free, by the way! – try out a new pair of shoes while you’re there. Maybe you’ve been needing them. ;)

Been out of running for awhile now. Katie made me feel comfortable and advised me to the right shoes for my activity level and physiology. She was meticulous in examining how I run and how my posture was. She was very warm and great to ask how to start my running again. I would highly recommend talking to Katie and her team if you want to start or get back into running. Thanks Katie. See you on the track. :-)

Great place to get shoes. I was apprehensive at first but I ended up with a fantastic pair of Brooks running shoes. The people that work there are very professional and helpful. Superb 30 day return policy which gives you a chance to really try your shoes before you commit. (as long as they come back clean and in re sellable shape of course). Huge selection and if you can’t find your size they can ship from another store. Great selection of running gadgets and gizmos, clothes, socks, etc. Clean store and well kept.

I went yesterday looking for running shoes since my current ones are completely worn out. I got there and there weren’t a lot of people but even so I was left alone without anyone even greeting me.
Finally I just went up to the register and just asked if they had a certain shoe in a 5.5
They did not and after confirming this the guy just looked at me. He did not make any suggestions or try to help in any way. I asked if they had any size 5.5 and he said no but didn’t even offer to order it online if I found a shoe I liked. I know they do this because they had just offered that option to another client. I was in and out probably in 10 minutes because no one seemed particularly interested in helping me.
I wouldn’t recommend this store.

I’m not an athlete nor a strong runner. However, I do enjoy racing for the fun and spectacle. That said, I my feet get really beat up. I could barely walk for one week after my last marathon. So, I decided I needed a proper running shoe, rather than something from the clearance section at the Nike outlet. Getting fitted for shoes here is a long process. Set aside about one hour.
First, they had me step onto a pressure sensing machine that measured the size and pressure points on my feet. Next, they had me put on some neutral shoes and run for 60 seconds on the treadmill to analyze my gait. Cameras all around the store captured my running gait in slow motion and played it back. The salesperson and I looked at my running style frame by frame, taking note how I landed, where my feet moved mid-​stride and then how I toed off.
They then brought out several pairs of shoes for me to run with. With each pair of shoes, they went through the same process of recording my gait and playing it back to analyze how well it fitted me. After extensive jogging in the store, we found the perfect shoe for me.
This level of service does not come cheap. I’m used to paying less than $ 50 for shoes at the Nike outlet. So imagine my surprise when the register came up $ 172.11. I hope this investment helps me in my next race.

By far the worst service ever. I had a pair of defective Asics running shoes, I contacted Asics and they told me that they have no problem replacing the shoes. As the matter of fact they are very proud of their return policy and customer satisfaction is of most value to them. They told me to take the shoes to the place that I purchased them from with the the email they sent me and I should have no problem. When I went back to the snails pace in Monrovia, even though they confirmed that I purchased the shoes from them and I showed them the email from Asics, they still wouldn’t replace them. They said the store has a 30 day return policy despite the fact that Asics has a 2 years return policy on defects. I will never shop from them again and because I work in the city I will discourage everyone I know from shopping there.

So many people often forgo finding the right pair for their feet and gait, and usually end up with the one that looks hot and fits. Unfortunately, there’s so much more to finding the right pair.
The first time I came, my friend had brought me. We went through a few tests to figure that out, including walking from one end of the shop to the next while a sales rep stares at your gait to see if you pronate, supinate or are neutral, etc. They also used a machine that senses where your feet use more pressure while you stand. When they figure out what kind of walker/​runner you are, they give you suggestions on the types of shoes that are best for you.
Today, was my 2^nd time back here. Since I already knew what type of runner I was, the guy, Michael, only needed to give me some details about some of the shoes I was looking at without putting me through tests. He was very patient, explaining everything I needed to know, giving me suggestions, and not pushing me to get the most expensive top-​of-​the-​line pair. I did a few test runs around the store and happily settled with a very comfortable pair. Unfortunately I didn’t like the color they had in stock, so we did a special order and they ordered one to be shipped to the store.
All the staff there are really nice and gave us good advice. They seemed to know what they were doing/​talking about. I was happy to know that I’ve been wearing the right pair of shoes for my feet!

I bought my brooks shoes here and I loved it! The staff was very friendly and were very imformative of the shoes that would be best fit for my running style. The salesman put me on a mat sensor that was connected to a lcd screen which pinpointed the pressures on my feet and suggests what shoes would be better suited for me. The results showed that I was more of a neutral runner… so I needed neutral shoes. I was sad that there weren’t many shoes that I could select from because there are not many styles that are for are neutral runners. Neutral shoes are more expensive than shoes that are made for pronated runners. I ended up getting the most expensive shoe that I ever got in my whole life the Brooks Dyad 7. Best choice ever! Those shoes gave me the support and stability that I needed. It was a good investment.
The salesman told me an analogy that really made sense about the two different shoes. He compared them to a ferrari and a motorcycle. The ferrari is wider and has more cushion and are a little heavier. If you get the motorcyle (less cushion, lighter, and narrower) you are going to get into more injuries because there is no stability.
For 4 years, I’ve been using the wrong shoes. If I have known them earlier, I would have saved my feet and legs from wear and tear.
Would definitely go back to get another pair of shoes and should you!
