LVM used to be AMAZING — it was owned by two Arabic men who knew their stuff. However, they had to let the business go due to some family health issues. Since then, the new owners(I think it’s changed hands a few times) have not done as well. I’ve not had coffee of the same quality since the originals left. I won’t even go here anymore because it’s so bad in comparison to what it used to be(I just make the trek to the Sbux down the road, which is sadly the best coffee in Monroe). If the originals ever come back and bring back the coffee quality, I will most definitely start going there for my coffee again. However, that is very unlikely. :(

Yeah this is some tasty Espresso and great service! This is a cool spot! Dark Chocolate Espresso Latte with Whipped Cream. Seems some of the patrons wanted me to feel extra welcome(hold the phone — wait I left my phone in the car) rather politely though abruptly I left, so nervous I forgot to take a photo of my drink — I would go back, to see if the patrons are always THAT friendly!!!

I seem to gather that La Vida Mocha has a bit of a spotted history when it comes to Unilocal.I’m not sure exactly what happened, but let’s put that aside for a moment. La Vida Mocha is good coffee. And good coffee is, after all, what a coffee shop is all about. One of the things I miss after graduating from Wingate University is my proximity to LVM. As I said above, the coffee is excellent. They sell and serve a wide variety of beans, and their Tanzanian Peaberry remains one of my favorites. The people at LVM are good, too. I got to know the owners pretty well during my four years at Wingate, and they were(and are) interested in my goings-on. There is definitely a large crowd of regulars, and some of the staff definitely enjoy teasing their customers, but it’s all good natured. My only caution would be that you need to be ok with cigarette smoke if you want to sit out front.
