HARMSEN has been serving Washington State for 37 years. HARMSEN merged with Fakkema & Kingma, Inc. in Oak Harbor, WA October 2007; purchased Meriwether Leachman Associates, Inc. of Bothell, WA in June of 2008; and in June 2011 HARMSEN merged with Evergreen Surveying Inc. of Stanwood.

Harmsen & Associates, Inc. (HARMSEN) is experienced working in rural areas, towns, and large metropolitan areas. We are centrally located with offices in Snohomish County, Skagit County, and Island County. We opened in Monroe, WA in 1974, in Oak Harbor, WA in 1965, and most recently Mount Vernon, WA in 2011. We provide a full range of our services from these 3 locations. Our land use professionals work throughout the state of Washington. We offer Land Surveying and Civil Engineering services.
Meet the Business Owner
David H.
Business Owner
David is the Director of our Monroe office and Director of Engineering. He specializes in roadway, grading storm drainage, and site design. He joined HARMSEN in 1985 working part-time through high school and college as a survey field crew member; eventually becoming a crew chief. After graduation from the University of Washington in 1992 he joined full time as an engineer; eventually rising through the ranks to become Vice President of the firm and the Director of Engineering. During that time he has been involved in all aspects of civil design at HARMSEN.
David has a great deal of experience with storm drainage design including all of the local storm drainage manuals. Most recently he was using the USGS Regression Curves and HEC-RAS to model flow in a stream for a new culvert crossing. He has been involved in every Low Impact Development design prepared by the company and is a LEED AP. He is also a Certified Erosion Control Lead and has prepared many difficult erosion control plans.
